Abstract
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Polyoxymethylenen durch Polymerisation der Monomeren a) in Gegenwart kationisch wirkender Initiatoren b) sowie gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart von Reglern c) und anschließender Desaktivierung und Abtrennung des Polymeren, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man die Polymerisation in einem Rohrreaktor mit statischen Mischelementen vornimmt, welcher eine Mischungszone, eine Polymerisationszone und eine Desaktivierungszone aufweist und der Durchmesser des Rohrreaktors in der Mischungszone < 90 % des Durchmessers in der Polymerisationszone beträgt.

Verfahren zur Herstellung von Polyoxymethylenen
Beschreibung
Die Erfindung betrifft ein verbessertes Verfahren zur Herstellung von Polyoxymethylenen und die hierbei erhältlichen POM-Polymerisate.
Die SchmeJzepolymerisation von POM in einem Rohrreaktor ist bekannt. Es wurden z.B. Rohrreaktoren tn unterschiedlicher Gestaltung beschrieben: zum einen mit „flie- ßendem Übergang", also geometrisch nicht ausgezeichneten Mischzonen (EP-
A 638 599, EP-A 638 357), andererseits mit räumlicher Trennung zwischen Reaktionsund Abbruchzone (EP-A 80 656). Beide Methoden stellen Ansätze dar, um die ausreichende Mischung unterschiedlicher Mengenströme bzw. unterschiedlich viskoser Flüssigkeiten zu gewährleisten.
Ein besonderes Problem stellt bei der Schmelzepolymerisation die Zugabe des Abbruchmittels dar. Hier muss eine niedermolekulare Komponente in sehr geringen Mengen (anorganische Salze oder organische Basen) mit der (hoch-)viskosen Polymerschmelze effektiv vermischt werden.
Der Stand der Technik setzt vorwiegend zur Lösung des Problems an der Gestaltung des Reaktors an:
Optimierung der Verweilzeit in der Abbruchzone (EP-A 638 599, EP-A 638 357) - Den Einbau von Engpässen und die Variation der Strömungsgeschwindigkeit im Reaktor (EP-A 80 656).
Die Abbruchmittel werden nach dem Stand der Technik stets mit einem Hilfsmittel (Wasser, Alkohole aber auch andere Lösungsmittel) in das Reaktionsgemisch einge- tragen, siehe z.B. DE-A 37 03 790.
Handelt es sich um organische Abbruchreagenzien, so stellt dieses in jedem Fall einen Fremdstoff in der Polymerschmelze dar, i.e. das Abbruchmittel bringt neue Struktureinheiten in das Endprodukt ein. Zusätzliche Struktureinheiten können eingebracht wer- den, wenn das organische Abbruchm/ttel zudem in einem Lösungsmittel vorliegt. Die Stabilität der Ketten und Farbeigenschaften sind dabei nachteilig.
Handelt es sich um anorganische Abbruchreagenzien, so ist die eingebrachte Menge idealerweise genau auf die Menge an Initiator abgestimmt, da überschüssige Base (kein Dampfdruck) nicht entfernt werden kann. Man kann auch im Üherschuss arbeiten.
In beiden Fällen ist es wünschenswert, die Menge des Abbruchmittels zu minimieren, um die Produktqualität zu verbessern.
Zudem ist es wünschenswert, die Menge an Fremdstoffen (Lösungsmittel, niedermole- kulare Flüssigkeiten) zu minimieren.
Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung war es daher, ein verbessertes Verfahren zur Herstellung von Polyoxymethylenen zur Verfügung zu stellen, welches folgende Vorteile gegenüber dem Stand der Technik aufweist:
Optimierung der Zugabe und homogenere Verteilung des Abbruchmittels in der
Polymer-Schmelze, verbesserte Qualität des Endproduktes,
Reduzierung der Fremdstoffe in der Synthese, - Optimierung der Verweilzeit in der Abbruchzone des Reaktors, bessere Reproduzierbarkeit der Polymereigenschaften, aliphatische Lösungsmittel verbessern die Farbe des Polymeren, aprotische Lösungsmittel erzielen stabilere Endgruppen des Polymers.
Eine weitere Aufgabe war es, Polyoxymethylenhomo- oder -copolymerisate herzustellen, welche möglichst geringe Anteile an niedermolekularem POM enthalten.
