  • a user in a DMB/mobile telecommunication linkage service, after contents for broadcasting are received by using DMB, a user can receive a service on detailed data of personal data of broadcasted contents, if necessary while a user watches video, listens to audio, and browses data by using billing of a mobile telecommunication. Therefore, if the DMB/mobile telecommunication linkage application program is executed, the DMB/mobile telecommunication linkage application program-related API is called at step S506, and the DMB terminal-related low- level API is called at step S507. A DMB broadcasting- related service is provided at step S508.
  • a mobile telecommunication terminal-related low-level API is called and a mobile telecommunication- related service is provided at steps S511 and S512.
  • the mobile telecommunication service is provided in the DMB/mobile telecommunication linkage service, subsequently, the DMB broadcasting-related service is provided according to a request of a user. That is, in the check result of a kind of the application program, if the application program is a DMB/mobile telecommunication linkage application program, DMB/mobile telecommunication linkage application program-related API is called, and mobile telecommunication terminal-related low-level API is called.
  • FIG. 6 is a block diagram showing a DMB/mobile telecommunication integrated service terminal and a method for connecting a DMB network and a mobile telecommunication network in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention.
  • the multimedia processor 212 decodes a multimedia stream which is demodulated and demultiplexed in the DMB broadcasting pre-processor 211 and separates the multimedia stream into video/audio and synchronized data, which require synchronization, thereby outputting the video/audio through a terminal screen and a speaker by an AV player 631 going through a memory, and outputting synchronized data to the DMB/mobile telecommunication network linkage platform 220.
  • the data processor 213 decodes synchronized data outputted in the DMB broadcasting pre-processor 211, i.e., data which do not require video/audio and synchronization, and generates network linkage data in a form of file data by integrating mobile data transmitted from a return server through the mobile telecommunication network accessing block 240.
  • a low-level API 430 includes API functions performing a function of a channel setup and change 601, a data event generation 602, a data reading 603, a mobile telecommunication network access 604, and a data request 605.
  • a channel setup and change function tunes a broadcasting frequency based on service information (SI) by acquiring SI request of a high-level API function, and selects a sub-channel of a specific service.

  • An audio/video of a selected service directly goes through a memory and is outputted to a screen and a speaker through the application program 230, but a decoded data file is read by a data reading function of low-level API. If a service is selected and broadcasting data are received after completing channel setup and change, a data event generating function generates an event that reception of the broadcasting data is started, and notifies it to high-level API of it. If the reception of the broadcasting data is completed and the data are restored in a form of a file required in an application program such as a data browser 632, completion of broadcasting data reception is noticed to high-level API by an event.
  • a mobile telecommunication accessing function performs a function accessing to a return channel, which is a mobile telecommunication service server, through a mobile telecommunication network.
  • a data request function transmits a data request to a return channel server, which is a mobile telecommunication service server, existing on a mobile telecommunication network, receives response data, which are mobile data, and notices an event to high-level API.
  • the high-level API 410 includes a broadcasting- related service control package 621, an AV control package 622, a locator package 623, a data file control package 624, and a mobile telecommunication network control package 625.
  • the broadcasting-related service control package 621 can change a broadcasting channel and a sub-channel, and provides a function related to services such as broadcasting program guide, service change and search, and interfaces.
  • the AV control package 622 restores a DMB audio/video and controls a restoring position and the size of the audio/video.
  • the data file control package 624 provides a control function of a data file received through broadcasting or a return channel. That is, the data file control package 624 is provided to process a data file transmitted through a mobile telecommunication network or DMB broadcasting as a shape connected in a DMB/mobile telecommunication network linkage platform.
  • the locator package 623 provides a logical method for designating a resource, which is a service or a file, in the DMB/mobile telecommunication network linkage platform.
  • the designation of the resource hides details, and provides a package for consistently designating a resource in other parts of the DMB/mobile telecommunication network linkage platform.
  • the mobile telecommunication network control package 625 includes a package for providing diverse wireless internet service after accessing to a mobile telecommunication network.
  • data file formation in a mobile telecommunication terminal is performed in high-level API, but in the present invention, data file for DMB/mobile telecommunication network linkage, i.e., DMB/mobile telecommunication network linkage data file is generated in the data processor 213, and the generated DMB/mobile telecommunication network linkage data file, is processes by a low-level API 430. Since data to be transmitted to a mobile telecommunication network are transmitted through a TCP connection, a possibility to be segmented is very low. However, since data transmitted through a DMB broadcasting are transmitted after being segmented and repeated, efficiency of a system can be improved only in case that a process of a decoding and a file composition is performed in a low-level.
  • the data browser 632 which is a kind of the application program 230, generates a control command by a user control, reads the file when necessary by using parameter information transmitted when file receiving completion event of the service is generated, and displays the file on a screen with audio/video (AV) broadcasting.

  • the DMB/mobile telecommunication network linkage platform 700 provides a DMB reception and a mobile telecommunication access function to an integration browser, which is an application program.
  • the functions are connected through the WIPI-DMB extension API, and basic API, which is related to execution of an application program, use an API of a conventional WIPI, and API, which is extended to meet a DMB environment, is used in a DMB broadcasting-related reception/control function and execution of the application program.
  • the integration browser provides DMB A/V contents and data broadcasting contents through API provided in the DMB/mobile telecommunication network linkage platform 700, and supports a user input for a two-way service.
  • the integration browser is realized by using the WIPI-DMB extension API provided in the DMB/mobile telecommunication network linkage platform 700, and a standardized and independent execution environment for terminal is secured.
  • DMB reception and a mobile telecommunication access function are provided to a high- level layer through Hardware Adaptation Layers 701 and 702.
  • the mobile telecommunication access function follows a WIPI HAL standard, and a DMB reception function is added through the DMB extension HAL.
  • the DMB extension HAL 701 includes only basic and necessary API with respect to DMB broadcasting reception and A/V/data stream control. It is for realizing the high-level WIPI-DMB extension HAL independently from the hardware under assumption that an A/V process is performed based on hardware.
  • the DMB-WIPI extension platform 703 provides an environment and API that a high-level integration browser and an application directly use based on the DMB extension HAL 701 and the WIPI HAL 702.
  • the present invention can be embodied as a program and stored in a computer-readable recording medium, such as CD-ROM, RAM, ROM, a floppy disk, a hard disk and a magneto-optical disk. While the present invention has been described with respect to certain preferred embodiments, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the following claims.
