Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for reducing the overall load of the drive system of a common rail injection system of a diesel engine.
- a common rail injection system has a low and a high pressure part.
- the essential components of the high pressure part are a high pressure pump, a high pressure accumulator (rail), injectors, pressure control valves and high pressure fuel lines.
- the high pressure prevailing in the rail of the injection system is generated by a high-pressure pump.
- the injectors inject electrically controlled fuel into the combustion chamber of the engine. It is also conceivable, however, that the injectors inject the fuel mechanically controlled into the combustion chamber of the engine.
- the high-pressure pump and the injectors are components that have been continuously improved in recent years. For example, the EP 0 844 385 B1 and EP 1 321 662 A1 with the design of injectors for a common rail injection system.
- the high-pressure pump for generating pressure in the rail is driven by a clutch, gear, chain or toothed belt.
- the high-pressure pump may be integrated either directly into the drive system of the diesel engine, so that it is driven by the crankshaft, or driven by its own system of the camshaft.
- the crankshaft drives the high pressure pump and the camshaft usually via a toothed belt or chain.
- Object of the present invention is to propose a method for reducing the overall load of the drive system of a common rail injection system of a diesel engine.
- the object is achieved in that at least one parameter of a high pressure pump of the common rail injection system is selected such that the order of the torque excitation of the high pressure pump is equal to the order of the torque excitation at least one camshaft, and further that the angular position of the high pressure pump so in the drive system it is chosen to at least partially cancel out oscillations of the torque at the high pressure pump and oscillations of the torque at the camshaft.
- the invention has the advantage that vibrations in the drive system, in particular of the chain or toothed belt, are also effectively reduced and, as a result, simpler and more cost-effective tensioning and guiding elements for the chain or the belt can be used. Finally, the robustness and reliability of the drive system, in particular the chain or the belt due to the reduced vibrations improved, which makes it possible to use simpler components here also due to the lower loads.
- the transmission ratio of the high pressure pump of the common rail injection system can be chosen such that the order of the torque excitation of the high pressure pump is equal to the order of the torque excitation of at least one camshaft.
- the number of piston strokes of the high pressure pump of the common rail injection system can be selected such that the order of the torque excitation of the high pressure pump is equal to the order of the torque excitation of at least one camshaft.
- the number of pistons of the high pressure pump of the common rail injection system can be selected such that the order of the torque excitation of the high pressure pump is equal to the order of the torque excitation of at least one camshaft.
- the angular position of the high-pressure pump is chosen in particular with respect to the angular position of the camshaft.
- the invention can be used with a high-pressure pump integrated in the drive system of the diesel engine, but also with a high-pressure pump driven by the camshaft, for example in a diesel engine with DOHC (double overhead camshaft).
- DOHC double overhead camshaft
- FIG. 1 schematically shows a drive system of a common rail injection system (not shown) of a diesel engine which includes a crankshaft gear 10 of a diesel engine (not shown), a drive wheel 12 for a common rail injection system (not shown), a camshaft gear 14 of a (not shown) camshaft and a drive element, for example, a chain or a toothed belt 16 includes.
- the torque of the crankshaft 10 is transmitted via the chain or the toothed belt 16 to the drive wheel 12 of the high pressure pump and the camshaft 14.
- a gear ratio is determined in each case by a wheel diameter and is in the case of the drive wheel 12 for the high pressure pump 2: 3 and for the camshaft 14 1: 2.
- the torque of the camshaft has a second order vibration characteristic that can also be adjusted for the torque of the high pressure pump drive wheel 12 by the number of pistons or the piston strokes of the pump or by the gear ratio of the drive wheel 12 ,
- the chain or the toothed belt 16 can be tensioned by one or more engagement elements or tension rollers.
- angular positions of all rotating drive components, ie the crankshaft 10, the drive wheel 12 of the high pressure pump and the camshaft 14 are matched, for example during assembly of the diesel engine, as indicated by the reference numerals 18, 20 and 22, which designate the angular position of the crankshaft sprocket 10, the drive wheel 12 of the high-pressure pump and the camshaft sprocket 14.
- FIG. 2 now shows the torque curve on the camshaft (solid line 24) and the high-pressure pump (dot-dash line 26) in the upper diagram.
- the camshaft has a gear ratio of 1: 2 and generates four torque oscillations over 360 ° cam angle and 720 ° crank angle using the example of a 4-cylinder in-line engine.
- the high-pressure pump for example, generates four characteristic torque oscillations over 720 ° crank angle in the case of three piston strokes of the pump (per revolution) and the selected gear ratio of 2: 3.
- the illustrated course is thus over two revolutions of the crankshaft and over one revolution of the camshaft.
- the resulting total torque of Drive system shown (dashed line 28).
- the angular positions of the high-pressure pump and its drive wheel and the camshaft or the camshaft are aligned according to the "worst case", ie such that the total torque abruptly alternating loads (from a positive to a negative torque) with amplitudes to about 21.3 Nm causes.
- the torque oscillations on the camshaft gear and on the drive wheel of the high-pressure pump are superimposed “constructively”, ie the two torque oscillations are in phase, resulting in a very large overall load of the drive system due to the torque oscillation resulting from the superposition.
- the method of the present invention is applicable not only to the in-line four-cylinder in-line engine but also to all internal combustion engines having a plurality of cylinders arranged in series, such as eight-cylinder in-line engines or V-type engines as well have cylinders arranged in series.
Abstract
Description
- Fig. 1
