The portion (5b) has pierced extensions extending in an opening, and is separated into annular sectors, where each sector has curved extremities.

Description

The technical field of the invention is that of the means for maintaining an ammunition fuel case with respect to a base.

We know by the patent WO03 / 014654 a holding means comprising a pierced washer which allows movement of the base relative to the case.

This washer has a cup-shaped profile whose base matches the internal profile of the case.

An angle is provided between a horizontal plane and the bottom of the bowl to give some rigidity to the connection.

This washer has the disadvantage of generating a radial force on the fuel bushing during any axial driving. Such a radial force is all the more annoying that such a washer is rather rigid and may cut the sleeve.

Moreover, in the case of prestressed mounting, the contact surface of this washer with the fuel socket bottom is practically a circular line. This results in weakening of the socket bottom which is detrimental to its mechanical strength during subsequent solicitations.

Un anneau élastique de maintien selon le préambule de la revendication 1 est connu du document FR 2 365 096 A .An elastic retaining ring according to the preamble of claim 1 is known from the document FR 2 365 096 A .

It is the object of the invention to provide a resilient retaining ring ensuring a reliable hold of the base and the case while avoiding any radial force on the case and allowing nevertheless limited movements of the base relative to the case with minimal effort on the case. These limited movements will bring the pellet back to its original position after a mechanical stress.

Thus, the subject of the invention is an elastic ring for holding a combustible case of ammunition with respect to a base, said ring comprising two substantially annular concentric portions, connected by radial arms, said portions being continuous or not, the portion of larger diameter having at least one flat portion characterized in that the radial arms form an angle relative to the plane of this flat portion.

Advantageously, the two annular portions may be flat and parallel to each other.

According to one characteristic, the ring may comprise an opening disposed between two consecutive arms, the outer annular portion having extensions extending radially in each opening.

Chaque prolongement pourra être percé.Each extension can be pierced.

According to other embodiments, the outer ring may carry slots regularly distributed angularly, each slot being disposed equidistant from two consecutive arms.

The inner ring may have slots evenly spaced angularly, each slot being disposed equidistant from two consecutive arms.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the outer ring of the ring is separated into annular sectors, each sector being integral with an arm.

The inner ring can carry a slot and it can carry a hole on each side of this slot, holes for receiving a tool for positioning the ring on the base.

Chaque secteur annulaire pourra avantageusement comporter des extrémités recourbées.Each annular sector may advantageously comprise curved ends.

The invention will be better understood on reading the following description of various embodiments, a description given with reference to the appended drawings and in which:
  • the figure 1 is a partial longitudinal sectional view of the rear portion of a munition incorporating an elastic ring according to the invention,
  • the figure 2 is a curve giving the forces transmitted by a washer as a function of relative axial displacements,

  • the Figures 4a and 4b are views of alternative embodiments of the ring according to the invention,
  • the Figures 5a and 5b are two views of another embodiment of a ring according to the invention, the figure 5b being a section along the plane whose BB trace is located at the figure 5a ,
  • the figure 6 shows a variant of this embodiment,
  • the figure 7 is a side view of another alternative embodiment.

Le culot obturateur comporte un support axial 4 destiné à recevoir un tube allumeur (non représenté).The figure 1 shows the rear part of a munition 1 for artillery comprising a fuel case 2 which is fixed a shutter base 3. The shutter cap comprises an axial support 4 for receiving an igniter tube (not shown).

The fuel case 2 comprises a cylindrical portion 2a which is extended by a substantially plane annular bottom 2c. The bottom 2c is connected to the cylindrical portion 2a by a portion 2b forming a cup and which substantially matches the internal profile 3a of the base 3.

The mechanical fastening of the case 2 and the base 3 is provided by an elastic ring 5 which is secured to the axial support 4 by a connecting means, for example a split stop (known as a circlip) 6 arranged in a groove of support 4.

According to the invention, the elastic ring 5 comprises two substantially annular and concentric portions 5a, 5b. An inner portion 5a surrounds the axial support 4 and has substantially the same diameter as the latter. It is in support against the stop 6 which is lodged in the throat. The ring 5 also comprises a peripheral portion 5b which bears against the bottom 2c of the case 2.

According to an important characteristic of the invention, the annular portion 5b comprises at least one plane portion. Here the entire peripheral portion 5b is flat.

Moreover, the portion 5a is here also flat and the portions 5a, 5b are parallel to each other.

The circular portions 5a, 5b are connected by substantially radial arms 7 which form an angle θ relative to the plane of said portions 5a, 5b.

Thus an axial force F transmitted to the ring 5 by the base 3 results in a reaction R parallel to the force F and substantially perpendicular to the bottom 2c of the case.

There is therefore no radial force exerted on the cylindrical portion or on the bowl 2b of the holster.

L'effort transmis au fond 2c de l'étui peut être aisément maîtrisé par le dimensionnement des bras radiaux 7.The force transmitted to the bottom 2c of the case can be easily controlled by the dimensioning of the radial arms 7.

