Description

The invention relates to a heatable roller with a smooth, hard surface for the production and / or treatment of a fibrous web, in particular paper, cardboard or tissue web, with a base tube made of weldable steel, on which at least one welding layer is applied, which has a greater hardness as the ground pipe. It further relates to a method for producing such a roller according to the preamble of claim 15. A roller and a method of this kind are known from the WO 03/076714 A2 known.

Until now, only chill rolls or forged and inductively hardened steel rolls have been used as heatable rolls with a particularly smooth, hard surface. Both types of rollers are expensive and available only in certain, ie relatively large dimensions on the market. In addition, they are subject to large residual stress problems. In addition, a higher wear resistance would be desirable. Also regarding the maintenance of a certain hardness layer thickness results in the previously known rollers considerable problems, which adversely affects in particular the dimensional stability. For inductive hardened forged steel rolls, although the depth of hardening can be set relatively precisely, in the transition from hardened to uncured layer an inherent stress peak occurs. In addition, a chill roll after a particular damage can only be turned off. Finally, in a roll of chilled cast material, an increasing increase in hardness always occurs radially from the inside to the outside, whereby the axial drilling of heating channels through the roll shell is considerably impeded.

In addition to chill rolls and hardened steel rolls, chrome casting (KSTV) is also used.

For example, in wheels of rail vehicles and steel rolling mills, a so-called "armored welding" is already known.

At the time of the WO 03/076714 A2 known heatable roll can vary certain properties of the roll surface such as the hardness and the thermal conductivity in the cross machine direction.

The invention has for its object to provide an improved roller and an improved method of the type mentioned, in which the aforementioned problems are eliminated.

With regard to the heatable roller, this object is achieved according to the invention in that the hardness of the welding layer increases radially outward from the base tube and the roller has a surface hardness of Vickers ≥ 600 HV, in particular ≥ 700 HV, in particular ≥ 750 HV and preferably of approximately 800 HV , owns.

The base tube of the roller can thus be made of a relatively simple weldable steel, while over one or more hard welding layers are applied.

Since the layer to be welded has relatively freely determinable components, the physical and chemical properties of the layer or the various layers of this layer are variably adjustable. According to the invention, the welding layer is produced with a hardness increasing radially outward from the base tube, internal stresses are correspondingly reduced. In addition, a basic tube made of simple steel can be used for the heatable rolls of generally relatively thick wall thickness in question, which can be very easily drilled.

Advantageously, the welding layer consists of a metal alloy which can be welded to the base tube. In principle, all metal alloys come into question, which are welded to the base tube.

Preferably, the welding layer is spirally applied to the base tube. Thus, for example, the layer can be welded in a spiral manner when the base tube rotates.

Conventional chill rolls have hardnesses of about 530 HV. With the application of a welding layer according to the invention, curing up to, for example, about 800 HV is conceivable without further ado.

Dabei beträgt die Dicke einer jeweiligen Schweißlage vorzugsweise etwa 3 mm.The welding layer may be formed by one or by a plurality of welding layers. In this case, the thickness of a respective welding layer is preferably about 3 mm.

The total thickness of the welding layer after the finishing of the surface, for example by turning or grinding, is advantageously in a range from about 1 to about 20 mm, preferably in a range from about 3 to about 10 mm.

The heatable roll may in particular be a rotating hollow roll with flanged mounted journals.

Advantageously, the roller is provided with peripheral, preferably parallel to the roll axis extending heating channels or holes.

Eine bevorzugte Wandstärke der beheizbaren Walze liegt in einem Bereich von etwa 100 bis etwa 200 mm.A preferred wall thickness of the heatable roll is in a range of about 100 to about 200 mm.

The base tube of the heatable roller may in particular consist of a forged tube, a seamlessly drawn tube or a turned round steel.

As already mentioned, a base tube made of simple steel, which can be drilled very easily, can be used for the heatable rolls of generally relatively thick wall thickness in question here. In addition, in the roll according to the invention, the residual stresses can be significantly reduced. When the roller is heated to temperatures in the range of 100 ° to 250 ° C, the sum of residual stresses and external stresses is reduced to a manageable level. In contrast to the conventional rolls, a constant hardness layer thickness can be achieved according to the invention, which brings about a significantly better dimensional stability and a better dynamic running behavior of the roll.

Another decisive advantage of the heatable roller according to the invention is that it offers improved repair options. Thus, in the case of the roller according to the invention, after a respective damage, the respective repair can be carried out by renewed build-up welding.

With regard to the method, the abovementioned object according to the invention is correspondingly achieved in that the welding layer is produced with a hardness increasing radially outward from the base tube and with the welding layer a surface hardness of Vickers ≥ 600 HV, in particular ≥ 700 HV, in particular ≥ 750 HV and preferably of about 800 HV.

The welding of the welding layer is expediently carried out under powder or under protective gas and by a material addition in the form of at least one band or wire.

As already mentioned, the welding layer can advantageously be applied spirally when the base body rotates.

According to an advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the final material properties of the coating are adjusted after the welding job by a corresponding heat treatment, which comprises an annealing treatment, wherein the adjustable via the subsequent heat treatment material properties, the toughness, the microstructure, dimensional stability, residual stress, hardness and / or the like.

Thus, it is a heatable roll of a steel base pipe with hard hardfacing produced in which the desired material properties, here, for example, the hardness can be adjusted by the subsequent heat treatment in the desired manner.

The welding layer is preferably provided in conjunction with a tungsten carbide layer.

As far as a smooth surface is mentioned here, this is preferably defined by a roughness value Ra in a range from about 0.01 to about 0.2 μm.