Demgemäß wurde ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Polyoxymethylenen durch Polymerisation der Monomeren a) in Gegenwart kationisch wirkender Initiatoren b) sowie gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart von Reglern c) und anschließender Desaktivierung und Abtrennung des Polymeren gefunden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man die Polymerisation in einem Rohrreaktor mit statischen Mischelementen vornimmt, welcher eine Mischungszone, eine Polymerisationszone und eine Desaktivierungszone aufweist und der Durchmesser des Rohrreaktors in der Mischungszone < 90 % des Durchmessers in der Polymerisationszone beträgt.
Bevorzugte Ausführungsformen sind den Unteransprüchen zu entnehmen.
Weiterhin wurden POM-Polyrnerisate gefunden, welche eine asymmetrische Molmas- senverteilung aufweisen.
Das Verfahren kann grundsätzlich auf jeglichen Reaktoren mit hoher Mischwirkung durchgeführt werden, wie beispielsweise Schalen, Pflugscharmischern, Rohrreaktoren, List-Reaktoren, Knetern, Rührreaktoren, Extrudern und Bandreaktoren.
Geeignete Reaktoren sind beispielsweise: Kenics (Chemineer Inc.); interfacial surface Generator-lSG und low pressure drop mixer (Ross Engineering Ine); SMV, SMX,
SMXL, SMR (Sulzer Koch-Glitsch); Inliner series 45 (Lightnin Inc.); CSE-Mischer (Flui- tec Georg AG).
Die entstehenden POM-Polymerisate sind dem Fachmann an sich bekannt und in der Literatur beschrieben.
Ganz allgemein weisen diese Polymere mindestens 50 mol-% an wiederkehrenden Einheiten - CH2O - in der Polymerhauptkette auf.
Die Homopolymeren werden im allgemeinen durch die Polymerisation von Monomeren a) wie Formaldehyd oder Trioxan herstellt, vorzugsweise in der Gegenwart von geeigneten Katalysatoren.
Im Rahmen der Erfindung werden Polyoxymethylencopolymere bevorzugt, insbeson- dere solche, die neben den wiederkehrenden Einheiten -CH2O- noch bis zu 50, vorzugsweise 0,01 bis 20, insbesondere 0,1 bis 10 mol-% und ganz besonders bevorzugt 0,5 bis 3 mol-% an wiederkehrenden Einheiten.
wobei R1 bis R4 unabhängig voneinander ein Wasserstoffatom, eine C1-Ws C4-Alkyl- gruppe oder eine halogensubstituierte Alkylgruppe mit 1 bis 4 C-Atomen und R5 eine - CH2-, -CH2O -, eine C1- bis C4-Alkyl- oder C1- bis C4-Haloalkyl substituierte Methylengruppe oder eine entsprechende Oxymethylengruppe darstellen und n einen Wert im Bereich von 0 bis 3 hat. Vorteilhafterweise können diese Gruppen Ringöffnung von cyclischen Ethern in die Copolymere eingeführt werden. Bevorzugte cyclische Ether sind solche der Formel
wobei R1 bis R5 und n die oben genannte Bedeutung haben. Nur beispielsweise seien Ethylenoxid, 1 ,2-Propylenoxid, 1 ,2-Butylenoxid, 1 ,3-Butylenoxid, 1 ,3-Dioxan, 1 ,3-Di- oxolan und 1 ,3-Dioxepan als cyclische Ether genannt sowie lineare Oligo- oder Polyformale wie Polydioxolan oder Polydioxepan als Comonomere genannt.
Ebenfalls geeignet sind Oxymethylenterpolymerisate, die beispielsweise durch Umsetzung von Trioxan, einem der vorstehend beschriebenen cyclischen Ether mit einem dritten Monomeren, vorzugsweise bifunktionellen Verbindungen der Formel
und/oder
wobei Z eine chemische Bindung, -O-, -ORO- (R=Cr bis C8-Alkylen oder C3- bis C8- Cycloalkylen) ist, hergestellt werden.
Bevorzugte Monomere dieser Art sind Ethylendiglycid, Diglycidylether und Diether aus Glycidylen und Formaldehyd, Dioxan oder Trioxan im Molverhältnis 2:1 sowie Diether aus 2 mol Glycidylverbindung und 1 mol eines aliphatischen Diols mit 2 bis 8 C-Atomen wie beispielsweise die Diglycidylether von Ethylenglykol, 1 ,4-Butandiol, 1 ,3-Butandiol, Cyclobutan-1 ,3-diol, 1 ,2-Propandiol und Cyclohexan-1 ,4-diol, um nur einige Beispiele zu nennen.
