Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Kokillenbreitseite (100) für eine Breitseite einer Trichterkokille zum Gießen von Metall. Bekannte Kokillenbreitseiten dieser Art umfassen mindestens einen nutenförmigen Kühlkanal (110) in der Rückseite (R) der Breitseite. Neben dem Kühlkanal (110) sind auf der Rückseite der Kokillenbreitseite Aussparungen (A1, ..., A5) vorgesehen und Füllstücke (140-1, ... 140-5), zum zumindest teilweisen Verschließen der Aussparungen. Um die Kokillenbreitseite im Hinblick auf die Einstellung einer im wesentlichen konstanten Durchflussgeschwindigkeit eines Kühlmediums durch den Kühlkanal konstruktiv zu vereinfachen, wird vorgeschlagen, die Aussparungen (A1, ..., A5) so auszuformen, dass sie den Kühlkanal 110 quer zu dessen Längsrichtung durchkreuzen. Darüber hinaus sind die Aussparungen (A1, ..., A5) in ihrer Ausdehnung in Längsrichtung des Kühlkanals auf einen Teilabschnitt des Kühlkanals beschränkt und sie weisen in dieser Richtung einen rechteckförmigen und/oder keilförmigen Querschnitt auf, so dass die Tiefe des Kühlkanals (110) in der Kokillenbreitseite (100) im Bereich der durchkreuzenden Aussparungen (A1, ..., A5) stufenförmig und/oder linear verändert ist und mit entsprechenden Füllstücken angefüllt ist.
