Abstract

The projectile (1), comprising a penetration body (2) with an inner cavity (3) closed by a base (4), has the body made from a material with a limit of elasticity of 1200 Megapascals or more, and its nose (2a) containing at least one insert (7) in the form of a bar with a pointed tip (16), fixed in a bore (15). The insert is made from a material with higher mechanical performance than the body, such as a fritted tungsten alloy, depleted uranium or tantalum.
