Description
The invention relates to a shielded connector according to the preamble of
Such connectors are mainly used in electronics, automation and telecommunications for passive or active components to connect a shielded cable to a connector receiving component.
Known shielded connectors have a plug insert in which at least one or more contact elements are provided on which or to which the strand (s) of the line to be connected to the connector is (are) connected. The cable has at least one stranded wire and a braided screen. Between the plug insert and the line a shield is provided to which the braid is attached.
For assembly, the shield braid of the line is exposed, pushed the shield on the line, the strands are stripped and connected to the contact elements and the braid is attached to the shield. Then the connector is encapsulated.
Since the shield is arranged on the line, there is the disadvantage that different shields are required for different line strengths, which means higher production costs.
The invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a shielded connector according to the preamble of
The object of the invention is achieved with a shielded connector according to the features of
According to the invention, a shielded connector according to an embodiment of the invention comprises a line comprising at least one wire and a screen braid, a contact carrier in which at least one contact element is provided which receives a stripped end of the at least one wire of the line, and a shield for the at least one wire, wherein the shield has a mounting portion to which the screen braid of the conduit is attached, wherein the braid is attached to the outside of the shield.
The name braided shield is not to be understood in the strict sense. By the term braided shield a line shield is to be detected from an elastic material. These include in particular the usual shields made of braided metal wires. Alternatively, the braid could be formed of an elastic conductive material, such as an electrically conductive plastic. Other cable shields known to those skilled in the art are also conceivable.
The invention has the advantage that the line is not in the Shielding is introduced. Therefore, the same shield can be used for different lines with different outside diameters. In particular, the inner diameter of the shield may be smaller than the outer diameter of the conduit. As a result, tools can be saved, for example, for different sized shielding. In addition, can be manufactured with greater tolerances, because the inner diameter of the shield is independent of the outer diameter of the line.
If, according to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the braided screen is fastened to the shield by means of a crimp barrel, there is the advantage that the crimping can take place against a hard counterstop. This is advantageous over the prior art, in which the line could be damaged if the crimping of the crimp barrel for attachment of the shield braid on the relatively soft sheath of the line. If you wanted to avoid this, you would have to order under the braided screen for crimping a hard pad ring, which causes additional manufacturing costs and thus higher costs. Advantageously, the shield has a hard housing on which the braided shield and the crimp sleeve can be arranged so that a hard counter-stop is provided during the crimping process. The same advantages of a hard counter-attack also arise in alternative fastening methods, such as soldering, welding or gluing.
According to this embodiment of the invention, there is also the advantage that the shield does not have to be pushed for mounting on the line, but after the connection of the at least one core can be attached to the at least one contact element. Therefore, the shield may have an opening with a diameter that is smaller than the outer diameter of the conduit, but sufficient to accommodate the at least one core. That has the advantage that one is independent of the cable sheath diameter, because the cable sheath can be arranged outside the shield and only the shield braid must be placed on the mounting portion of the shield and secured there in a suitable manner. By this arrangement, a virtually smooth or continuous transition from the line to the connector can be achieved when the shield is overmolded with the braid.
The shielded connector according to the invention may preferably comprise a plurality of contact elements in a contact carrier, wherein the number of contact elements preferably corresponds to the number of wires of the line, for example 3, 4, etc. The stripped strands of the wires can be soldered, welded, lasered, for example, to the corresponding contact elements or be crimped.
According to the invention, in the shielded connector, the shield has at least in the attachment region for the braided shield a plurality, preferably two, in the longitudinal direction of the line adjacent to each other parts which are connectable to a shield enclosing the at least one core.
According to the shield has at least in the attachment region for the braided shield in the shielded connector, a screen housing on which a plurality, preferably two, parts is formed.
For example, the parts may be connected to each other via a hinge connection (e.g., Filimschanier, etc.). As a result, the assembly can be simplified.
Das Schirmgehäuse kann beispielsweise aus Zinkdruckguss, Aluminiumdruckguss, Blech (Stanzbiegeteil, Tiefziehteil), Messing, Stahl, Kupfer, Aluminium bzw. einem leitfähigen Kunststoff ausgebildet sein. The shield housing can be made of die-cast zinc, for example, Die cast aluminum, sheet metal (stamped and bent part, deep-drawn part), brass, steel, copper, aluminum or a conductive plastic may be formed.
Not covered by the claims, in the shielded connector additionally or alternatively, the shield may have a longitudinal slot at least in the attachment region for the braided shield. This results in the advantage that the shield is expandable to the arrangement on the shielded connector. For example, the shield can be designed to be elastic or provided with a joint (for example, film hinge, hinge, etc.).
For example, the shield may extend from the male member to the braided shield of a lead attached to the male connector.
For example, the shield may be formed of brass, steel, die-cast, conductive plastic, copper alloy, or a combination of several materials.
According to the invention, the shield may comprise a shielding sleeve which surrounds the contact element and adjoins the plug insert. The shielding sleeve can be added, screwed, pressed, glued or welded by means of a suitable device to the plug insert or the contact carrier receiving the contact element or the contact elements.
In embodiments of the invention without shielding sleeve, for example, a cap screw, a union nut or other connecting element could be mounted at the end of the plug side. It could be provided on the shield (or the screen housing halves) an insertion bevel and clearances for the purpose of a detent effect.
According to the invention, the shield has two shells, which together form a shield housing, one end of which encloses the shielding sleeve and whose other end forms the fastening region. The shielding sleeve can for example comprise a groove, engage in the corresponding folds on the shells of the screen housing. Stops may also be provided on the shells in order to achieve a good orientation of the shielding sleeve to the shielding housing.
According to the invention, the two shells are connected to one another by means of a press connection. For example, the two shells can be provided with pins and holes with which a press fit is created during joining. In addition, the shells can be welded, glued, soldered, riveted or screwed.
In addition, the two shells can be connected to each other, for example, on one side by means of a hinge connection. This can simplify assembly.
For example, in the shielded connector additionally or alternatively be provided in the shield at least one opening for injecting casting material.
Preferably, a plurality of openings may be provided. For example, in the case of a shield comprising two housing halves, one opening may be provided in each housing half. For example, alternatively or additionally, at least one opening may be provided on a connecting line of the two housing halves.
For example, in the shielded connector additionally or alternatively the Shield form an interior, which is preferably completely filled with a casting material.
Casting material seals the interior against the connector and the conduit. As a result, the connector on the one hand against moisture creeping through the line (or other fluids) or dirt particles (dust, etc.) or other foreign body protected. This achieves a higher IP protection class. On the other hand, it is highly probable that moisture can not enter the line through the connector, which could otherwise cause problems at the other end of the line.
Additionally or alternatively, the shield, screen braid and conduit may be at least partially and preferably completely enclosed by a casting material.
In this case, the interior of the shield can be filled with the same casting material, which encloses the shield, the screen braid and the conduit at least partially and preferably completely from the outside.
The casting material may preferably be a hot melt adhesive. The use of a hot melt adhesive has the advantage that a fluid tight, i. Gas- and liquid-tight connection of the cable jacket opening to the plug insert is created. At the same time, the hotmelt adhesive creates a secure and reliable connection of the two housing halves of the shielding with the shielding sleeve or the plug insert. As an alternative to a hot-melt adhesive, it is also possible to use casting material with one or more components (preferably 2) or extrusion-coating material.
For example, a crimp sleeve for fixing the Umbrella braid may be provided on the attachment region of the shield. Alternatively or additionally, the braided screen may also be secured to the screen by other techniques known to those skilled in the art, such as welding, riveting, tentering, etc.
The crimp sleeve may be formed, for example, brass, iron or other non-precious metal. When crimping, for example, a 4-edge crimp, 6-edge crimp or another polygonal crimp can be formed. Alternatively or additionally, the braid can be soldered, welded or glued to the attachment portion of the shield. According to the invention, the crimping sleeve can also be slotted and resiliently rest against the braided shield and be tensioned against the shielding.
For example, a connecting element for connecting the shielded connector may be provided on a counterpart. The connecting element may be, for example, a cap screw, a union nut, a snap connection element, a coupling part, a plug connection part, or a latching connection part. The counterpart may be, for example, a mating connector or a slot in a housing.
Beispielsweise kann die Abschirmung einen Winkelabschnitt aufweisen. For example, the shield may have an angular section.
Due to the angled design of the shield, for example, results in an angle plug.
For example, the shield may also be substantially straight. The straight design of the shield, for example, results in an axial connector.
For example, an envelope of injection molding material be provided, for example, from thermoplastics, crosslinking elastomers, rubber or LSR.
Not claimed, a connection line with one or more and preferably two shielded connectors according to the invention is achieved, which preferably have a common line.

