Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a sorting system for letters and large letters as well as a method for sorting letters and large letters.
The present invention is particularly suitable for sorting large letters and letters in a common sequence. The term "sequence" is understood to mean a sequence of letters and large letters corresponding to the order in which the mail is delivered by the postman during his distribution. The sequence of steps is also referred to below as the delivery order. For this purpose, the letters and large letters, which are referred to collectively below as mail items, are sorted and arranged such that the first address stop is followed by the second address stop, which is followed by the third address stop, etc.
So far, on letters sorting systems, for example a DBS (Delivery Barcode Sorter) system, which is not suitable for sorting large letters, the letters are brought into the desired sequence of passes in several sorting passes. In addition, large letters are pre-sorted on a sorting system for large letters, such as a FSS system (Flat Sorting System) and then manually placed in the desired sequence. It is obvious that the manual sorting of the large letters in the desired sequence is time consuming and costly. Subsequently, the large letters are added to the already in progress letters brought by the courier manually, which is also referred to as merging or merging. This operation is time consuming and costly. Merging and sorting in Course sequence takes place in several consecutive time windows. This takes a lot of time overall. Moreover, it is not possible with such a system to sort letters and large letters together on the system in sequence.
Alternatively, it is possible to provide a terminal on a sorting system for each destination address, which is also referred to as delivery point or shipping address. In a sorting pass, all large letters and letters with a specific destination address are sorted over a large time window into the terminal to which this destination address has been assigned. This process is repeated for all destination addresses until all large letters and letters are assigned to the respective terminals. The terminals are finally emptied so that the destination addresses are in sequence. However, this solution has the disadvantage that when sorting the letters and large letters in sequence for each destination address, a terminal is required. Thus, the number of terminals can not be less than the number of destination addresses.
Another possibility is to bring already sorted in sequence, separate broadcasts of large letters and letters by means of a merger, so a means for joining the letters and large letters in a joint sequence. In this case, an additional sorting pass or an additional time window and optionally an additional sorting system for carrying out this sorting pass is required.
An object of the invention is to provide a sorting system and a method for sorting for large letters and letters, in which two separate broadcast streams of large letters and letters can be sorted in a common processing run on a sorting system in sequence and merged.

In the following, several embodiments of the present invention will be explained in more detail with reference to a figure.
The figure shows a possible embodiment of the sorting system according to the invention for sorting large letters and letters in plan view. In the figure is a sorting system for large letters G and letters B shown in plan view. The sorting installation comprises x stacking stations SG1, SG2, SG3 to SGx which, with the aid of a
In order to sort the large letters G in the desired sequence, each of the terminals E1 to Ey is assigned a destination address. For example, the terminal E1 may have the address "Tulpenstr.1", the terminal E2 the address "Tulpenstrasse 1a", the terminal E3 the address "Tulpenstr.2", the terminal Eo the address "Veilchenweg 17", the terminal Er the Address "Wendelsteinstrasse 14" etc. are assigned. If, for example, there is a large letter with the address "Violet path 17" in the stacking station SGu, then a control 7 causes the large letter to be transmitted to the terminal Eo when the stacking station SGu is above the terminal Eo. This process is repeated for all large letters in the stacking locations SG1 to SGx until each large letter has been transferred to the corresponding terminal E1 to Ey. Generalized, this means that if a stacking location containing a large letter with a particular destination address is located above a terminal to which this destination address is assigned, this large letter is transferred from the stacking location to the terminal.
As soon as the terminal Er has reached the
The mail flow TB transported by the mail transport path 5.1, 5.2 is already presorted, that is, it has already experienced the first sort pass for the sequence sorting on a letter sorting system. The letter stacking points SB1 to SBz, while the large letters G are placed on the rotating end points E1 to Ey, via a conventional lettering technique, for example, similar FVM (fine distribution or also referred to as FSM (same machine), which for fine sorting machine or Final Sorting Machine stands) filled with one or more letters for each one destination. In this last sorting pass, the mail stacks SB1 to SBz have a sorting function.
It is advantageous if, in the presorting of the letters on a letter sorting system not shown in the figure (first sorting pass for the sequence sorting) as far as the full number of shelves of Briefsortieranlage is used to the required number of letter stacking SB1 to SBz in the sorting system according to the invention as small as possible to keep.
Furthermore, it is advantageous to use mail stacks SB1 to SBz, which are not designed for both large letters and letters, but are optimized for the smaller letter format. This concerns in particular the stack quality, the installation space, the production costs and the discharge behavior on the terminals E1 to Ey. If the mail items, as shown in the figure, fed from the right into the sorting system, it is advantageous to provide a head station 6 in the transport of the letters to an orientation of the letters to the reference edge in the terminals E1 to Ey at the top target address guarantee. In this case, it is also advantageous to use a letter transport path in order to be able to move from vertical to horizontal letter transport technology.
In addition, a second loading station for letters, which is not shown in the figure, be provided to thereby increase the average number of letters per terminal can.
The mail stacks SB1 to SBz can be divided into several areas or groups during the sorting process. While the letter stack locations of a section are being filled with letters, the letters can be stored on the respectively associated peripheral terminals from the letter stack locations of another area. As a result, the throughput can be increased and reduce the downtime for the letter material inputs and for the circulating terminals or for the large-letter material inputs. In this case, the letters for a destination address should already be in the letter stack location (s) if the associated circulating terminal reaches this letter stack location (s).
