  • the sheetings can also be coupled to one another according to intermediate distances that do not correspond to the aforesaid holes with 5 cm in between them.
  • the connecting means with which the sheetings are coupled to one another must often be entirely disassembled to put the supporting element and the coupling element in the required position, for example as the coupling part must be turned with its other side to the supporting element for certain positions.
  • Another disadvantage of the known connecting pieces is that the distance between the successive positions of the coupling element in relation to the supporting element is determined by the distance between the protrusions and the grooves, which results in a not so fine alignment.

  • the present invention concerns a connecting piece of the aforesaid type whereby the position finding means are formed of two parallel teeth on at least one of the aforesaid elements, shifted half a pitch in relation to each other, and of at least one tooth provided on the other element, whereby, when the coupling element is pointed in a first direction in relation to the supporting element, as a result of an axial movement of the coupling element towards the supporting element, the aforesaid tooth can co-operate with one of both aforesaid parallel teeth in a non-rotating manner and, when the coupling element is pointed in a second direction after a rotation in the aforesaid axial direction, the aforesaid tooth can co-operate in a non-rotating manner with the other teeth of the aforesaid two parallel teeth.
  • a major advantage of this connecting piece according to the invention is that the positioning of the supporting element and the coupling element in relation to each other is very simple.
  • tooth of one element can co-operate with the two parallel teeth of the other element, such that any position whatsoever can be taken by simply shifting the coupling element in relation to the supporting element and/or by rotating the coupling element in relation to the supporting element.
  • Another advantage of a connecting piece according to the invention is that the distance between the successive positions of the coupling element in relation to the supporting element can be smaller than the distance between the successive teeth of the parallel teeth, also called the pitch, since by rotating the coupling part in relation to the supporting element, both parts can be shifted in relation to each other by exactly one half pitch.
  • this connecting piece according to the invention is that, in order to position the supporting part and the connecting piece in relation to each other, the connecting means must no longer be entirely disassembled between the sheetings, since all positions can be simply set by shifting the coupling part a few teeth and/or by rotating it in relation to the supporting element.
  • the position finding means of one element are formed by an inner toothing and those of the other element by an outer toothing, whereby the outer toothing can be axially shifted in the inner toothing.
  • An advantage of this embodiment of a connecting piece according to the invention is that it can be made small and that the coupling element and the supporting element are automatically locked against rotating in relation to each other by shifting them into one another, such that the connecting means can be easily and very efficiently provided on the coupling element.
  • the invention also concerns a sheeting which is provided with a metal strut in which a connecting piece according to the invention is or can be integrated, either by welding or by clamping or another jointing technique.
  • the sheeting according to the invention is preferably provided with holes which are preferably situated at an equal mutual distance, such that it can be coupled to another sheeting, whereby a reinforcing profile is provided at the holes.
  • the sheeting according to the invention with reinforced holes offers the advantage of dimensional stability, as the holes can no longer wear out due to frequent use thanks to the reinforcing profile, which is the case with the known sheetings.
  • the connecting piece 1 according to the invention represented in figures 1 to 7, as with the known connecting pieces, is mainly formed of a supporting element 2, a coupling element 3 and connecting means 4.
  • the supporting element 2 and the coupling element 3, as is known, are provided with position finding means 5 which can co-operate.
  • a specific characteristic of the connecting piece 1 according to the invention is that the position finding means 5 are formed of two parallel sets of teeth 6 and 7 on at least one of the aforesaid elements, in this case the supporting element 2, and of at least one tooth 8 provided on the other element, in this case the coupling element 3.
