- the present invention relates to a profile arrangement in connection with a roof in order to form a roof ridge on a pitched roof having a number of counter battens or the like, which arrangement is formed of a profile that has sides having ends and is manufactured of a stiff material.
- the roof ridge of the roof trusses of a pitched roof is normally formed of a ridge purlin of wood, in order to, among other things, work as an abutment for the screws or nails that are brought in through existing holes in the ridge tiles that are laid over the roof ridge.
- Ridge tiles usually need to be screwed or nailed in place in order not to come loose when blowing and the like.
- the conventional ridge purlin of wood entails that said ridge purlin may warp as well as that the position for the upper batten on each side of the ridge also has to be accurately measured before it is nailed in place. It also becomes heavy and unsafe to handle the ridge purlin up on the roof and which work requires good construction knowledge.
- FIG. 11 shows a ventilating arrangement for a roof composed of, among other things, a cloth that is fastened outside a central transverse board in the roof trusses. A support rest of a stiff material is applied on top of said board in order to support the central part of the cloth.

- the present invention meets a need for a ridge purlin intended to provide good ventilation and that simultaneously is easy to mount.
- the ridge purlin consists of a profile that is arranged to form the roof ridge on a pitched roof and thereby replace the conventional ridge purlin, which, generally seen, consists of a connection board of wood that is fastened in the top of the roof trusses.
- the ridge purlin according to the present invention consists of a profile arrangement manufactured from one or more stiff materials and that has a number of different portions that are angled in relation to each other.
- the work of positioning and fastening a ridge purlin becomes very simple and entails a great time saving at the same time as the quality of the ridge purlin increases in comparison with previously known girders .
- the profile will become inexpensive to manufacture and very easy to mount, which will lower the knowledge required and decrease the time-consumption upon mounting of the same.

- the ends Ia, Ib are angled 90° in relation to the fastening portions 2a, 2b and abuts against the battens 9, thereby protecting the battens 9 from possible water or the like that runs down from the sides 3a, 3b of the profile 10. Instead, possible water is accumulated against the angled ends Ia, Ib and evaporates after a while.
- the ends Ia, Ib may also be aligned with the fastening portions 2a, 2b, but give, however, not the same protection against moisture.
- the scorings 60 between the different portions 1, 2 and the sides 3 may preferably be formed of articulatable plastic hinges of known type, which are formed by compression of the plastic material at the length extension of said scorings.
- a seal 20 is arranged outside the profile 10.
- the seal is fastened to the profile by means of a projection S 1 which is inserted into a depression 5 having interior fastening means located in the upper part 4 of the profile 10.

