Definitions
- the invention relates to a diagnostic system for monitoring a connector, in particular for high-frequency assemblies, wherein a diagnostic current flowing through a diagnostic resistor is evaluated.
- the diagnostic resistor is integrated in a at least two-pin connector, is omitted on the product board the place for the diagnostic resistance as well as a deterioration of the product performance by the diagnosis resistor and the diagnostic current, which can adversely affect other modules.
- the printed circuit board can therefore be reduced in size or accommodate other product features.
- a conductor or mounting plate can be dispensed with completely with the measures of the invention, since the connector with integrated diagnosis resistor can be connected directly to the antenna base or via a supply cable without the interposition of a conductor or mounting plate.
- the invention is suitable for use in the monitoring and evaluation of cable connectors on their functionality and the plug-in process in the automotive industry, especially where other methods are too expensive, e.g. for high frequency signal carrying cables such as antenna feed cables.
- FIG. 1 showing a schematic diagram with connector and diagnostic resistor, the invention is explained in detail.
- FIG. 1 shows a connector 1, the plug part 12 via a harness 2 to a high frequency assembly 3, for example, a high-frequency amplifier, connected and the plug part 13 with a consumer 4, for example, an active antenna, symbolized by the resistor R1 is connected.
- the high-frequency signal of the consumer, or the antenna arrives at intact connector 1 to the high-frequency amplifier 3.
- a supply current 10 impressed as supply current for an active assembly of the Consumer 4 is used, for example, an active antenna.
- the resistance R1 is very high and the proportion I1 of the current I0, which flows through the antenna, almost 0.
- diagnostic current I D is evaluated in a diagnostic device 7, for example, then whether he is in a predetermined current window. If so, it is assumed that the connector 1 is intact with respect to both connector poles and the antenna is properly connected to the connected RF assembly 8.
- a diagnostic resistor which is arranged on a circuit board of the consumer, can be omitted as explained above, or the complete circuit board in particular passive antenna.
- the diagnostic resistor 6 is chosen much smaller than the antenna resistance R1, so that a reliable evaluation of the diagnostic current I D is ensured.
- the diagnostic resistor must be dimensioned so that, although a reliable evaluation is possible, but not too much supply line of the active antenna is withdrawn.
- antenna feeders When used in a diversity system, several antenna feeders, or their connectors, can be monitored by a phantom power circuit. Also, multiple connectors may be interposed between the antenna and chain-connected RF assemblies, e.g. Diversity evaluation, amplifiers, tuners, ... are monitored with a diagnostic resistor.
