Claims (10)

  1. An electric wheelchair comprising front drive wheels (1) and rear steering wheels (2) which are each mounted on a base frame (3) and also a seat (5) provided with a backrest (4), wherein the base frame (3) carries a reciprocating column (6) to the free end portion whereof there is fixed a sub-frame (7) on which there is mounted an intermediate framework (9) that is pivotal about a first horizontal axle (8) and has mounted thereon a seat framework (11) which is pivotal about a second horizontal axle (10) and carries the seat (5), wherein the first axle (8) is arranged to the rear as seen in the direction of travel and the second axle (10) is arranged to the front as seen in the direction of travel, and wherein a first adjustment unit (12) is arranged between the sub-frame (7) and the intermediate framework (9) whilst a second adjustment unit (13) is arranged between the intermediate framework (9) and the seat framework (11).
  2. An electric wheelchair according to Claim 1, characterized in that the sub frame (7), the intermediate framework (9) and the seat framework (11) form a scissor mechanism.
  3. An electric wheelchair according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the first adjustment unit (12) is constructed such as to tilt the seat (5) forwardly into an upright or standing position.
  4. An electric wheelchair according to any of the Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the second adjustment unit (13) is constructed such as to tilt the seat (5) rearwardly into a prone position.
  5. An electric wheelchair according to any of the Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the first (12) and the second (13) adjustment unit are constructed such as to raise the seat (5) in a substantially horizontal position.
  6. An electric wheelchair according to any of the Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the first (12) and the second (13) adjustment unit are in the form of telescopic linear drives.
