Definitions
- the invention relates to a driver element for an endless gathering chain in a collection route, in particular in the print finishing as well as a corresponding endless collecting chain.
- Such gathering chains and carriers can be found especially in saddle stitchers in which signatures are deposited along the gathering chain of investors on the gathering chain and fed by the driver of a stitching station. There, the superimposed signatures are stapled and then trimmed in a trimmer on three sides to produce a finished printed product.
- signatures are in saddle stitches folded sheets that are folded one or more times and are placed along this at least one fold on the saddle-shaped gathering chain.
- Such saddle stitchers with corresponding gathering chains and associated entrainment elements are sold, for example, by the company Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG under the type designation ST300, ST350 or ST400.
- Other embodiments are, for example, from the European patent EP 881 180 B1 known.
- the driver elements are fixedly arranged on the ridge of the gathering chain, whereby the gathering chain is particularly narrow executable.
- this takes the disadvantage that over the ridge arranged swords on the investors must have a corresponding distance.
- Another embodiment is in European Patent Application EP 1 074 495 A1 known.
- the driver elements are movably attached to the gathering chain, so that they are pivotable from a substantially vertical mounting position in a substantially horizontal mounting position.
- the productivity of the machine does not depend solely on the operating speed, but rather on how many products can be processed with the machine in a given time.
- one of the upper constraints is the speed with which the gathering chain is driven, which is also related to significant aerodynamic factors that make it difficult to transport the hitherto loosely stacked signatures on the gathering chain at higher speeds.
- the chain pitch ie the distance between the carriers on the gathering chain, is adapted to the product size.
- the gathering chain has saddle segments and picker segments, whereby pickup elements can be plugged into the picker segments.
- the US 1,348,849 discloses entrainment elements for a gathering chain in which the gathering chain is composed of saddle segments and receiver segments.
- the driver segment is releasably secured to a picker segment. It has two driver wings, which are biased against each other.
- the carriers according to the invention are a driver element for an endless gathering chain in a collection line, in particular during print finishing, wherein the collecting chain is composed of saddle segments and receiver segments, the saddle segments being essentially one Form saddle-shaped roof of the gathering chain and wherein the driver element is releasably attachable tool-free on a pick-up segment, wherein the driver element has two driver wings, wherein the driver wings are biased against each other.
- the driving wings have a common pivot axis and are advantageously biased in the installed in the gathering chain layer against the inner sides of the gathering chain. Due to the bias between the driver wings, a snap effect can be achieved, which leads to a secure and reproducible engagement of the driver element in the receiving segment.
- driver elements protrude the two driver wings laterally from the roof of the collector chain, and in particular protrude beyond the ridge of the roof. In this way, more space remains directly above the ridge of the gathering chain so that overlay swords located above the ridge can have a correspondingly short distance to the investors and thus the transfer of the signatures to the gathering chain is more secure.
- the driver can push the signatures directly from the support bar, which is not readily possible with carriers that are located directly on the ridge of the gathering chain.
- driver elements can be compressed so easily to insert into the gathering chain on the wings.
- the extension of the wings extending into the interior of the roof is compressed, for example, against a spring, similar to a pair of scissors. If the compressed driver element then relaxed in the inserted into the roof of the gathering chain position, the spring biases the extensions of Wing against the inside of the gathering chain in front.
- corresponding latching bolts or comparable releasable fastening means engage at these locations, so that the driver element is securely installed in the gathering chain.
- a release of the driver elements from the gathering chain is then carried out by simply squeezing the driver wings, which advantageously also the detent is released.
- Corresponding locking elements can either be part of the collecting chain provided receiving segments, or be part of the driver elements, or a combination of both, as is generally known in the prior art in such locking systems.
- Corresponding locking elements can either be part of the collecting chain provided receiving segments, or be part of the driver elements, or a combination of both, as is generally known in the prior art in such locking systems.
- a spring alternative tensioning mechanisms both active and passive, such as various other elastic materials.
- these elements are particularly simple and user-friendly, low maintenance and inexpensive, such as the said spring.
- the other aspect of the invention relates to the endless gathering chain itself, according to the key-lock principle. Accordingly, it is an endless gathering chain in a collection line, especially in the print finishing, the saddle segments of saddle segments and transducer segments is composed, wherein the saddle segments form a substantially saddle-shaped roof of the saddle chain and wherein at least one pickup a driver element tool-releasably fastened , with the already mentioned advantages over the prior art.
- a cover element can be detachably fastened to tools without tools on at least one pick-up segment, wherein the cover element is substantially flush with the saddle-shaped roof of the collecting chain.