Endgruppenstabilisierte Polyoxymethylenpolymerisate, die an den Kettenenden C-C- oder -O-CH3-Bindungen aufweisen, werden besonders bevorzugt.
Die bevorzugten Polyoxymethylencopolymere haben Schmelzpunkte von mindestens 1500C und Molekulargewichte (Gewichtsmittelwert) Mw im Bereich von 5.000 bis 300.000, vorzugsweise von 7.000 bis 250.000.
Insbesondere bevorzugt sind POM-Copolymerisate mit einer Uneinheitlichkeit (Mw/Mn) von 2 bis 15, bevorzugt von 3 bis 12, besonders bevorzugt von 3,5 bis 9. Die Messungen erfolgen in der Regel über (GPC) SEC (size exclusion chromatography), der Mn- Wert (Zahlenmittel des Molekulargewichtes) wird im allgemeinen bestimmt mittels (GPC) SEC (size exclusion chromatography).
Die gemäß dem Verfahren erhältlichen POM-Polymerisate weisen bevorzugt eine unimodale Molekulargewichtsverteilung auf, wobei der niedermolekulare Anteil gering ist.
Die Polyoxymethylenhomo- oder -copolymerisate weisen insbesondere Quotienten der d50/d10-Werte (bezogen auf Mw) von 2,25 bis 5,5, vorzugsweise von 2,75 bis 5 und insbesondere 3,2 bis 4,5 auf. Der Quotient der dgo/dsrWerte (bezogen auf Mw) beträgt vorzugsweise 1 ,25 bis 3,25, bevorzugt 1 ,75 bis 2,75 und insbesondere 2 bis 2,5.
Die POM-Polymerisate weisen sehr geringe Anteile an niedermolekularen Anteilen auf und vorzugsweise eine asymmetrische, unimodale Verteilungskurve auf, wobei die Differenz der o.g. Quotienten d50/d10 zu dgo/d5o mindestens 0,25, bevorzugt 1 bis 3 und insbesondere 1 ,0 bis 2,3 beträgt.
Die Molmassenbestimmung durch GPC (Gelpermeationschromatographie):
Elutionsmittel: Hexafluorisopropanol + 0,05 % Trifluoressigsäure-Kalliumsalz Säulentemperatur: 400C Durchflussgeschwindigkeit: 0,5 mUmin
Detektor: Differentialrefraktometer Agilent G1362A.
Die Kalibrierung erfolgte mit eng verteilten PMMA-Standards der Fa. PSS mit Molekulargewichten von M = 505 bis M = 2.740.000. Außerhalb dieses Intervalls liegende EIu- tionsbereiche wurden durch Extrapolation geschätzt.
Unter einem d50 Wert versteht der Fachmann in der Regel den Wert, bei welchem 50 % des Polymerisates ein kleineres Mw aufweisen und entsprechend 50 % ein größeres Mw aufweisen.
Bevorzugt weisen die gemäß dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren erhältlichen Roh- Polyoxymethylene einen Restformaldehydgehalt gemäß VDA 275 im Granulat von maximal 3 %, bevorzugt maximal 1 %, vorzugsweise maximal 0,05 % auf.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren wird bevorzugt für die Homo- und die Copolymerisa- tion von Trioxan angewandt. Als Monomeres a) kann aber grundsätzlich jegliches vorstehend beschriebene Monomere, beispielsweise auch Tetroxan oder (Para)Form- aldehyd eingesetzt werden.
Die Monomeren, beispielsweise Trioxan, werden bevorzugt im geschmolzenen Zustand zudosiert, im allgemeinen bei Temperaturen von 60 bis 1800C.
Vorzugsweise beträgt die Temperatur der Reaktionsmischung bei der Dosierung 62 bis 1700C, insbesondere 120 bis 1600C.
Die Molekulargewichte des Polymeren können gegebenenfalls durch die bei der (Trioxan) Polymerisation üblichen Regler c) auf die angestrebten Werte eingestellt werden. Als Regler kommen Acetale bzw. Formale einwertiger Alkohole, die Alkohole selbst sowie die als Kettenüberträger fungierenden geringen Mengen Wasser, deren Anwe- senheit sich in der Regel nie vollständig vermeiden lässt, in Frage. Die Regler werden in Mengen von 10 bis 10.000 ppm, vorzugsweise von 50 bis 5 000 ppm, eingesetzt.
