Abstract

Claims (19)

  1. Supporting and positioning apparatus, especially for a machine M for driving in posts which serve, for example, as supports for crash barriers, the apparatus being self-propelled and having supporting (27) and fixing (28) means for the driving-in machine (M), the self-propelled apparatus additionally having a driving and control station (22) for an operator, which is arranged in its front part, and at least one abutment mechanism (60) arranged to co-operate with an already driven-in post (P1) so as to position the apparatus and also the driving-in machine M with respect to that already driven-in post and thereby to place the driving-in machine in a position which is substantially correct for driving in the next post (P2), the abutment mechanism (60) being characterised in that it comprises an abutment (74) which is movable between two positions: an active position in which it projects laterally with respect to the apparatus and can come into contact with the already driven-in post (P1), and a withdrawn position in which it is disengaged from that already driven-in post.
  2. Apparatus according to claim 1, characterised in that it is constructed in at least two parts (A, B): a first part (A) which comprises propulsion means, steering means and running means (12, 16, 18), the supporting (27) and fixing (28) means for the driving-in machine (M), and the driving and control station (20, 22); and a second part (B) which is removably and adjustably connected to the first part (A) and which carries at least one abutment mechanism (60).
  3. Apparatus according to claim 2, characterised in that the first part (A) of the apparatus has, on each of its two longitudinal sides, means (36, 38, 40) arranged to receive, and to lock in a selected position, complementary means (56) carried by the second part (B) of the apparatus.
  4. Apparatus according to claim 3, characterised in that said means comprise seatings (36) provided in the chassis of said first part (A), arms (56) which are of a complementary shape to that of the seatings (36) and which are carried by said second part (B), and means (38, 40) for locking said arms in a selected position in said seatings.
  5. Apparatus according to claim 2, characterised in that the second part (B) of the apparatus comprises two beams (50, 52) articulated to one another about a substantially vertical axis (54) and each carrying at least one abutment mechanism (60).
  6. Apparatus according to claim 5, characterised in that the first beam (50) is removably and adjustably fixed to the chassis (10) of the first part (A).
  7. Apparatus according to any one of claims 5 and 6, characterised in that the second beam (52) has at least one wheel (58).
  8. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the or each abutment mechanism (60) comprises an abutment (74) mounted so as to be movable between two positions: a withdrawn position, and an active position in which it can come into contact with an already driven-in post and which serves as a reference for positioning the apparatus and the driving-in machine in the driving-in position for the next post.
  9. Apparatus according to claim 8, characterised in that the abutment (74) is mounted so as to be pivotable and it is actuated towards one or other of its two positions by a jack (66, 68).
  10. Apparatus according to claim 9, characterised in that the jack (66, 68) acts against a return spring (90).
  11. Apparatus according to any one of claims 8 to 10, characterised in that the abutment (74) is wedge-shaped and has a first face (76) arranged to co-operate with the reference post and a second face (78) which is inclined with respect to the first and which co-operates with a ramp (80) when the abutment is actuated to change from its withdrawn position to its active position.
  12. Apparatus according to any one of claims 8 to 11, characterised in that the abutment (74) is mounted so as to be pivotable on a part (70) carried by the movable rod (68) of the jack.
  13. Apparatus according to any one of claims 8 to 12, characterised in that, in its active position, the abutment (74) bears against a part (82a) of a block (82).
  14. Apparatus according to any one of claims 10 to 14, characterised in that the return spring (90) is interposed between the end of the movable rod (68) of the jack and the block (82).
  15. Apparatus according to any one of claims 10 and 14, characterised in that the block (82) is adjustable.
  16. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 15, characterised in that the or each abutment mechanism is carried by a plate (62), which is itself fixed to a beam (50, 52).
  17. Apparatus according to claim 16, characterised in that the plate (62) is removably fixed to the beam (50, 52).
  18. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 17, characterised in that it includes a device for visual guidance, having a pointer rod (34) adjustably fixed, at one end, to a support (30) carried by the apparatus, the other end of which is used for following said predetermined route.
  19. Apparatus according to claim 18, characterised in that the visual guidance device (30, 34) and the or each abutment mechanism (60) are so constructed as to be usable both on the left-hand side and on the right-hand side of the apparatus, the same being the case for the driving-in machine (M).