- This serves to completely cover the gathering chain at different chain pitches in order to reduce the risk of injury and to prevent contamination of the signatures as well as the gathering chain.
- all receiver segments, in which no driver element is used are covered with a corresponding cover element.
- the cover part is, for example, an injection-molded part which can be moved in a hinge-like manner, that is to say has a certain elasticity.
- inventive endless chain 10 and the driver elements according to the invention are shown here only schematically.
- Other required for operation elements such as storage, drives, control, etc., which are not erfmdungsrelevant are shown only schematically or not at all, since they would be obvious to the skilled person alone and would hamper the understanding of the invention.
- An endless gathering chain 10 according to the invention which can be used in a saddle stitcher, not shown, for example, which is known from the prior art, is constructed essentially of saddle segments 12 and receiving segments 16. In between there are, among other things still cranked chain segments, as they are common in the generic collection chains from the prior art.
- the number of chain parts 30 from which ultimately the endless gathering chain 10 is composed mainly depends on the number of investors who deposit signatures 1 on the gathering chain 10.
- the gathering chain 10 is advantageously composed of the same chain parts 30 of a length L3, wherein the length L1 is for example 120 cm, cf. Fig. 3 ,
- the chain part 30 begins at a chain part beginning designated by the letter A and ends at a chain part end designated by the letter E.
- a reference line is denoted by the letter R is shown, which reproduces the position of the next driver element 40 along the gathering chain 10.
- a chain part 30 instead of the saddle segments 12 on receiving segments 16.
- a first chain pitch L1 or a second chain pitch L2 results, which corresponds to a substantially equidistant removal of drivers 40 along the chain member 30.
- the first chain pitch L1 this results in a chain pitch of four, ie a distance between the driver elements 40 of about 30 cm.
- the second chain pitch L2 thus results in a chain pitch of three, so a distance between the driver elements 40 of about 40 cm.
- each second driver 40 of the first chain pitch is provided with a cover 20, so a distance between the driver elements 40 of about 60 cm, or even a chain pitch of one, if only just a single driver element is built on the chain part and the other receiving segments 16 are covered with cover members 20, so that there is a distance between the driver elements 40 of about 120 cm.
- the chain part shown has, for example, therefore six receiving segments 16, which are occupied depending on the chain pitch with a driver element 40 or a cover 20.
- the saddle segments 12 of the gathering chain 10 have a roof 14, wherein the saddle segments 12 of the gathering chain 10 in their entirety form a substantially continuous saddle.
- the signatures 1 are stored, so that when the gathering chain 10 in the in Fig. 2 with the reference character T marked transport direction moves gradually stack of signatures 1 on the gathering chain 10 form.
- the signatures 1 are pushed onto the gathering chain 10 by driver elements 30 at the trailing edge.
- a support blade is arranged under the opener drums, on which the opened signature 1 is stored, so that the open sides of the signature hang down on both sides of the gathering chain 10.
- the driver wings 41, 41 'then push the stack of signatures of the support blade, wherein still a retaining element can be provided, which ensures that the signature 1 actually from the driver wing 41, 41' of Squeeze is pushed and not already by stiction. This is so important for the formation of ordinary printed matter in that there is usually no burping of the collected signatures 1 on the gathering chain 10 before the staples are driven. As a result of the carrier lugs 41, 41 'projecting laterally beyond the ridge 11 but leaving the ridge itself free for a support bar, a particularly secure transfer of investors onto the gathering chain 10 can take place.
- the driver element 30 consists essentially of two driver wings 41, 41 ', which have a common pivot point 42 and are rotatably mounted in this.
- Each driver wing 41, 41' has an extension 43, 43 'below the pivot point, which protrudes into the receiving segment 16.
- a spring 47 is provided, the tensioned the driver wings 41, 41' against each other and also the driver wings 41, 41 'braced against the side wall 17 of the receiving segment 16 when the driver element 40 in the receiving segment 16 is used.
- openings 18 are provided in the side wall 17 of the receiving segment.
- the driver element 40 locking bolts 45, 45 ' which can engage in these openings 18 when inserted driver element 40.
- a cover 20 which can be used instead of the driver element 40 in the receiving segment 16 to produce a continuous roof 14 for signatures 1 on the gathering chain 10.
- the cover member 20 is e.g. an injection-molded plastic part that has enough elasticity to have a hinge action to easily remove it from the receiving segment 16 again.
- the desired chain pitch is determined, for example, depending on the dimensions of the signatures 1.
- the cover 20 is removed from the corresponding receiving segments 16 by compressing and lifting at the appropriate places.