Als Initiatoren b) (auch als Katalysatoren bezeichnet) werden die bei der (Trioxan)poly- merisation üblichen kationischen Starter verwendet. Es eignen sich Protonensäuren, wie fluorierte oder chlorierte Alkyl- und Arylsulfonsäuren, z.B. Perchlorsäure, Trifluor- methansulfonsäure oder Lewis-Säuren, wie z.B. Zinntetrachlorid, Arsenpentafluorid, Phosphorsäurepentafluorid und Bortrifluorid sowie deren Komplexverbindungen und salzartige Verbindungen, z.B. Bortrifluorid-Etherate und Triphenylmethylenhexafluoro- phosphat. Die Katalysatoren (Initiatoren) werden in Mengen von etwa 0,001 bis 1.000 ppm, vorzugsweise 0,01 bis 500 ppm und insbesondere von 0,05 bis 10 ppm eingesetzt. Im allgemeinen empfiehlt es sich, den Katalysator in verdünnter Form zu- zusetzen, vorzugsweise in Konzentrationen von 0,005 bis 5 Gew.-%. Als Lösungsmittel hierfür können inerte Verbindungen wie aliphatische, cycloaliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffe z.B. Cyclohexan, halogenierte aliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, Glykolether usw. verwendet werden. Besonders bevorzugt ist Triglym als Lösungsmittel (Triethylengly- koldimethylether) sowie 1 ,4-Dioxan.
Monomere sowie Comonomere a), Initiatoren b) und gegebenenfalls Regler c) können auf beliebige Weise vorgemischt oder auch getrennt voneinander dem Polymerisationsreaktor zugegeben werden. Ferner können die Komponenten a), b) und/oder c) zur Stabilisierung sterische gehinderte Phenole enthalten wie in EP-A 129369 oder EP-A 128 739 beschrieben .
Um den Anteil an instabilen Endgruppen zu minimieren, hat es sich als vorteilhaft erwiesen den Initiator b) im Regler c) vor dessen Zugabe zum Monomeren a) und gegebenenfalls Comonomer a) zu lösen.
Als vorteilhaft hat sich herausgestellt, den Initiator an unterschiedlichen Stellen des Rohrreaktors zu dosieren. Der bevorzugte Mindestabstand beträgt hierbei 1 D (D = Durchmesser des Reaktors an der gegebenen Stelle).
Die Polymerisation wird in einem Rohrreaktor durchgeführt, welcher eine Mischungszone, eine Polymerisationszone und eine Desaktivierungszone aufweist.
Der Durchmesser des Rohrreaktors in der Mischungszone beträgt erfindungsgemäß < 90 %, bevorzugt 10 bis 90 %, vorzugsweise 10 bis 70 %, insbesondere 10 bis 60 % des Durchmessers der Polymerisationszone, u.z. bezogen jeweils auf den größten Durchmesser in der Polymerisationszone.
Insbesondere ist die Anzahl der Stege der statischen Mischelemente in der Mischungszone 0 bis 500 %, bevorzugt 0 bis 300 % und insbesondere 0 bis 100 % höher als in der Polymerisationszone.
In einer weiteren Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens kann die Mischungszone in Abschnitte unterschiedlichen Durchmessers aufgeteilt sein. Bevorzugt ist der Durchmesser der gesamten Mischungszone im Reaktor gleich.
Die Verweilzeit in der Mischungszone beträgt vorzugsweise von 1 bis 300 Sekunden, insbesondere 5 bis 60 Sekunden.
Die Scherung im Reaktor in der Mischungszone beträgt bevorzugt 5 bis 1000, vorzugsweise 10 bis 750 und insbesondere 20 bis 500 1/s.
Die Berechnung der Scherung im statischen Mischer erfolgt gemäß:

Die Verweilzeit für die Polymerisation beträgt vorzugsweise 0,1 bis 40 min, insbesondere 1 bis 20 min. Die Polymerisation wird vorzugsweise bis zu einem Umsatz von mindestens 30 %, insbesondere mehr als 60 % geführt.
Im allgemeinen hat sich eine Fahrweise bewährt, bei der man einen Druck bei der Po- lymerisation von 5 bis 200 bar abs, bevorzugt 10 bis 100 bar abs einstellt.
In einer weiteren Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens kann die Polymerisationszone in Abschnitte unterschiedlichen Durchmessers aufgeteilt sein, insbesondere 2 bis 10 Abschnitte, bevorzugt 2 bis 5 Abschnitte. Der kleinste Durchmesser
beträgt zum größten Durchmesser vorzugsweise 20 bis 100 %, insbesondere 30 bis 90 % und besonders bevorzugt 45 bis 75 %.
