A locking device (1) for guiding the rollers of a roller element, in particular of a roller carriage (11), of a sliding door laterally attached to a motor vehicle, and for locking the sliding door in the open position, wherein the locking device (1) acts as a spring element with a spring force by which the sliding door is held in the open position, wherein it comprises a roller portion (2) which comprises a running surface (6) for the roller element, said running surface comprising a bulge (7), wherein it comprises a support portion (3) lying opposite the roller portion (2), wherein it comprises a sliding element (4) arranged between the roller portion (2) and the support portion (3), said sliding element comprising a sliding surface (15) and either being connected fixedly to the support portion (3) and in a sliding manner to the roller portion (2) or being connected in a sliding manner to the support portion (3) and fixedly to the roller portion (2), and wherein the locking device is constituted so as to be deformable, wherein during a deformation the sliding element (4) slides with the sliding surface (15) on the portion connected in a sliding manner to the sliding element (4),
    characterised in that
    • the locking device (1) is produced from plastic, and
    • that it is constituted as a strip closed upon itself.
  2. The locking device (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that it is produced from polyoxymethylene.
  3. The locking device (1) according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that it is attached to the vehicle frame by means of a mounting device (8).
  4. The locking device (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the sliding element (4) comprises a sliding bush (5), which is produced from a different material from the locking device (1) and which comprises a sliding surface (15).
  5. The locking device (1) according to claim 4, characterised in that the sliding bush (5) is produced from polyamide.
  6. The locking device (1) according to claim 4 or 5, characterised in that the sliding bush (5) can be slipped onto the sliding element (4).
  7. The locking device (1) according to any one of claims 4 to 6, characterised in that the sliding bush (5) is constituted as a hollow-cylinder segment with a C-shaped cross-section without a bottom or top.
  8. The locking device (1) according to claim 7, characterised in that the sliding bush (5) comprises at at least one end a radially inwardly pointing projection (10), which prevents an axial displacement of the sliding bush (5) in the slipped-on state.
