Abstract

The umbrella has a central shaft (1), and a ribbed assembly (2) that is pivotably attached to the shaft to fasten an umbrella body (3) to the ribbed assembly. A handle (4) is attached to a lower section of the shaft. A covering unit (5) has a connecting strip (51) that is attached to the handle, and a covering element (52) that is fastened to the connecting strip, where the covering element and the strip are made of cloth, fiber, plastic or elastic material. The covering element encloses the body and the handle when the umbrella is respectively folded and opened.

Description

The invention relates to an umbrella according to the preamble of claim 1. Such an umbrella is made US-A-5 111 835 known.

The U.S. Patent No. 6,164,304 discloses an umbrella having a tieback fastened to one of the panels of the umbrella cover and adapted to be tied about the umbrella cover and the finned linkage when in the folded state.

The invention has for its object to provide an umbrella of the type mentioned, which does not have the disadvantages mentioned above. In particular, while the screen body should be properly open and fold.

Thus, according to the invention, there is provided the provision of an umbrella which includes a sleeve member secured to a connecting band secured to a handle of the umbrella is attached, whereby when folding an umbrella, the sheath element can serve to neatly wrap the screen body in the folded state; and upon opening of the umbrella, the sheath member may then serve to envelop the handle, thereby creating an umbrella whose screen body is properly opened without compromising the field of view of the user.

As in the FIGS. 1 to 3 As shown, the present invention includes a central shaft 1 which may be formed of a plurality of tubes telescopically engaged with each other, a rib assembly 2 pivotally attached to the central shaft 1 to abut a screen body (or a screen cloth) 3 the rib assembly 2 to fix a handle 4 fixed to a lower portion of the central shaft 1; and a sheath means 5 attached to the handle 4 and adapted to envelop the screen body 3 in the folded state when the screen is closed.

The present invention may be a multi-foldable umbrella in which the rib assembly 2 and the central shaft 1 are multiply-foldable, but the number of folds in the present invention is not limited.

The sheath means 5 includes a connecting band 51 attached to the handle 4 and a sheath member 52 fixed to the connecting band 51 and adapted to cover the shield body (or shroud) 3 in the folded state when the shield is closed is.

The sheath member 52 has a length adapted to envelop the collapsed shield body 3 accurately, the sheath member 52 having a width W ranging from 25% to 150% of the length L of the folded shield body 3, namely W = L x (25% - 150%).

However, the width W of the sheath member 52 of the present invention is not limited.

The sheath member 52 includes a first end portion 52a attached to a distal end 512 of the connecting band 51 with a proximal end 511 of the connecting band 51 attached to the handle 4, a receiving connector 53 attached to the first end portion 52a, and a hooking connector 54 attached to the second end portion 52b, whereby, as the sleeve member 52 is wrapped around the folded umbrella body 3 and the folded rib assembly 2, as shown in FIG FIG. 1 shown, the hooking connector 54 is brought into engagement with the receiving connector 53 at the first end portion 52a at the second end portion 52b of the sheath member 52 to the folded shield body 3 and the folded rib assembly 2, as in FIG. 1 shown in broken lines, neatly wrapping.

When opening the umbrella of the present invention in the sequence of steps FIG. 1 -> FIG. 2 -> FIG. 3 Then, the sheath member 52 is "converted" and wound around the handle 4, as in FIG. 3 shown.

Incidentally, the sheath means 5 is now converted and wound around the handle 4. The screen body 3 is completely opened ( FIG. 3 ) without "catching" with a conventional shirring tape attached directly to the shielding panel of the conventional screen body (or screen cloth). Therefore, the screen body from which now no "Raffband" depends more, does not obstruct the field of view of a user and does not splash raindrops, because there is no conventional "Raffband" on the screen body (or shawl).

