Abstract

The deep-drawn connector housing (1) has two half shells surrounding a connecting cable (2) in semicircle shape. The half shells are made of raw material and end in peripheral direction in front surface and contacts each other obtusely. A metallic pipe (6) is slided on the half shells, by which multiple beads (7.1) reduces in its inner diameter and is pressed radially with the outer periphery of the half shells. The front surfaces of the beads lying opposite to each other are overlapped radially, and the beads of an imaginary radial plane are assigned inversely.

Description

Deep-drawn connector housing for electrical appliances, comprising two connecting cables semi-circular enclosing half-shells of metallic material which end in the circumferential direction in faces and touching each other butt-end and a pushed onto the half-shells, metallic tube, by several, extending parallel to its longitudinal direction, first Beading reduced in its inner diameter and is radially compressed with the outer periphery of the half-shells.

Stand der TechnikState of the art

Such a connector housing is known. It serves u.a. for connecting electrical devices that are sensitive to electromagnetic radiation and is therefore made of metal and electrically connected to a cable enclosing metallic shield. For this purpose, the shield of the cable is exposed during assembly of the connector housing, inserted into the mutual half shells and closed the connector housing by the tube from the direction of the cable is pushed onto the circularly closed half-shells and fixed by the embossing of beads on it. The half-shells are made of very thin sheet metal and touch each other in the circumferential direction with end faces of correspondingly small extent. Therefore, it is unavoidable that at least a pair of the end faces slip off each other when attaching the beads, penetrates into the cable and this damages.

Darstellung der ErfindungPresentation of the invention

The invention is based on the object of further developing such a connector housing of the type that the slipping of the end surfaces during installation of the tube without any significant additional effort is reliably avoided.

This object is achieved with a connector housing according to the preamble by the characterizing features of claim 1. In advantageous developments, the dependent claims.

The two abutting during assembly of the connector housing end faces of the two half-shells are thus radially overlapped by two opposing first beads, wherein the first beads of a parallel to the longitudinal direction, centered between the end faces and radially outwardly projecting, imaginary radial plane associated with mirror images are. This ensures that the For reducing the diameter introduced into the pipe forces are introduced only vertically in the end faces with the result that radially inwardly directed relative displacements of at least one of the end faces are reliably avoided. It is thereby precluded that at least one of the circumferentially projecting ends is deflected radially inwardly and penetrates into the cable. Damage to the cable is thereby safely excluded.

The pipe used is cylindrically shaped prior to its installation and is radially compressed by radially displaceable pressing jaws which have a shape exactly adapted to the shape of the cylindrical jacket surface of the finished part with a circumferential length corresponding to the circumferential distance between the beads to be produced the mantle between the press jaws and in the region of the beads to be produced moves radially outward and deforms into the beads. With an inside shape of the pressing jaws, which coincides with the shape of the lateral surface of the still undeformed tube, also useful results have been achieved.

The end faces may be formed jagged interlocking to obtain an immovable attachment to each other in the axial direction. The first corrugations are symmetrically associated with such a formation of, as viewed in the circumferential direction, in the middle of the serrated radial plane. The depth of the serration in the circumferential direction must be smaller than the circumferential extent of the beads.

A self-planar formation of the end faces is of course also possible, with the inevitable deformations of stamped, originally flat surfaces produced by the deep-drawing process can be readily accepted. Also in itself domed and / or slightly beveled with respect to the radial plane end surfaces are no longer deflected by the specific arrangement of the first beads in the radial direction inward.

At least one further, circumferentially extending, second bead can be embossed into the half shells, which protrudes radially outwards and is overlapped by the tube and when the further, first beads are assigned symmetrically to the remaining first beads. The diameter reduction can thereby be increased.

It has proven to be advantageous if only two mutually mirror-inverted, further first beads are provided and if the other, first beads, the first beads, viewed in the circumferential direction, are assigned at an angle of 90 °. With ease of manufacture, this makes it particularly well to combine a large diameter reduction with the assurance that cable injuries are avoided.

The tube may have a wall thickness which is greater than that of the integral with the connector housing half shells.

In general, however, it is advantageous if the half-shells and the tube have a substantially matching wall thickness and consist of identical or similar materials. The deformability of the half-shells and of the tube is thereby substantially identical.

The wall thickness of the tube and the half-shells is generally 0.3 to 1.5 mm, advantageously 0.4 to 0.7 mm. In addition to a low weight of the connector housing a sufficient stability is achieved hereby.

Ausführung der ErfindungEmbodiment of the invention

Fig. 1 shows a deep-drawn connector housing 1 made of sheet metal of thickness 0.5 mm for electrical equipment. The connector housing comprises two connecting cables 2 semicircular enclosing half shells 3, 4 made thin sheet of metallic material which ends in the circumferential direction in end faces 5 and which only touch each other butting together, and a both half shells 3,4 together pushed metallic tube 6, by several, extending parallel to its longitudinal direction, first beads 7 is reduced in its inner diameter and radially compressed with the outer periphery of the half-shells 3, 4. The mutually facing end faces 5 of the two half-shells are radially outwardly overlapped by two opposite, first beads 7, wherein the first beads 7 of a parallel to the longitudinal direction, centrally located between the end faces 5 and radially outwardly projecting, imaginary radial plane 8 associated with mirror images are. In the plastic deformation of the tube to reduce the diameter to produce the beads succeeds thereby, radially inwardly directed forces away from the ends of the half shells and fixed the end surfaces despite their small radial extent and the unavoidable in their preparation by a punching and deep drawing inaccuracies of the faces to position one another and avoid a radial deflection of at least one end face inwards or outwards. Even in some areas, no radial deviation of the faces of each other was observed. As a result, not only damage to the cable is reliably avoided, but also achieved a defined and tight fit of the tube on the half shells.

Fig. 5 shows an embodiment in which the end faces 5 are formed jagged interlocking, Fig. 6 an education in which the end faces 5 are formed in a flat. Both designs can be used according to the invention with different advantages, provided that the first beads are assigned to the respective end faces in their total extent mirror images.

Fig. 4 shows a design in which in the half-shells 3, 4 each have a transversely extending to the longitudinal direction, second bead 3.1 is embossed, which projects radially outwardly and is overlapped by the tube 6. The half-shells 3, 4 are particularly intensively deformed in the region of the second bead 3.1 in the production of the first beads 7 of the tube 6, which substantially improves the tight fit of the tube 6 on the half-shells.

In the tube 6 are in the execution of the Fig. 1 and 2 two further, first beads 7.1 impressed, wherein the other, first beads 7.1 are assigned to the remaining first beads 7 symmetrically at an angle of 90 °. The beads 7 and 7.1 are of matching cross-section.

The consisting of sheet metal shells 3, 4 and the tube 6 have a substantially matching wall thickness of 0.3 to 1.5 mm, in the present case of 0.5 mm. The ready-to-use connector housing is therefore extremely robust.