- This procedure is facilitated by using a profile 10 according to the invention. Instead of nailing a ridge purlin of wood, a profile 10 is placed over the ridge of the roof.
- the fastening portions 2a, 2b are laid against the counter battens 8, which in that connection already are nailed on the roofs, and since the profile 10 has a specific shape, a roofer only needs to put the profile 10 in place, with the fastening portions 2a, 2b that are angled in relation to the sides 3a, 3b of the profile 10, and fasten the fastening portions 2a, 2b by nails, screws or similar fastening members in the roof truss 100 through the counter battens 8.
- a batten 9 is pressed up against the angled portions Ia, Ib of the profile 10, so that these lie substantially in close contact against each other.
- the angled portions Ia, Ib of the profile 10 have a substantially perpendicular extension in relation to the extension of the fastening portions 2a, 2b.
- Said portions Ia, Ib are arranged to be applied against the sides of the battens 9, in order to collect condensate and liquid that have run down along the sides 3a, 3b of the profile 10, and thereby prevent the battens 9 and counter battens 8 from being exposed to unnecessary moisture.
- the ridge tiles 11 are laid, which may be fastened directly in the profile 10 by means of screws or similar fastening members.
- the profile 10 has a planar topside 4 formed of one material and in such a way that a screw easily can be fastened in the topside 4.
- the profile 10 is manufactured of plastic, for instance extruded plastic, which entails a light profile 10 that can be made in long lengths and that a roofer, in spite of that, without any problems can carry up on the roof.
- the profile may also be manufactured from a metal, preferably a treated light metal that is simple to handle and that is resistant against external actions in the form of liquid.
- the topside 4 of a profile 10 of metal has to be processed somehow to allow a screw to be fastened in the req- uisite manner.
- the profile 10 has certain determined dimensions in order for the uppermost batten 9 to become positioned at the intended distance from the roof ridge. Certain flexibility should also be present in the profile 10, so that minor adjustments of the shape of the profile 10 can be made when the roofer is on the roof.
- the profile 10 is manufactured integrally with scorings 60 or bendings situated on fixed locations, which constitute borders between the sides 3a, 3b and the top part 4 as well as the fastening portions 2a, 2b.
- Scorings 60 or bendings also constitute borders between the fastening portions 2a, 2b and the ends Ia, Ib. Additional scorings or bendings may also exist on the profile 10 to provide more angled portions. Said scorings 60, such as has been mentioned above, form pivot joints for the different portions Ia, 2a; Ib, 2b and the sides 3a, 3b.
- the profile 10 is manufactured from a plurality of composed parts.
- the different portions of the profile 10 may, for example, be joined to each other by welding, soldering or any other form of joining.
- the different parts may be of different materials particularly suit- able to constitute a certain portion of the profile 10.
- a seal 20 may be included in said profile arrangement 30 and be connected to the profile 10 in order to decrease the presence of snow and water in the area between the profile 10, the ridge tile 11 and the uppermost roofing tile 12.
- the seal 20 is preferably applied to the profile 10 by pushing down projections 6, present on the seal 20, in a depression 5 in the topside 4 of the profile 10.
- the projections 6 are serrated so as to be easily fas- tenable in the depressions 5, which in this example are provided with small projections along the insides of the depressions 5 in order to enable to push the seal 20 smoothly in place above the profile 10 at the same time as the seal 20 then is retained in the position thereof.
- the sides 7a, 7b of the seal 20 have vertical slots 61, making the sides 7a, 7b of the seal 20 to become shaped according to the shape of the roofing tiles 12. This makes that the seal 20 also abuts against the valleys of the roofing tiles 12 and protects against litter, snow and rain, which otherwise may blow in between the ridge tiles 11 and the roofing tiles 12. Above all, said seal is intended against birds and other animals to get in under the roofing and build nests or holes there, and thereby deteriorate the condition of the roof.
- a seal 21 is shown in one end 21a thereof. In one end 21a thereof, said seal is squeezed in between the underside of the roofing tile 12 and a batten 9, as well as in the other end 216 thereof between the top side of the roofing tile 12 and the underside of the ridge tile 11.
- the profile arrangement 130 shown in Figs. 9-13 is in principle the same as the profile arrangement 30 shown in the other figures, apart from certain details.
- water stops 150 for instance in the form of shape-adapted blocks, are arranged in said angled portions Ia, 2a; Ib, 2b of said sides 3a, 3b on said profile 110. Fixing screws, etc., 151 may be received therein for fastening said profile 110 on the roof ridge as above.
- the main object of said water stops 150 is to stop water, which possibly is accumulated in the angled portions, from running further down along the inner roof, but now the water instead being stopped and staying until it evaporates.
- connection part 160 is arranged to connect the respective two sides 3a, 3b of the profile with each other, between said angled portions Ia, 2a; Ib, 2b and the upper part 104 of the profile. Thereby the profile 110 is stiffened.
- a seal 120 which preferably is arranged with a so-called gull- wing shape and which is provided with slotted outer sides 107a, 107b, is fastenable to said profile 110 on the topside 104 thereof by means of appropriate means, e.g., a rail-shaped projection 106 and groove-shaped depression 105.
- the width B of said topside 104 and seal intermediate part 170 is substantially equal to each other.
- the embodiment example according to Figs. 9-13 should have greater stiffness and strength than the examples previously shown.
- the seal 20 does not need to, if such a one is present, for example, consist of a separate part but may be integrated in the profile 10. Under certain prerequisites, certain parts of the profile could also be manufactured from a non-rigid material. Further modifications are feasible, particularly as for the nature of the different parts, or by using an equivalent technique, without departing from the pro- tection area of the invention, such as it is defined in the claims .