It is of course possible to implement another connection means that the stop ring 6. It may for example use a nut screwed on the support 4 with possibly interposed a washer between the nut and the ring 5.

The portion 5a may not be flat, for example have a curved or wavy shape.

The flat portion 5b ensures in accordance with the invention the transfer and the optimal distribution of the forces received while avoiding radial forces on the case.

The Figures 3a and 3b show a first embodiment of a ring according to the invention.

According to this mode, the elastic ring comprises two crowns 5a and 5b continuous therefore devoid of slots.

The rings 5a and 5b are connected by six arms 7 regularly distributed angularly and an opening 8 is disposed between two consecutive arms 7.

Par ailleurs la portion annulaire externe 5b comporte des prolongements 9 qui s'étendent radialement dans chaque ouverture vers le centre de l'anneau 5.Furthermore, the outer annular portion 5b has extensions 9 which extend radially in each opening towards the center of the ring 5.

These extensions make it possible to widen the contact surface between the ring and the bottom 2c of the case. This distributes the transmitted forces which reduces the risk of shearing the case.

Each extension 9 is delimited by a substantially circular profile and it comprises a bore 10. This drilling makes it possible to limit the unburnt of the case 2 after firing.

This embodiment also makes it possible to greatly reduce the forces experienced by the fuel holster.

We have shown on the figure 2 a curve 13 characterizing the resistant force opposed by the ring as a function of the depression δ of said ring. This sink δ corresponds to the distance between the planes of each annular portion 5a, 5b. It is found that the characteristic of this elastic ring is to oppose a relatively moderate force around a depression corresponding substantially to the maximum distance δM separating the planes 5a, 5b.

Such behavior is due to the particular shape of the ring which has two continuous circular portions separated by spring arms. From a certain level of depression this ring approaches a state of mechanical equilibrium which leads to the reduction of efforts.

It follows that with an appropriate dimensioning of this ring (which the skilled person will easily realize), it is possible to have the casing held relative to the base with minimal effort while allowing relative elastic movements. the base with respect to the case.

By way of example, with a spring steel ring 1.2 mm thick and a maximum useful deflection δM = 2.5 mm, it is possible to obtain a maintenance force of around 35 deca Newtons.

Les variantes représentées aux figures 4a et 4b permettent de donner davantage de souplesse à l'anneau 5.The variants represented at Figures 4a and 4b allow to give more flexibility to the ring 5.

Following the figure 4a may be provided on the inner ring 5a slots 11 regularly distributed angularly, each slot being disposed at an equal distance from two consecutive arms 7.

Les fentes 12 coupent ainsi les différents prolongements 9.Following the figure 4b it will be possible to make slots 12 on the outer ring 5b, slots evenly distributed angularly and arranged equidistant from two consecutive arms 7. The slots 12 thus cut the various extensions 9.

With these variants, the stiffness at the radial deformation of one or other of the rings is reduced compared to what was observed with the embodiment of the Figures 3a, 3b .

Cette caractéristique est donnée par la courbe 14 de la figure 2.As a result, the deformation characteristic of the ring does not have the same shape as before. This characteristic is given by curve 14 of the figure 2 .

On notera cependant que le niveau d'efforts pour une flèche maximale de 6 mm est relativement modéré (environ 100 déca Newtons).Note however that the level of effort for a maximum deflection of 6 mm is relatively moderate (about 100 deca Newtons).

The Figures 5a and 5b show another embodiment of a ring according to the invention which is also the preferred embodiment.

According to this mode the outer ring 5b is separated into annular sectors 13 (here four sectors) separated by notches 14 which open on the openings 8. Each annular sector 13 is thus integral with an arm 7 and the sector is symmetrical with respect to said arms.

With a configuration comprising four arms 7 and four annular sectors 13, each sector 13 will have a length of between 15% and 23% of the circumference of the outer ring 5b. The notches 14 will have a width of between 2% and 10% of said circumference.

This embodiment of the invention has the advantage of allowing a completely independent deformation of each arm 7. This results in increased flexibility. Moreover, the force is here directly proportional to the displacement of each solicited zone and this embodiment makes it possible to obtain a useful displacement amplitude which is greater than that obtained with the preceding modes (approximately 100% of useful displacement in addition).

The figure 6 shows a variant of this embodiment in which the inner ring 5a carries a single slot 15.

These holes are intended to receive a tool (not shown) for positioning the ring 5 on the support 4 of the base 3.

As a variant, the inner ring 5a may have a width that increases regularly between the slot 15 and a zone diametrically opposite the slot 15.

Thus the inner ring will be configured as a split stop or circlips. It can therefore be directly positioned in a groove of the support 4 without it being necessary to provide a complementary connecting means such as the split stop 6 of the figure 1 . The assembly is thus simplified and the number of parts is reduced.

The figure 7 shows finally a last variant in which each annular sector 13 has curved ends 17. This variant has the advantage of avoiding any degradation or cutting of the bottom 2c of the fuel case by the ends of the sectors 13 in case of relative movement between these elements.