Accordingly, the sheath means 5 may be adapted to envelop a collapsed shield body, or may be provided to envelop a handle when the shield is opened. The sheath member 52 of the sheath means 5 can always be tightly wrapped around the parts (umbrella or handle or other elements) of the umbrella without hanging loose. This provides an umbrella which can be opened or folded very neatly and whose aesthetics are not compromised.

The middle portion 52m of the sheath member 52 may be fixed to the connecting band 51, as in FIG FIG. 4 while the first end portion 52a and the second end portion 52b are then symmetrically disposed at opposite ends of the connecting band 51.

After connecting the hooking connector 54 and the receiving connector 53 (in FIG FIG. 4 shown as a broken line) is then the sheath element 52 wrapped around the folded screen body 3.

The hooking connector 54 may consist of tiny hook-shaped threads of a fastening tape (Velcro-tape® = Velcro tape), while the receiving connector 53 may be the rough surface of the Velcro tape.

There may be provided further connection mechanisms or connecting means according to the present invention.

The sheath member 52 of the sheath means 5 as shown in FIGS FIGS. 1 to 4 is shown as a "cover" for wrapping the folded screen body when the umbrella is closed, formed.

The sheath element 52 may be made of cloth, a sliver, a plastic film, an elastic band or other suitable materials.

The connecting band 51 is made of cloth, fiber, plastic or elastic materials.

The proximal end 511 of the connecting band 51 may be fixed to the handle 4 or may be movably attached to the handle 4 or the band 51 may be telescopically or extensibly attached to the handle 4, for which there are no restrictions imposed in the present invention.

As in the FIGS. 5 to 7 As shown, the sheath member 52 of the sheath means 5 is modified to include a cap member 52c, a first flap formed on a first end portion 52a of the cap member 52c, a second flap attached to a second end portion 52b of the cap member 52c is formed, a receiving connector 53 which is formed on the first flap, and a hooking connector 54 which is formed on the second flap, whereby by means of the engagement of the hooking connector 54 with the receiving connector 53, the first flap and the second flap are closed to close a front opening 52f to envelop the folded umbrella body 3 inside the cap member 52c of the sheath member 52 (in FIG FIG. 6 shown with broken line).

The cap member 52c has a lower-side opening 52d as shown in FIG FIG. 7 shown, whereby the "carrying" of the cap member 52 c is possible on the folded screen body 3, when the umbrella is closed.

As in FIG. 8 shown, the connecting band 51 may be attached to the first end portion 52a, so that a further modification is formed, which FIG. 7 is derived.

Thus, the connecting band 51 may be optionally fixed to the sheath member 52 or the cap member 52c at any portion or at any location, for which there is no limitation in the present invention.

As in the FIGS. 9 and 10 The sheath member 52 is modified to a bag member which may be formed as a bag or a bellows adapted to be pulled over the screen body 3 or carried on the screen body 3 as shown in FIG FIG. 9 shown. The bag or bladder of the sheath member 52 can be retracted to its volume to minimize, as in FIG. 10 shown when it is not used to wrap the folded screen body.

The connecting band 51 is formed as an elastic band which is fixed to the handle 4. Such a bag member of the sheath member 52 may also be carried on the handle 4 when the umbrella is opened.

The present invention may be further modified without departing from the scope of the claims.

for example, the connectors 53, 54 may be formed as a zipper or other connection means, the present invention not being subject to any restriction in this regard.

The connecting band according to the invention also has the advantage that when the umbrellas are sold there is no accidental or even intentional exchange of the umbrellas and the sheath elements.

Since it may be in some cases that the user wants to keep the hull element separately from the umbrella, a separation point is provided according to a further embodiment of the connecting band 51, which is preferably formed as a perforated separation point or as a dividing line to be cut. Alternatively, it may be provided that the connecting band 51 is firmly but detachably connected optionally to the handle 4 and / or the sheath element 52.