Die Scherung in der Polymerisationszone beträgt vorzugsweise 1 bis 300, bevorzugt 2 bis 100 und insbesondere 3 bis 50 1/s. Die Viskosität beträgt vorzugsweise 1 bis 1000, vorzugsweise 10 bis 500 und insbesondere 100 bis 400 Pas.
Erfindungsgemäß wird direkt anschließend an die Polymerisation die Polymerisationsmischung desaktiviert, vorzugsweise ohne dass eine Phasenveränderung erfolgt.
Die Desaktivierung der Katalysatorreste erfolgt in der Regel durch Zugabe von mindestens einem Desaktivator d).
Geeignete Desaktivatoren sind z.B. Ammoniak, aliphatische und aromatische Amine, basisch reagierende Salze, wie Soda und Borax. Diese werden üblicherweise den Polymeren in Mengen von vorzugsweise bis zu 1 Gew.-% zugesetzt.
Zu den organischen Verbindungen der (Erd-)Alkalimetalle, vorzugsweise des Natriums gehören die entsprechenden Salze von (cyclo)aliphatischen, araliphatischen oder aro- matischen Carbonsäuren mit vorzugsweise bis zu 30 C-Atomen und vorzugsweise 1 bis 4 Carboxylgruppen. Beispiele hierfür sind: Alkalimetallsalze der Ameisensäure, Essigsäure, Propionsäure, Buttersäure, Isobuttersäure, Caprylsäure, Stearinsäure, Cyclohexancarbonsäure, Bernsteinsäure, Adipinsäure, Korksäure, 1 ,10-Decandi- carbonsäure, 1 ,4-Cyclohexandicarbonsäure, Terephthalsäure, 1 ,2,3-Propantricarbon- säure, 1 ,3,5-Cyclohexantricarbonsäure, Trimellithsäure, 1 ,2,3,4-Cyclopentantetra- carbonsäure, Pyromellithsäure, Benzoesäure, substituierten Benzoesäuren, Dimersäu- re und Trimersäure sowie neutrale und teilneutrale Montanwachssalze oder Montanwachsestersalze (Montanate). Auch Salze mit andersgearteten Säureresten, wie z.B. Alkali-Paraffin-, Alkali-Olefin- und Alkali-Arylsulfonate oder auch Phenolate sowie Alko- holate, wie z.B. Methanolate, Ethanolate, Glykolate, können erfindungsgemäß eingesetzt werden.
Bevorzugt werden Natriumsalze von Mono-und Polycarbonsäuren, insbesondere die aliphatischer Mono- und Polycarbonsäuren, vorzugsweise solchen mit 2 bis 18 C- Atomen, insbesondere mit 2 bis 6 C-Atomen und bis zu vier, vorzugsweise bis zu zwei Carboxylgruppen, sowie Natriumalkoholate mit vorzugsweise 2 bis 15, insbesondere 2 bis 8 C-Atomen verwendet. Beispiele besonders bevorzugter Vertreter sind Natrium- acetat, Natriumpropionat, Natriumbutyrat, Natriumoxalat, Natriuimmalonat, Natrium- succinat, Natriummethanolat, Natriumethanolat, Natirumglykonat. Ganz besonders bevorzugt ist Natriummethanolat, welches besonders vorteilhaft in einer Menge von 1- 5 fach äquimolar zur eingesetzten Komponente b) eingesetzt wird. Es können auch
Gemische verschiedener (Erd-)Alkalimetall-Verbindungen eingesetzt werden, wobei auch Hydroxide einsetzbar sind.
Weiterhin sind Erdalkalialkyle als Desaktivatoren d) bevorzugt, welche 2 bis 30 C- Atome im Alkylrest aufweisen. Als besonders bevorzugte Metalle seinen Li, Mg und Na genannt, wobei n-Butyllithium insbesondere bevorzugt ist.
Bevorzugte Desaktivatoren d) sind solche der Formel I

R2 Wasserstoff oder eine d-C10-Alkylgruppe oder O-R5 bedeutet.
Bevorzugte Reste R1 bis R5 sind unabhängig voneinander Wasserstoff oder eine C1- C4-Alkylgruppe, wie Methyl, Ethyl, n-Propyl, i-Propyl, n-Butyl, i-Butyl, s-Butyl, t-Butyl.
Insbesondere bevorzugte Desaktivatoren d) sind substituierte N-haltige Heterozyklen, insbesondere Derivate des Piperidins, wobei Triacetondiamin (4-Amino-2,2,6,6- Tetramethylpiperidin) besonders bevorzugt ist.
