Description

The present invention relates to an insulating tape with an insulating layer of hard insulating material.

Such insulating tapes have an insulating layer, which is usually mounted on a carrier layer, and are used especially for thermal separation in various installation situations in trapezoidal sheet metal, sandwich and metal construction. A special field of application is the prevention of cold bridges between building substructure and outer shell. It can be used both in the wall and in the roof area. Important is a high compression hardness and easy processing and handling.

Due to steadily increasing requirements in terms of insulation values to achieve a still lower heat conduction such insulating tapes must be made thicker, so that they meet the requirements. In this case, it is problematic that too thick thermally decoupled insulating tapes can no longer be wound up into strips in order to form rolls.

From the WO 95/33953 an insulating tape with a pliable support layer is known, having the features of the preamble of claim 1.
From this document, an insulating tape for a pipeline is known, which consists of a hard insulating material, which may be mounted on a pliable support layer. The insulating layer is divided into segments that are wound around the pipe to form a closed insulating layer.

The present invention has for its object to provide an insulating tape for thermal separation in the construction sector, which achieves high insulation and can be stored and transported in a space-saving manner at the same time.

This object is solved by the features of claim 1.

According to the invention, the insulating tape on an insulating layer of hard insulating material having at predetermined intervals incisions, between which individual segments of the insulating layer are formed, which are interconnected.

The carrier layer has a self-adhesive property on the side facing away from the insulating layer. In this case, the carrier layer may be provided with a cover, which is detached prior to installation of the insulating tape.

This ensures that even relatively thick insulating layers can be stored and transported in a suitable manner to save space, yet have a high insulation value and can be easily adhered to the pad.

Preferably, the insulating tape for handling reasons and in terms of space savings wound up into a roll.

In this arrangement, adjacent segments of the insulating layer are closely adjacent to each other at their lower end and diverge toward their upper end, resulting in a wedge-shaped gap extending between the segments in the direction of the upper end. In this way, even very thick insulating tapes with high insulation values can easily be stored and transported in the wound state without impairing the material properties of the insulating tape.

In order to achieve high insulation values, the insulating layer in preferred embodiments comprises mineral wool, a hard polyurethane foam, a hard polyethylene foam, a rigid polypropylene foam, compressed board, wood, Styrofoam or a hollow chamber profile made of plastic or other material.

The segments are adhesively attached to the carrier layer. The carrier layer used are, for example, nonwovens, pliable substances or pliable films and combinations thereof.

In an advantageous embodiment, the carrier layer also on the insulating layer side facing self-adhesive properties, whereby in a simple manner an adhesive bond between the carrier layer and insulating layer is generated.

The incisions are advantageously arranged at a distance of between 1 cm and 15 cm, preferably between 1.5 and 7 cm. By selecting the size range insulating tapes of a thickness of 3 mm to several cm, preferably between 5 mm and 7 cm, can be stored and transported easily and in the most space-saving manner.

Further features, advantages and features of the present invention will become apparent from the following description with reference to the drawings:
Fig. 1
is a cross-sectional view of an insulating tape according to the invention in a partially wound into a roll and partially unwound state; and
Fig. 2
is a schematic view of a manufacturing method of the insulating tape according to the invention.

This in Fig. 1 shown insulating tape is partially shown in a wound-up to a roll state and partially in a developed functional state. The insulating tape has a carrier layer 2, which may for example consist of a non-woven, a limp material or a pliable film. On the carrier layer 2 are adhesively applied segments 4 of an insulating layer 6, which are separated by incisions 5 from each other. The insulating layer 6 has a particularly high insulation value and consists of a hard insulation material, such as mineral wool, a hard polyurethane foam, a hard polyethylene foam, a hard polypropylene foam, from pressed cardboard, wood, Styrofoam or a hollow chamber profile made of plastic or other material. Basically, any hard, ie largely rigid and usable for isolation purposes fabric can be used.

