- braking member As frustoconical member 14 is supported on a spider assembly of springs, braking member is free to move to any direction and to center accurately its position with respect to the cylinder, which circumstance allows it to engage the beveled edge 12r of the cylinder regularly and with a uniform pressure along the edge. In fact, in its settling action against the delivery edge of the drum, frustoconical member 14 can rotate and shift freely to any direction, i.e., without being guided by anything.