Der Desaktivator wird, bezogen auf den Durchsatz an Trioxan in Mengen von 0,001 bis 25 ppm, bevorzugt 0,01 bis 5 ppm, insbesondere 0,05 bis 2 ppm zudosiert. Der Desak- tivator liegt vorzugsweise verdünnt in einem der nachstehend genannten Träger/- Lösungsmittel vor. Die Konzentration des Desaktivators im Träger/Lösungsmittel beträgt 0,001 bis 10 %, bevorzugt 0,01 bis 5 %, insbesondere 0,05 bis 2 %, ganz besonders bevorzugt 0,1 bis 1 %.
Der Durchmesser des Rohrreaktors in der Desaktivierungszone beträgt erfindungsgemäß < 95 %, vorzugsweise von 20 bis 95 %, insbesondere von 30 bis 90 % und besonders bevorzugt von 50 bis 85 % des Durchmessers in der Polymerisationszone.
Insbesondere ist die Anzahl der Stege der statischen Mischelemente in der Desaktivie- rungszone 0 bis 500 %, bevorzugt 50 bis 300 % und insbesondere 50 bis 200 % höher als in der Polymerisationszone.
In einer weiteren Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens kann die Des- aktivierungszone in Abschnitte unterschiedlichen Durchmessers aufgeteilt sein, insbesondere von 1 bis 5 Abschnitte, bevorzugt 2 Abschnitte. Der Durchmesser des kleins- ten Abschnittes beträgt hierbei 20 bis 100 %, vorzugsweise 30 bis 90 % vom Durchmesser des größten Abschnittes, und insbesondere 50 bis 90 %.
In der besonders bevorzugten Ausführungsform der Desaktivierungszone in 2 Abschnitten enthält der 1. Abschnitt eine 20 bis 500, vorzugsweise 50 bis 300 und insbe- sondere 50 bis 200 % höhere Anzahl an Stegen als in der Polymerisationszone und der 2. Abschnitt eine -100 bis 500, -100 bis 300 und vorzugsweise -100 bis 200 % höhere Anzahl an Stegen als in der Polymerisationszone.
Die Scherung in der Desaktivierungszone beträgt vorzugsweise 0,1 bis 500, vorzugsweise 1 bis 100 und insbesondere 3 bis 75 1/s. Bei der bevorzugten Ausführungsform in mehreren Abschnitten (1 bis 5, vorzugsweise 2) beträgt die Scherung im Abschnitt mit dem kleinsten Durchmesser, vorzugsweise der 1. Abschnitt folgend auf die Polymerisationszone, 10 bis 200, vorzugsweise 15 bis 100 und besonders bevorzugt 20 bis 75 1/s. In den folgenden Abschnitten entsprechend den vorstehenden Werten.
Die Viskosität beträgt bevorzugt 1 bis 1000, vorzugsweise 100 bis 800 und insbesondere 150 bis 600 Pas.
Die Verweilzeit in der Desaktivierungszone beträgt vorzugsweise von 0,5 bis 20 Min., insbesondere von 1 bis 10 Min.
Bevorzugt wird der Desaktivator d) in einem aprotischen, nicht aromatischen Lösungsmittel zugegeben, beispielsweise den vorstehend genannten Monomeren und Comonomeren wie Dioxolan, Trioxan, Butandiolformal, Ethylenoxid oder oligomere bis polymere Polyacetale.
In einer besonders bevorzugten Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens wird der Desaktivator d) in einer Trägersubstanz mit Etherstruktureinheiten in die Po- iymerisationsmischung zugegeben.
Vorzugsweise eignen sich Trägersubstanzen, die dieselben Struktureinheiten aufweisen, die im jeweilig herzustellenden POM-Polymerisat vorhanden sind. Hierunter sind insbesondere die vorstehend aufgeführten Monomeren a) zu verstehen sowie oligome- res bis polymeres Polyoxymethylen oder Polyacetale.
Die vorzugsweise flüssige Zugabe erfolgt bei Temperaturen von 140 bis 2200C.
Werden als Trägersubstanzen oligomere oder polymere POM-Polymerisate verwendet, ist eine Zugabe in flüssiger Form bei Temperaturen von 160 bis 2200C ebenso bevorzugt. Derartige Polymerisate können gegebenenfalls übliche Additive enthalten. Zur Dosierung derartiger Schmelzen der Trägersubstanzen, welche die Desaktivatoren d) enthalten, werden vorzugsweise Vorrichtungen wie Seitenextruder, Stopfschnecke, Schmelzepumpe etc eingesetzt.
