Description
Description A COOLING DEVICE
[0001] The present invention relates to a cooling device comprising shelves that enable storing items such as bottles and beverage cans and the efficient use of the interior volume.
[0002] In cooling devices, particularly in refrigerators, when containers like bottles and beverage cans are stored upright, the distance between two shelves is generally not sufficient, and when the containers are stored horizontally, they have to be kept in place since they can roll down. Various types of permanent or foldable shelves are utilized for storing and easy handling of bottles or beverage cans by the user.
[0003] In the German Patent Application no. DE19949238, a storage device for bottles or beverage containers, preferably arranged beneath a shelf on the door or body of a cooling or freezing apparatus, having a wave-shaped guide path conforming to the shapes of bottles or beverage containers is described.
[0004] In the International Patent application no. WO 0078187, the description is given for a drawer like a storage tray for use in a refrigerator, having formations slidingly engageable with guides, in which food and beverage containers are stored.
[0005] In the International Patent application no. WO 02080738 a holder for storing cans in refrigerators is described. The holder moves in the tracks disposed in an assembly device formed by folding downward on the edges of a shelf and provided with a locking means for safe usage.
[0006] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooling device that comprises shelves on which the holders for storing items like beverage cans and bottles, are able to change positions by being moved in the desired direction.
[0007] In the cooling device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, the holder on which the beverage bottles or cans are stored is preferably suspended from the underside of the cooling device shelf that is described in the first claim and the channels on the shelf that help in attaching the holder onto the shelf, allow the holder to be moved to the desired point by changing its movement direction on the shelf surface.
[0008] The other features of the cooling device shelf are explained in the related claims.
[0009] In one embodiment of the present invention, the channels extend in lengthwise and transverse directions, being parallel to the front and the lateral sides of the shelf and intersect with each other at the junction points. The channels form a grid shape on the shelf surface by intersecting each other at the junction points
[0010] Different routes can be taken on the shelf surface in order to carry the holder from one point to another. Hence it is possible to forward for example a holder engaged on
the lower surface of a shelf without being obstructed by the items on another shelf on the lower side of it. [0011] The channels having a depth preferably less than that of the shelf, and situated on the lower surface of the shelf. [0012] There are channel gates on the sides of the shelves allowing the holder to be engaged in the channels and the extensions on the sides of the shelf channels ensure that the holder is not dislocated from the channel that it is engaged on. [0013] The holder is attached to the channel through the channel gate by way of a guide and forwarded in the channel. [0014] The cooling device realized in order to attain above mentioned aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where : [0015] Figure 1 - is the perspective view of a cooling device and a shelf. [0016] Figure 2 - is the schematic view of a shelf and a holder suspended on its bottom surface.
[0017] Figure 3 - is the perspective view of a shelf and a holder. [0018] Figure 4 - is the schematic view of a shelf having channels on one surface, extending in different directions and merging with each other. [0019] Figure 5 - is the schematic view of a shelf having grid shaped channels on one surface that intersect with each other.
[0020] Figure 6 - is the bottom view of a shelf having curvilinearly shaped channels. [0021] Elements shown in the figures are numbered as follows:
1. Cooling device
2. Body
3. Shelf
4. Holder
5. Channel
6. Channel gate
7. Extension
8. Guide
9. Junction point
[0022] The cooling device (1) comprises a body (2), one or more shelves (3) engaged within the body (2) preferably by means of shelf channels, on which items to be cooled are stored, and one or more holders (4), preferably suspended from the underside of the shelf (3), having a suitable shape for supporting containers like bottles or beverage cans.
[0023] The shelf (3) comprises more than one channel (5) providing the holder (4) to be attached to the shelf (3) and to be moved forward to another position by changing its movement direction without being disengaged from the shelf (3) and one or more
junction points (9) wherein the channels (5) extending in different directions merge or intersect with each other, allowing to change the movement direction of the holder (4) to be moved from one channel (5) to another channel (5).
[0024] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the channels (5) that extend in transversal and lengthwise directions on the shelf (3) surface intersect with each other at junction points (9) and the channels (5) form a grid shape on the shelf (3) surface. A plurality of channels (5) extend parallel to the front and back sides of the shelf (3) and to each other and also parallel to the lateral sides of the shelf (3) and to each other, intersect at the junction points (9).
[0025] The channels (5) are preferably disposed under the shelf (3) such that their depth is not more than that of the shelf (3).
[0026] The shelf (3) comprises one or more channel gates (6) on its sides providing the engagement of the holder (4) to the channel (5) and one or more extensions (7) situated on the sides of the channel (5) that prevent the holder (4) to be dislocated from the channel (5) when it is in the fixed or moving position.
[0027] The holder (4) comprises a guide (8) that provides its engagement to the channel (5) from the channel gate (6) and its movement in the channel (5), preventing its displacement from the shelf by resting on the extension (7).
[0028] In the preferred embodiment wherein the channels (5) are situated on the lower surface of the shelf (3), the holder (4) is suspended on the channel (5) by means of the guide (8), providing the holder (4) to move within the channels (5) while being suspended from the bottom surface of the shelf (3). While the holder (4) is suspended from the bottom surface of the shelf (3) either in a mobile or immobile position, the displacement of the guide (8) from the channel (5) and the fall of the holder (4) is prevented by means of the extensions (7).
[0029] In another embodiment of the present invention, curvilinearly shaped channels (5) are utilized on the shelf (3) and consequently the holder (4) can easily change directions while being moved.
[0030] The channels (5) and the channel gates (6) situated on the shelf (3) allow the holder (4) to be attached on the shelf (3) from the desired position and to be moved to the desired point, different paths can be followed in moving the holder (4) from one point to another. Consequently a holder (4) for example attached to the bottom surface of a shelf (3) can be moved without obstructed by the items on the shelf (3) situated below. The options presented to the user are increased for positioning the holder (4) attached to the shelf (3) in different positions on the shelf (3), the user can move the holder (4) to a desired location adjusting the position depending on the other items stored on the shelves (3).
