- the high discharge speed, especially at the exhaust outlet, of the circulating fluid leaving the cylinder entering the cylinder head, will result in an increase of exhaust outlet losses. Furthermore the high temperature of the exhaust gas discharged into the cylinder results in heating of the cylinder head and this in turn results in heating of the circulating fluid that is sucked into the cylinder through the cylinder head. The entrance temperature of the circulating fluid sucked into the cylinder head directly affects the thermodynamic efficiency.