The thickness of the carrier layer 2 is preferably between about 15 .mu.m and 2 mm, and the carrier layer 2 is preferably designed to be self-adhesive on its side facing the segments 4 of the insulating layer 6, whereby the adhesion of the segments 4 to the carrier layer 2 ensured in a particularly simple manner is. Likewise, there is the possibility of thermal bonding by welding or ultrasound in certain materials. In order to simplify the installation of the insulating tape, the carrier layer 2 is preferably also equipped on its other side with self-adhesive properties. In this case, a cover film, not shown here, is necessary, which is arranged over the self-adhesive surface of the carrier layer 2. Alternatively, the insulating layer 6 may also be provided at its upper side, e.g. be coated with a siliconized film, which serves to cover, so that a separate cover film on the self-adhesive support layer 2 is not required.

Typische Breiten der Isolierbänder sind 3 cm bis 20 cm.The segments 4 of the insulating layer 6 have a thickness of 3 mm to several cm, preferably between 5 mm and 7 cm, and are approximately between 1 cm and 15 cm, preferably between 1.5 and 7 cm long. The width of the individual segments 4 and thus of the insulating tape can be chosen almost arbitrarily and is tailored to the respective fields of application. Typical widths of the insulating tapes are 3 cm to 20 cm.

While the individual segments 4 of the insulating layer 6 in the straight state of operation abut each other so closely that they form a closed insulating layer 6, dividing the insulating layer 6 into individual segments 4 in the wound-up state of the insulating strip results in adjacent segments 4 of the insulating layer 6 at their bottom Collide end and diverge towards its upper end, so that there is a widening in the direction of the upper end wedge-shaped gap 8.

Depending on the curvature of the wound into a roll insulating tape span these gaps 8 a correspondingly large or small angle between the adjacent side surfaces 10 of two adjacent segments 4. This makes it possible regardless of the thickness of the segments 4 of the insulating layer 6, without affecting the insulating ability to store an inventive insulating tape in a space-saving manner and to transport to the place of use. The role form is usually not completely round, since the individual segments 4 are almost completely rigid from a certain thickness or length and thus many juxtaposed straight sections of Isolierbandrolle arise, as it also out Fig. 1 is apparent.

In the built-in, straight functional state, the insulating tape provides an excellent insulation value, which corresponds to the insulating value of a closed insulating layer.

It is also possible that the sipes 5 have a certain width, so that the individual segments 4 have a predetermined distance from each other even in the functional state. In addition to a complete transection of the insulating layer 6, it may also be useful to leave thin webs of the insulating layer 6 between the individual segments 4, which either break when winding the insulating tape into a roll or can be bent accordingly. In the latter case, even the carrier layer 2 can be omitted.

Das Isolierband kann auch Brandschutzeigenschaften aufweisen. The insulating tape may also have fire protection properties.

In Fig. 2 is a possible manufacturing method of the insulating tape according to the invention in schematic view shown. The insulating layer 6 is provided as plate goods and moved forward on a conveyor belt 12. In this case, the insulating layer 6 may already be cut in advance to longitudinal strips of any width. Subsequently, the insulating layer 6 is severed by means of at least one cross saw 14 at predetermined intervals, whereby individual segments 4 of the insulating layer 6 are formed. It is also possible to use a plurality of transverse saws 14, which are arranged parallel to one another at a predetermined distance. The forward movement of the conveyor belt 12 and the operation of the transverse saws 14 preferably runs clocked.

Subsequently, the individual segments 4 of the insulating layer 6 are provided on its underside with the carrier layer 2 and adhesively attached thereto. Preferably, the carrier layer 2 is configured for this purpose self-adhesive. When attaching the carrier layer 2, it is important that the individual segments 4 of the insulating layer 6 at least in a partial area exactly abut each other. Subsequently, optionally, a compression of the individual segments 4 on the support layer 2 by means of a pressing device. In this state, the individual segments 4 are arranged directly adjacent to each other and form in combination a closed insulating layer 6. The insulating tape thus produced is then preferably wound into a roll and thus brought into a suitable storage and transport state.

In this way, an insulating tape is created, which in addition to outstanding insulation also has the property to be stored and transported in a simple and space-saving manner.