- c) placing a shield on the contact carrier and around the wires,
- d) wherein the braid is mounted on a mounting portion of the shield on the outside of the shield.
This results in the mentioned advantages because, according to one aspect, the shield may have an inner diameter which is smaller than the outer diameter of the conduit jacket. It is independent of the cable sheath diameter.
For example, step c) may comprise the assembly of at least two parts of a shield. Alternatively or additionally, step c) may include expanding a slotted shield include.
Preferably, in step d), the braided screen can be fastened to the shield by means of a fastening sleeve, preferably a crimp sleeve, wherein the fastening sleeve or crimp sleeve is preferably arranged in front of the connecting element on the line in step a).
For example, the interior of the shield can preferably be completely filled with a cast material, preferably a hot melt adhesive. In this case, the shielding, the braided shield and the conduit may preferably be at least partially enclosed by the casting material, wherein the sheathed braid is preferably completely enclosed by the casting material.
The attachment of the wires to the contact elements can be done for example by soldering, welding, laser or crimping.
For example, a housing can be injected around the shielded connector.
According to the invention, the connecting element can be a cap screw, a union nut, a snap connection element, a coupling part, a plug connection part, or a latching connection part.

- The complete assembly is placed in a crimping device and crimped. The assembly looks accordingly in this assembly stage
Fig. 6 out. - The screen housing halves are glued with hot melt adhesive by means of a pre-injection tool through an opening in the screen housing halves. In this case, both the complete inner area of the screen housing halves and the line connection area in the area of the crimping sleeve and in some cases also the cable jacket are enclosed with hot melt adhesive. This creates an excellent tightness. The assembly looks now accordingly
Fig. 7 out, where there for the sake of clarity, the cap screw is not shown. - The shielded connector is finally encapsulated with thermoplastic material with suitable tools. The
FIGS. 8 to 10 show the finished product.

According to this embodiment, a rotation is provided. For this purpose, in each case a so-called tongue and groove connection on the one hand between the shielding
A corresponding projection may preferably be provided on the other housing part (not shown).
By preventing rotation is ensured that when exercising a force on the connector against the rotation takes place no rotation, which could cause a detachment of the sealing casting material and thus a deterioration of the sealing effect.
No twist in this context means that at most a rotation is allowed, which causes no detachment of the casting material. Thus, for example, could Twist of less than 3 or preferably less than 2 degrees, and preferably be approved by less than 1 degree. The elastic casting compound will exert a restoring force, which brings the connector after releasing the force back to the rest position. Preferably, no rotation should be possible. This design is particularly important in angled connectors in which slightly larger forces can be exerted.
The features of the rotation can of course be advantageously provided in all the aforementioned embodiments of the invention advantageously.