Anschließend überführt man in der Regel das entstandene Polymerisat in eine Entgasungsvorrichtung.
Anschließend kann das entsprechende Polyoxymethylenpolymerisat mit üblichen Additiven wie Stabilisatoren, Kautschuken, Füllstoffen usw. in üblicherweise weitervera.r- beitet werden.
Durch die erfindungsgemäße Fahrweise kann das Abbruchmittel (Desaktivator) besser dosiert und eingemischt werden.
Das nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren erhältliche POM weist Qualitätsvorteile auf wie verbesserte thermische Stabilität, Farbe, geringeren Kettenabbau, gute Fließ- fähigkeit und Mechanik.
Gemäß der erfindungsgemäßen Fahrweise ist es auch möglich, Polyacetale mit multimodalen, vorzugsweise bimodalen Molmassenverteilungen herzustellen. Der. z.B. Tri- oxanstrom wird dazu in parallelen Rohrreaktoren (mindestens 2) polymerisiert und es entstehen Fraktionen unterschiedlicher Molmasse, welche anschließend gemischt werden. In den separaten Strängen kann durch einen oder einer Kombination von Parametern das gewünschte Polymer hergestellt werden, das dann vor oder nach der Mischzone mit dem Abbruchmittel, nach der Desaktivierungszone oder im Entgasungsschritt oder auf dem Extruder wieder vermischt wird. Es ist auch möglich, Teil- ströme an den genannten Stellen zu vermischen.
Erfindungsgemäßes Beispiel
Eine Mischung aus 96,495 Gew.-% flüssiges Trioxan, 3,5 Gew.-% Dioxolan und 0,005 Gew.-% Methylal wurde auf 1600C erwärmt und in einen Rohrreaktor mit statischen Mischern (4-Stegler und 8 Stegler) gepumpt.
Der Rohrreaktor bestand aus einer Reaktionszone und einer Abbruchzone. Die Reaktionszone bestand wiederum aus 3 Teilstücken mit unterschiedlichem Durchmesser (1. Reaktorschuss 12 mm, 2. Reaktorschuss 15 mm, 3. Reaktorschuss 27 mm). Die Abbruch∑one setzte sich aus 2 Teilstücken mit unterschiedlichem Durchmesser (1. Reaktorschuss 8-Stegler 17 mm, 2. Reaktorschuss 4-Stegler 27 mm) zusammen.
Die Rohrleitung zwischen Reaktor und Entgasungsstufe fungierte ebenfalls als Abbruchzone.
Durch Zugabe von X ppm Perchlorsäure (als 0,01 gew.-%ige Lösung in 1 ,4-Dioxan) startete man die Polymerisation, der Druck am Ausgang des Reaktors über ein Regelventil eingestellt und beträgt 20 bar. Die Temperatur in der Reaktionszone (165°C) und der Abbruchzone (1950C) wird über einen Doppelmantel geregelt.
Nach einer Verweilzeit von 2 min wurde in der Abbruchzone des Reaktors Triacetondi- amin als Abbruchmittel (als 0,1 gew.-%ige Lösung in 1 ,3-Dioxolan) eindosiert und über einen statischen Mischer eingemischt, so dass das Abbruchmittel im 10fachen Stoff- mengenüberschuss zur Perchlorsäure vorlag.
Nach einer weiteren Verweilzeit von 3 min wurde das Produkt (Roh-POM) über ein Regelventil in einen Entgasungstopf auf einen Druck von 3 bar entspannt, wodurch die flüchtigen Komponenten von der Polymerschmelze abgetrennt wurden. In der Polymerschmelze verblieben Reste an Trioxan und Formaldehyd.
Das Produkt wurde ausgetragen und einer GPC unterzogen.
Vergleichsbeispiel 2,3
Eine Mischung aus 96,495 Gew.-% flüssiges Trioxan, 3,5 Gew.-% Dioxolan und 0,005 Gew.-% Methyia! wurde auf 1600C erwärmt und in einen Rohrreaktor mit stati- sehen Mischern gepumpt.
Der Rohrreaktor bestand aus einem glattem Rohr, das mit Dosiervorrichtungen für den Initiator und das Abbruchmittel ausgestattet war. Die Dosiervorrichtungen wurden in einem Winkel von 60° zur Strömungsrichtung angebracht. Der Durchmesser des Roh- res beträgt 12 mm. Zur Einmischung des Initiators und des Abbruchmittels wurden statische Mischelemente angebracht. Die Temperatur im Reaktor wird über einen Doppelmantel in der Reaktionszone (165°C) und der Abbruchzone (195°C) geregelt.