Claims (13)

1. An umbrella, comprising
   a central shaft (1),
   a ribbing assembly (2) that is pivotally arranged on the central shaft (1) in order to attach an umbrella body (3) to the ribbing assembly,
   a handle (4) that is attached to a lower section of the central shaft (1),
   wherein a covering means (5) is provided that is attached to the handle (4) and is suitable for covering the umbrella body (3) when it is folded together, if the umbrella is closed,
   wherein the covering means (5) contains the following: a connexion band (51) that is attached to the handle (4), and a covering element (52) that is attached to the connexion band (51) and is suitable for covering the umbrella body (3) when it is in a folded-together state if the umbrella is closed,
   characterised in that
   the covering means (52) is attached at a distal end of the connexion band (51), wherein a proximal end of the connexion band (51) is attached to the handle (4).
2. The umbrella as specified in claim 1,
   characterised in that
   the covering means (52) has a length that is designed to cover the umbrella body when it is folded together, and wherein the covering element (52) has
   a width that reaches from 25% to 50% of the length of the umbrella body (3) that is folded together.
3. The umbrella as specified in claim 1,
   characterised in that
   the covering element (52) contains the following: a first end section (52a) and a second end section (52b) that are configured on opposing ends of the covering element (52), a receptacle connector (53) that is attached on the first end section (52a), and
   a hook connector (54) that is attached on the second end section (52b) of the covering element (52), by means of which when the covering element (52) is laid around the folded-together umbrella body (3) and the ribbing assembly (2), which is folded together, of the covering element (52) is brought into engagement with the receptacle connector (53) on the first end section (52a) in order to cover thoroughly the folded-together umbrella body (3) as well as the folded-together ribbing assembly (2).
4. The umbrella as specified in claim 3,
   characterised in that
   the central section (52m) of the covering element (52) is attached to the connexion band (51), wherein the first end section (52a) and the second end section (52b) of the covering element (52) are arranged on symmetrically opposite ends of the connexion band (51), by means of which the folded-together umbrella body (3) is covered around by the covering element (52) upon connecting the first end section (52a) to the second end section (52b) of the covering element (52).
5. The umbrella as specified in claim 3 or claim 4,
   characterised in that
   the hook connector (54) is configured with minute hook-shaped threads of a connexion band and the receptacle connector (53) is configured with a row surface of the connexion band.
6. The umbrella as specified in any one of the claims 1 to 5,
   characterised in that
   the covering element (52) consists of cloth, fibrous band, plastic film or elastic band.
7. The umbrella as specified in any one of the claims 1 to 6,
   characterised in that
   the connexion band (51) is consists of cloth, fibrous, plastic, or elastic materials.
8. The umbrella as specified in claim 1,
   characterised in that
   the covering element (52) contains the following: a casing element (52c), a first flap that is configured on a first end section of the casing element, a second flap that is configured on a second end section of the casing element, a receptacle connector (53) that is configured on the first flap, and a hook connector (54) that is configured on the second flap,
   wherein by means of the engagement of the hook connector (54) with the receptacle connector (53), the first flap and the second flap are closed in order to close a frontward opening of the casing element (52c) in order to surround the folded-together umbrella body (3) within the casing element (52c) of the covering element (52).
9. The umbrella as specified in claim 8,
   characterised in that
   the casing element (52c) an opening (52d) that can be opened laterally in order to support the casing element (52c) on the folded-together umbrella body if the umbrella is closed.
10. The umbrella as specified in claim 1,
    characterised in that
    the covering element (52) is configured as a pouch element, which includes a bellows, that is suitable for being pulled over the umbrella body (3) or for being carried on the umbrella body (3).
11. The umbrella as specified in any one of claims 1 to 10,
    characterised in that
    the connexion band is configured as an elastic band that is attached to the handle.
12. The umbrella as specified in any one of claims 1 to 11,
    characterised in that
    the connexion band (51) is provided with a separating location that is preferably configured as a perforated separating location or as a cutting separation line.
13. The umbrella as specified in any one of claims 1 to 11,
    characterised in that
    the connexion band (51) is connected in a fixed but optionally detachable manner to the handle (4) and/or to the covering element (52).