- a driver element 40 is compressed on the driver wings 41, 41 ', whereby the Extensions 43, 43 'are pressed against the spring 47, so that the driver element 40 is inserted between the side walls 17 of a receiving segment 16 and positioned with the locking pins 45, 45' in front of the openings 18 of the side wall 17.
- the driver wings 41, 41 'are now released the latching pins 45, 45' snap into the openings 18 of the side wall 17 and the driver element 40 is fastened to the receiving segment 16.
- a release of the driver element 40 of the receiving segment 16 of the gathering chain 10 is just as fast and easy just the other way round.
- the receiving segments 16 are characterized from the outside, such as by their shape, an inscription or a color code that a simple assignment is possible, which of the receiving segments 16 of the gathering chain 10 must be replaced in order to achieve what chain pitch.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a driver element for an endless gathering chain in a collection route, in particular in the print finishing as well as a corresponding endless collecting chain.
Such gathering chains and carriers can be found especially in saddle stitchers in which signatures are deposited along the gathering chain of investors on the gathering chain and fed by the driver of a stitching station. There, the superimposed signatures are stapled and then trimmed in a trimmer on three sides to produce a finished printed product. When signatures are in saddle stitches folded sheets that are folded one or more times and are placed along this at least one fold on the saddle-shaped gathering chain.
As in other machines, the productivity of the machine does not depend solely on the operating speed, but rather on how many products can be processed with the machine in a given time. In saddle stitchers, one of the upper constraints is the speed with which the gathering chain is driven, which is also related to significant aerodynamic factors that make it difficult to transport the hitherto loosely stacked signatures on the gathering chain at higher speeds. To increase the number of products per unit time and thus the productivity of the saddle stitcher without the speed of the To increase the gathering chain, the chain pitch, ie the distance between the carriers on the gathering chain, is adapted to the product size. Since a lesser distance between the drivers on the gathering chain is sufficient for smaller products, a corresponding reduction in this distance allows more products to be deposited on the gathering chain per unit of time and productivity to be increased. The problem with this in the prior art is that changing the chain pitch, if at all possible, however, is a laborious task, which in turn means a prolonged service life between jobs, which in turn reduces productivity. Therefore, in some saddle stitchers, the gathering chain has saddle segments and picker segments, whereby pickup elements can be plugged into the picker segments. These are in the driver elements to polyurethane parts which remain due to their elasticity positively in the Aufnehmersegmenten and actually can be taken out without tools again to change the chain pitch of the gathering chain. In practice, however, has shown that just taking out the driver elements from the Aufnehmersegmenten can not always be done without tools, since the driver elements like to jam due to their design and it can ultimately come to removing the driver elements and probably the gathering chain when removing ,
It is the object of the invention to provide alternative entrainment elements and a matching gathering chain with which a change of the chain pitch in a simple, fast and damage-free manner is possible and thereby in particular the productivity of such a gathering chain with corresponding entrainment elements, saddle stitchers increase.
This object is achieved with the carriers with the features of claim 1 and a collecting chain with the features of claim 7 advantageous. Further features emerge from the dependent claims and the following description of a selected embodiment.
Accordingly, the carriers according to the invention are a driver element for an endless gathering chain in a collection line, in particular during print finishing, wherein the collecting chain is composed of saddle segments and receiver segments, the saddle segments being essentially one Form saddle-shaped roof of the gathering chain and wherein the driver element is releasably attachable tool-free on a pick-up segment, wherein the driver element has two driver wings, wherein the driver wings are biased against each other. The driving wings have a common pivot axis and are advantageously biased in the installed in the gathering chain layer against the inner sides of the gathering chain. Due to the bias between the driver wings, a snap effect can be achieved, which leads to a secure and reproducible engagement of the driver element in the receiving segment. This ensures that the installation and removal of the driver elements in the gathering chain to change the chain pitch actually takes place without tools. The tool-less change drastically reduces set-up time for different chain pitches, increasing productivity. In addition, such tool-less retrofitting is typically simpler and can be done by a less talented operator quickly, easily, and without the risk of damaging the device.
