- the in Fig. 1 shown fuel injector 1 is commonly used in an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders, wherein each of these cylinders associated with such an injector (fuel injection valve).
- the injector has a known manner in a cylinder combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine projecting, not shown here injector and the injector depending on the pressure in a control chamber 2 opening and closing, here indicated only to a small extent nozzle needle 3.
- the control chamber 2 can optionally be connected via an inlet throttle (Z throttle) 4 permanently to a high-pressure inlet line (high pressure side) 5 of the fuel.
- a control valve 6 in the form of a 2/2-way valve is provided, which opens or blocks the connection of the control chamber 2 with a low-pressure chamber (low-pressure side) 7.
- the high-pressure feed line 5 is connected to a high-pressure accumulator (common rail), not shown, and the low-pressure chamber 7 with a leak oil drain.
- the nozzle needle 3 is guided to form the control chamber 2 in a valve piece 8 , in which the Z-throttle 4 is provided.
- the control valve 6 has a guide piece 9 with a through-hole 9a and a control sleeve 10 displaceably guided therein between two valve positions.
- the valve and guide pieces 8, 9 are clamped in a bore of an injector body 11 by means of a valve clamping screw 12 .
- In the valve and guide pieces 8, 9 extending from the control chamber 2 connecting channel 13 which opens via an annular pressure chamber 14 in the through hole 9a of the guide piece 9 and an outlet throttle (A-throttle) 15 has.
- A-throttle outlet throttle
- an upper conical valve seat 16 connects at the top of the pressure chamber 14.
- the control sleeve 10 has at its upper end a conical sealing surface which cooperates with the upper valve seat 16.
- the lower sleeve end of the control sleeve 10 is guided on the free upper end of a valve pin 17 of the valve member 8 and has a conical sealing surface, which cooperates with a lower flat valve seat 18 on the valve pin 17 and the valve piece 8.
- a high-pressure side inner valve chamber (annular groove) 19 of the valve pin 17 connects at the top, which is connected via a transverse and longitudinal channel 20 of the valve pin 17 to the high-pressure inlet line 5.

- the control valve 6 is a double seat valve.
- the closing spring 23 is disposed within the control sleeve 10 in a spring chamber 26 which is connected via a connecting channel 27 to the low-pressure chamber 7.
- the piezoelectric actuator 24 may be hydraulically translated or have a temperature compensation via its housing.
- valve position In her in Fig.1 shown upper (closed) valve position, the control sleeve 10 is located at the top of the conical valve seat 16 sealingly and is at the bottom of the flat valve seat 18 lifted.
- this upper valve position on the one hand the connection of the control chamber 2 to the low pressure chamber 7 is closed by the closed pressure chamber 14 and on the other hand, the valve chamber 21 - and thus the control chamber 2 - connected via the channel 20 with the high pressure supply line 5, so that the nozzle needle. 3 is closed by the pressure prevailing in the control chamber 2 high pressure.
- the piezoelectric actuator 24 If the piezoelectric actuator 24 is energized, it presses the control sleeve 10 down into its lower valve position, in which the control sleeve 10 is lifted off the top of the conical valve seat 16 and sealingly abuts the flat valve seat 18 below.
- the control chamber 2 In this lower (open) valve position on the one hand, the control chamber 2 is connected to the low pressure chamber 7 through the now open pressure chamber 14 and on the other hand, the connection of the valve chamber 21 - and thus the control chamber 2 - locked to the high-pressure inlet line 5, so that the pressure reduced in the control room 2 and the nozzle needle 3 opens. If the energization is canceled, the control sleeve 10 is pushed back over the closing spring 23 in the upper valve position. When the lower valve seat 18 is open, the control chamber 2 is filled via the inlet and connecting lines 13, 20, 22 and the optional Z-throttle 4 and the nozzle needle 3 is closed by the high pressure prevailing in the control chamber 2 again.
- the upper valve seat 16 are formed as a flat seat on a valve plate 30 and the connecting channel 13 as a longitudinal bore in the valve pin 17 and that the pressure chamber 14 is provided within the control sleeve 10.
- the connecting channel 13 is connected via the flat lower valve seat 18 and via the longitudinal channel 20 with the interposition of a throttle 31 (for tolerance narrowing) and to the high-pressure inlet line 5. More specifically, the longitudinal channel 20 opens into the outer valve space (annular groove) 19, which is separated by the lower valve seat 18 from the inner valve space (annular space) 21, which is connected to the connecting channel 13.
- the piezoelectric actuator 24 is biased by a tubular spring 32 and acts on the control sleeve 10 via bolts 33 which pass through the valve plate 30.
- the closing spring 23 is arranged in the low-pressure space 7 surrounding the control sleeve 10.
- the actuator housing 34 is made of a material that has the same or a very similar coefficient of thermal expansion as the piezoelectric actuator 24.
- the piezoelectric actuator 24 is decoupled via a diaphragm 35 from the low-pressure chamber 7, ie from the fuel. Furthermore, there is shown a drain 7a departing from the low-pressure space 7.
- Fig. 2 is different in the Fig. 3 shown fuel injector 1 in that here the control sleeve 10 is not formed on a valve pin and the connecting channel 13 both in the valve piece 8 and in the control sleeve (longitudinal and transverse channel 40 ) and the upper valve seat 16 as in Fig. 1 at the Guide piece 9 is provided.
- the closing spring 23 is arranged in the inner valve chamber 21.
- control chamber 2 In the lower (open) valve position on the one hand, the control chamber 2 is connected to the low pressure chamber 7 through the now open pressure chamber 14 and on the other hand, the compound of Valve chamber 21 - and thus also of the control chamber 2 - locked to the high pressure supply line 5, so that the pressure in the control chamber 2 is reduced and the nozzle needle 3 opens. If no Z-throttle 4 is used, the control sleeve 10 can allow extremely fast speeds of the nozzle needle 2.
- the double seat valve 6 with almost balanced force control sleeve 10 thus allows an extremely fast opening and closing of the nozzle needle.
- Fig. 4 shows the force F acting on the control sleeve 10 when opening and closing as a function of the stroke h of the control sleeve 10.