Durch Zugabe von X ppmw Perchlorsäure (als 0,01 gew.-%ige Lösung in 1 ,4-Dioxan) startete man die Polymerisation, der Druck im Reaktor betrug P bar.
Nach einer Verweilzeit von 2 min wurde in der Abbruchzone des Reaktors Triacetondi- amin als Abbruchmittel (als 0,1 gew.-%ige Lösung in 1 ,3-Dioxolan) eindosiert und über einen statischen Mischer eingemischt, so dass das Abbruchmittel im 10fachen Stoff- mengenüberschuss zur Perchlorsäure vorlag.
Nach einer weiteren Verweilzeit von 3 min wurde das Produkt (Roh-POM) über ein Regelventil in einen Entgasungstopf auf einen Druck von 3 bar entspannt, wodurch die flüchtigen Komponenten von der Polymerschmelze abgetrennt wurden. In der Polymerschmelze verblieben Reste an Trioxan und Formaldehyd.
Das Produkt wurde ausgetragen und einer GPC unterzogen.
Mit 0,05 ppmw Startermenge erfolgte lediglich im erfindungsgemäßen Reaktor eine Polymerisation, im Vergleichsbeispiel 1 wurde lediglich eine Trübung des Trioxans beobachtet. Eine 20fache Erhöhung der Starterkonzentration im Vergleichsbeispiel führte zur Polymerisation, allerdings wird nur niedermolekulares Produkt erhalten. Der erfindungsgemäße Rohrreaktor hingegen ermöglicht es, Polyacetale hoher Molmasse mit äußerst geringen Startermengen herzustellen.
Claims
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Polyoxymethylenen durch Polymerisation der Monomeren a) in Gegenwart kationisch wirkender Initiatoren b) sowie gegebenen- falls in Gegenwart von Reglern c) und anschließender Desaktivierung und Abtrennung des Polymeren, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man die Polymerisation in einem Rohrreaktor mit statischen Mischelementen vornimmt, welcher eine Mischungszone, eine Polymerisationszone und eine Desaktivierungszone aufweist und der Durchmesser des Rohrreaktors in der Mischungszone < 90 % des Durchmessers in der Polymerisationszone beträgt.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 , dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Durchmesser der Desaktivierungszone des Reaktors < 95 % des Durchmessers der Polymerisationszone beträgt.
3. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Desaktivierungszone aus 1 bis 5 Abschnitten aufgebaut ist.
4. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Durchmesser des kleinsten Abschnitts in der Desaktivierungszone 30 bis 95 % vom Durchmesser des größten Abschnittes beträgt.
5. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Anzahl der Stege in den statischen Mischelementen in der Mischungszone 0 bis 500 % höher als in der Polymerisationszone ist.
6. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Anzahl der Stege in den statischen Mischelementen in der Desaktivierungszone 20 bis 500 % höher als in der Polymerisationszone ist.
7. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Des- aktivator in einem aprotischen, nicht aromatischen Lösungsmittel zugegeben wird.
8. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Des- aktivator d) in einer Trägersubstanz mit Etherstruktureinheiten in die Polymerisationsmischung zugegeben wird.
9. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Trä- ger dieselben Struktureinheiten aufweist, die im hergestellten Polyoxymethylen- polymerisat enthalten sind.
10. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass als Trägersubstanz ein oligomeres oder polymeres Polyoxymethylen eingesetzt wird.
11. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Desaktivator, bezogen auf den Durchsatz an Trioxan, in Mengen von 0,001 bis
25 ppm zugegeben wird.
12. Polyoxymethylenhomo- oder -copolymerisate, erhältlich gemäß den Verfahrensbedingungen der Ansprüche 1 bis 11 , wobei der Quotient der d5o/d10-Werte (be- zogen auf Mw) von 2,25 bis 5,5 beträgt.
13. Polyoxymethylenhomo- oder -copolymerisate nach Anspruch 12, wobei der Quotient der dgo/d5O-Werte (bezogen auf Mw) von 1 ,25 bis 3,25 beträgt.
14. Polyoxymethylenhomo- oder -copolymerisate, nach den Ansprüchen 12 oder 13, wobei die Differenz der Quotienten der d50/d10 zu d9o/d5o mindestens 0,25 beträgt.