In an advantageous embodiment of the inventive driver elements protrude the two driver wings laterally from the roof of the collector chain, and in particular protrude beyond the ridge of the roof. In this way, more space remains directly above the ridge of the gathering chain so that overlay swords located above the ridge can have a correspondingly short distance to the investors and thus the transfer of the signatures to the gathering chain is more secure. Advantageously, so the driver can push the signatures directly from the support bar, which is not readily possible with carriers that are located directly on the ridge of the gathering chain.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the inventive driver elements, the driver wings on an extension into the interior of the roof of the gathering chain, which and the extension has a connecting element, by means of which the driver elements are releasably connectable to the collector chain. Such designed driver elements can be compressed so easily to insert into the gathering chain on the wings. As a result of the common swivel axis, the extension of the wings extending into the interior of the roof is compressed, for example, against a spring, similar to a pair of scissors. If the compressed driver element then relaxed in the inserted into the roof of the gathering chain position, the spring biases the extensions of Wing against the inside of the gathering chain in front. Advantageously, corresponding latching bolts or comparable releasable fastening means engage at these locations, so that the driver element is securely installed in the gathering chain. A release of the driver elements from the gathering chain is then carried out by simply squeezing the driver wings, which advantageously also the detent is released. Corresponding locking elements can either be part of the collecting chain provided receiving segments, or be part of the driver elements, or a combination of both, as is generally known in the prior art in such locking systems. Incidentally, of course, can also be used to a spring alternative tensioning mechanisms, both active and passive, such as various other elastic materials. Advantageously, however, these elements are particularly simple and user-friendly, low maintenance and inexpensive, such as the said spring.
The other aspect of the invention relates to the endless gathering chain itself, according to the key-lock principle.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the endless collecting chain according to the invention, a cover element can be detachably fastened to tools without tools on at least one pick-up segment, wherein the cover element is substantially flush with the saddle-shaped roof of the collecting chain. This serves to completely cover the gathering chain at different chain pitches in order to reduce the risk of injury and to prevent contamination of the signatures as well as the gathering chain. Typically, all receiver segments, in which no driver element is used, are covered with a corresponding cover element. The cover part is, for example, an injection-molded part which can be moved in a hinge-like manner, that is to say has a certain elasticity.

An

The invention has been explained in the context of a saddle-shaped saddle stitcher. However, it is clear that other collection lines, such as a collection channel in which not only signatures but also unfolded sheets can be collected, can be equipped with a corresponding gathering chain, this gathering

Claims (9)
- Entrainment element (40) for an endless saddle chain (10) in a collating path, in particular in the field of the further processing of printed products, the saddle chain (10) being composed of saddle segments (12) and receiving segments (16), the saddle segments (12) forming an essentially saddle-shaped roof (14) of the saddle chain (10) and the entrainment element (40) being attachachable to a receiving segment (16) so as to be releasable without the use of a tool and the entrainment element (40) comprising two entrainment fins (41, 41') that are prestressed against each other,
characterized by
the fact that the entrainment fins (41, 41') are capable of being tensioned against the inner sides of the saddle chain (10). - Entrainment element (40) according to Claim 1,
characterized by
the fact that the entrainment fins (41, 41') laterally protrude from the roof (14) of the saddle chain (10) and in particular extend beyond the ridge (11) of the roof (14). - Entrainment element (40) according to Claim 1,
characterized by
the fact that the entrainment fins (41, 41') have a common axis of rotation (42). - Entrainment element (40) according to Claim 2,
characterized by
the fact that an extension (43, 43') of the entrainment fins (41, 41') extends into the interior of the roof (14) of the saddle chain (10) and has a connecting element (45, 45') for removably connecting the entrainment elements (40) to the saddle chain (10). - Entrainment element (40) according to Claim 1,
characterized by
the fact that the entrainment elements (40) are designed in such a way that they are rotatable essentially in the outer contour of a roller chain (10). - Endless saddle chain (10) in a collating path, in particular in the field of the further processing of printed products, wherein the saddle chain (10) is composed of saddle segments (12) and receiving segments (16), the saddle segments (12) forming an essentially saddle-shaped roof (14) of the saddle chain (10) and wherein an entrainment element (40) according to Claim 1 is attached to at least one receiving segment (16).
- Endless saddle chain (10) according to Claim 6,
characterized by
the fact that a cover element (20) is attachable to at least one receiving segment (16) so as to be removable without the use of a tool, the cover element (20) being essentially flush with the saddle-shaped roof (14) of the saddle chain (10). - Endless saddle chain (10) according to Claim 6,
characterized by
the fact that the receiving segments (16) in the saddle chain (10) are arranged to be spaced apart from each other in such a way that by applying the entrainment elements (40) to selected receiving segments (16), different chain divisions (L1, L2) of the saddle chain (10) are achievable. - Endless saddle chain (10) according to Claim 6,
characterized by
the fact that the saddle chain (10) is composed of a plurality of identical chain parts (30), the chain parts (30) being connectible to each other, thus in particular rendering the saddle chain (10) extendable, each chain part (30) including at least one receiving segment (16).
