Description

The present invention aims to achieve a bulletproof vest.

One of the aims of the present invention is to provide a bulletproof vest that is light, allows to stop the balls by limiting as much as possible the deformation of the portion located against the body to avoid any trauma thereof.
A bulletproof vest of the prior art is described in US Patent 5196252 .
The bulletproof vest according to the invention is as defined in claim 1, improvements and advantageous embodiments being defined in the subclaims.

Preferably, the vest comprises between ten and fifteen first panels and between three and five second panels.

The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to a particular embodiment given by way of example only and shown in the accompanying drawings.

Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the different thicknesses involved in the realization of the bulletproof vest.

Figure 2 montre l'ensemble des épaisseurs reliées ensemble.
Figure 2 shows all the thicknesses connected together.
Of course, the different thicknesses entering the vest, according to the invention, are housed in pockets of it so as to protect the chest, back and possibly other parts of the body. Such a vest is well known and is not shown here.

According to the invention, the vest comprises, on the outwardly facing side, a series of several first panels 1 comprising a fabric consisting of aramid fiber plies (in particular 4 plies), preferably unidirectional, preferably -crossant at 0/90 °, the fabric being sandwiched in a film of thermoplastic material.

Le poids du tissu est notamment compris entre 200 g/m2 et 300 g/m2, par exemple 242 g/m2. Son épaisseur est comprise entre 0,15 et 0,4 mm, par exemple 0,3 mm.The weight of the fabric is in particular between 200 g / m 2 and 300 g / m 2 , for example 242 g / m 2 . Its thickness is between 0.15 and 0.4 mm, for example 0.3 mm.

The first panels 1 may be in particular of the number of 8 to 15. Such a material is known under the trademark Goldflex.

Ce matériau est notamment connu sous la marque KYTEX, type ARTEX C1R3S4.On the side facing the body, the vest is provided with a series of second panels 2, for example four, which are each formed of a fabric of preferably unidirectional aramid fibers embedded in a thermoplastic film and which each comprise reinforcing or holding yarns 3 which form a series of seam lines, or punctures, parallel. Each wire 3 is stitched in a given panel 2 to form the reinforcement line. The wire passes alternately from one side of the panel 2 and the other, and preferably is in contact alternately with a face of the panel 2 and with its opposite face. A given thread is stitched through a single panel 2 corresponding. In particular, it is not used to link two neighboring second panels together. The holding wire or wires 3 are made of PES, having a tex titre of between 80 and 130, for example 110 f36. The fabric material of the second panel or panels is in particular TWARON 2000, 1100dTex f1000, having a density of 13.9 and a weight of 480 g / m 2 (+ - 10g / m 2 ). Each second panel has a total weight of between 400 and 600 g / m 2 , for example 495 g / m 2 (+/- 14 g / m 2 ) and a thickness of between 0.30 and 0.50 mm, for example 0.45 mm (+ -0.05). This material is in particular known under the trademark KYTEX, type ARTEX C1R3S4.

Each panel has at least one reinforcement yarn, preferably at least two yarns, per centimeter of width of the panels. The width of the panel is the size of the panel in the direction extending along the waist of the wearer of the vest or horizontal direction, and its height is the dimension in the vertical direction, in the worn state of the vest. The sewing threads or stitching lines are preferably vertical. They are separated by an interval having a dimension, measured in a direction perpendicular to the lines, and in particular in a horizontal direction, between 3 and 10 mm, preferably between 4 and 6 mm, and more preferably about 5 mm. Thus for a panel having a height of about 46.5 cm and a width of about 53 cm, there are 106 seam lines.

All of these panels are sewn along two opposite edges by cracked para-aramid threads 4 which have good mechanical strength and a very low elongation at break. It is also possible instead to fix the panels to each other by sticky tape, commonly called scotch tape. It is important to differentiate between the son 4 and reinforcement son 3. The latter do not have the function of fixing between them several panels.

According to the tests carried out, it was found that all the panels 1 made it possible to stop munitions in multi-impact and on shots with incidence.

The set of second panels, thanks to the stitching or reinforcement stitching lines, makes it possible to distribute the shock over the entire surface and to avoid a trauma to the body during the impact of the balls, the deformation of these panels being, during said impact of the balls, of the order of 25 mm.

None of the first panels has sewing lines, or stitching, except the seam lines for fastening together all the panels. This lack of sewing line differentiates them from the second panels.

With this arrangement, one can achieve a very effective vest and low weight.
