Description

The EP 0 790 020 A1 discloses a furniture panel with a beveled edge, which has a covering strip formed by a profile part. In one embodiment, the cover strip has an angled from a flat edge portion first leg, which is insertable in a molded-in groove in the first surface of the furniture panel.

The DE 20 31 120 A1 describes a showcase with sliding door, which has at least one furniture panel with beveled edge, which is covered by an open profile forming cover strip. The open profile forms the track for a sliding door.

The US 1,999,436 A shows a furniture panel with chamfered edge, which has a cover strip with a bent edge of a flat edge portion.

Chamfered edges on furniture are sometimes used to achieve a certain visual appearance. The disadvantage is that conventional cover strips can not or only partially be used. Glued and sharp-edged end strips have the further disadvantage that they have a relatively short life and represent a significant risk of injury to the user.

The object of the invention is to avoid these disadvantages and to realize a durable and user-friendly furniture panel with bevelled edges.

According to the invention this is achieved in that in the molded groove a groove profile open to the first surface is used, and wherein the first leg of the cover strip projects into the groove profile.

The obtuse angle offers several advantages. First, the risk of damage to the furniture and the risk of injury to the user is significantly reduced. On the other hand, the beveled edge can be machined particularly easily with an obtuse angle and, in addition, offers the advantage that the cover strip is reliably connected along the bevelled edge to the furniture panel due to the relatively large contact surface. Compared to known furniture panel with cover strips therefore the effort to create a secure connection between the cover and the furniture panel is much lower.

It can be provided that the first leg spans approximately a right angle with the first surface.

The open groove profile preferably has an asymmetrical cross section, wherein the opposite outer legs of the groove profile may have a different height. It is particularly advantageous if the leg adjacent to the cover profile is designed to be the shortest. This makes it possible to insert the first leg of the cover strip into the groove profile in a shape-retaining manner, wherein the cover strip terminates flush with the surface of the decorative plate.

The open groove profile, which is preferably substantially U-shaped or W-shaped, may be formed by a rear wall profile or a track profile for a sliding door. A furniture panel 1 has at least one bevelled edge 2, which is provided with a cover strip 3. Claims (9)

1. Furniture board (1) with at least one bevelled edge (2), which is provided with a covering strip (3) designed as a profiled part, said covering strip (3) - as seen in cross-section - having a first leg (5) in the area of a first surface (1a) of the furniture board (1), which leg (5) is at an angle from an edge area (3a) and can be inserted into a groove (4) of the furniture board (1) sunk into the first surface (1a) and running parallel to the edge (2), where the preferably plane edge area (3a) of the covering strip (3) forms an obtuse angle (δ) with the first surface (1a), characterised in that a groove profile (6) is inserted into the groove (4), which profile is open towards the first surface (1a), the first leg (5) of the covering strip (3) extending into said groove profile (6).
