Es ist jedoch leicht möglich, mit Hilfe der Produktionsgeschwindigkeit und der Abkühlcharakteristik des Tablettenmaterials vom gemessenen Temperaturwert auf die Maximaltemperatur rückzuschließen. Ist eine Tablette zu stark erwärmt worden, kann dann durch einen geeigneten Eingriff in die Tablettenpresse über den Maschinenrechner dafür gesorgt werden, daß zum Beispiel alle Tabletten, bei denen ein vorgegebener Temperaturwert überschritten wurde, ausgesondert werden. Der Rotor 12 weist eine Matrizenscheibe 14 auf mit einzelnen Matrizenbohrungen 16, denen jeweils ein Paar Preßstempel zugeordnet ist, nämlich ein Oberstempel 18 und ein Unterstempel 20. Die Preßstempel 18, 20 wirken mit stationären Kurvenelementen 22 zusammen, welche die Position der Stempel bei ihrer Drehung mit dem Rotor 12 jeweils vorgeben. In Fig. 1 ist ein Paar Vordruckrollen 24 und Paar Hauptdruckrollen 26 in einer Preß- oder Druckstation dargestellt. Die Druckrollenpaare 24, 26 führen mit Hilfe der dazwischen laufenden Preßstempel 18, 20 die Verpressung des Pulvermaterials innerhalb der Matrizenbohrungen 16 durch. Für die Zuführung des Pulvermaterials dient ein Fülltrichter 28, der Pulvermaterial 30 in einen Füllschuh 32 gibt. Dieser füllt die einzelnen Matrizen nacheinander mit einer vorgegebenen Füllmenge an Pulver, wobei die Füllmenge durch die Position der Unterstempel 20 in den Matrizenbohrungen 16 bestimmt ist. Er ist zum Beispiel ein Infrarot-Temperatursensor, der in der Lage ist, eine Temperaturmessung innerhalb kürzester Zeit zu bewerkstelligen, das heißt, innerhalb von weniger als 0,01 Sekunden. Die derzeitige Produktionsgeschwindigkeit bei Hochleistungspressen beträgt zum Beispiel einhundert Pressungen pro Sekunde. Der Temperatursensor 42 ist mit einem Maschinenrechner 44 verbunden. Der Maschinenrechner, wie er für das Tablettenpressen an sich bekannt ist, steuert und regelt den Betrieb der Presse. Er kooperiert mit einem Bedienrechner 46. Der nicht gezeigten Welle des Rotors 12 ist ein Impulsgeber 48 zugeordnet, dessen Signale auf den Maschinenrechner 44 gegeben werden. Der Impulsgeber 48 ist etwa ein bekannter Winkelencoder, der in kleinsten Winkelschritten ein entsprechendes Signal auf den Maschinenrechner 44 gibt zur Bestimmung der Position der einzelnen Matrizenbohrungen 16. Dadurch läßt sich auch die Temperaturerfassungsposition der Tabletten relativ zum Temperatursensor 42 ermitteln. Die Signale des Temperatursensors 42 gehen auf den Maschinenrechner 44 und werden dort ausgewertet und an den Bedienrechner 46 weitergeleitet. Der Auswertevorgang ist positionsabhängig, das heißt die vom Temperatursensor 42 gemessene Temperatur wird jeweils einer Tablette zugeordnet. Dabei kann mit Hilfe des Temperatursensors 42 auch eine Mehrfachmessung vorgenommen werden.
