Claims (12)

  1. A transmission for a panic bar (46) comprising
    - a base element (10, 26) which has a fastening plane (12) for contact with a door, in particular with a frame of a door;
    - a receiver (42) for a four-cornered bar which is rotatably journalled in the base element (10, 26) and whose axis of rotation extends perpendicular to the fastening plane (12); and
    - transmission elements (48, 44, 54) for the conversion of a component of movement of a panic bar (46) directed toward the fastening plane into a rotational movement of the receiver (42) for a four-cornered bar,
    wherein the receiver (42) for a four-cornered bar is provided at least regionally with an outer toothed arrangement (54) which is in operational connection with a rotatable toothed element (44) which can be acted on to make a rotational movement by a drive element (48) rotationally fixedly couplable with a panic bar (46); and wherein the axes of rotation of the toothed element (44) and of the receiver (42) for a four-cornered bar extend parallel to one another; wherein the base element (10, 26) has two mutually spaced apart bearing lugs (16, 34) for a panic bar (46) which extend perpendicular to the fastening plane (12),
    characterized in that
    both bearing lugs are arranged on the side of the axis of rotation of the receiver (42) for a four-cornered bar adjacent the panic bar (46).
  2. A transmission in accordance with claim 1, characterized in that the outer toothed arrangement (54) of the receiver (42) for a four-cornered bar extends over less than half of its peripheral region, with it being arranged at least substantially on the side of the receiver (42) for a four-cornered bar adjacent the panic bar (46).
  3. A transmission in accordance with one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the outer toothed arrangement (54) of the receiver (42) for a four-cornered bar has between three and six teeth, in particular four teeth.
  4. A transmission in accordance with any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the toothed element (44) in operational connection with the outer toothed arrangement (54) of the receiver (42) for a four-cornered bar is arranged on the side of the receiver (42) for a four-cornered bar adjacent the panic bar (46).
  5. A transmission in accordance with any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the toothed element (44) has teeth (56) which are arranged along a line of an arc of a circle whose center is in the axis of rotation of the toothed element (44).
  6. A transmission in accordance with any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the toothed element (44) has between two and five teeth (56), in particular three teeth.
  7. A transmission in accordance with any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the toothed element (44) has a radial lug (52) extending perpendicular to its axis of rotation outside its region provided with teeth (56).
  8. A transmission in accordance with any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the drive element (48) rotationally fixedly couplable with or fixedly connected to the panic bar (46) is rotatable together with the panic bar (46) about its axis of rotation.
  9. A transmission in accordance with one of the claims 7 or 8, characterized in that the drive element (48) couplable with or fixedly connected to the panic bar (46) is made to act on the radial lug (52).
  10. A transmission in accordance with any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the base element (10, 26) forms a housing section for the receiver (42) for a four-cornered bar with its outer toothed arrangement (54) and for the toothed element (44) in operational connection therewith, with the dimensions of this housing section perpendicular to the fastening plane (12) amounting to less than 18 mm and in particular amounting to approximately 12 mm.
  11. A transmission in accordance with any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a spiral spring (62) is provided between the two bearing lugs (16, 34) and its one end can be supported at the base element (10, 26) and its other end at a panic bar (46).
  12. A panic bar (46) having a transmission in accordance with any one of the preceding claims.
