An expansion roller (10) made of an elastic material for receiving a grinding or polishing sleeve, comprising a hollow-cylindrical base body (11), from which spokes originate which are distributed about the cylinder axis (12) and which are each tilted in their direction vertically to the cylinder axis (12) by a fixed angle against the radial direction, with the same widening during a rotational movement of the expansion roller (10) about the cylinder axis (12) under the influence of centrifugal force,
    characterized in
    that several adjacent spokes (13) converge at their outer end into a partial area (15) of the cylinder jacket and are thus joined together into sectors (15), so that the total number of spokes (13) is divided into at least two separate sectors (15).
  2. An expansion roller (10) according to claim 1,
    characterized in
    that the total number of spokes (13) is divided among at least three sectors of equal size.
