Es sind auch Lösungen bekannt, wo das Produkt auf dem Tray von allen Seiten in einer Folie dicht umschlossen wird. Beispielhaft beträgt die Oberfläche eines Fischfilets ca. 23% und die Oberfläche der Hähnchenbrust ca. 18% der sichtbaren Oberfläche des Tellers (schauend von oben). Diese größten Komponenten sind gleichzeitig der wertgebende Bestandteil der Lebensmittelkomponenten. Die Anordnung der Komponenten ist erhaben, d.h. im Querschnitt überragen sie die Höhe des Tellerrandes. Die Abdeckfolie hält den durch die Mikrowellenenergie verdrängten Wasserdampf über dem Produkt und vermeidet das partielle Austrocknen der Bestandteile des Fertiggerichtes.
