Abstract

The method involves holding a sheet (3) at a leading edge, and discarding the sheet by releasing from the holding. The discarded sheet is moved again subsequently to the edge and brought and further forwarded into a hanging position. The sheet is removed for a reorientation from the horizontal position into the hanging position in a sheet support (3). The sheet is further processed during the conveyance in the hanging position. An independent claim is also included for a device for transporting a sheet that is laid-out by a sheet processing machine.

Description

The invention is in the field of transport and further processing of printed products. The invention relates to a method and a device according to the preambles of the corresponding independent claims. Method and apparatus are used for onward transport and optionally further processing of sheets which are laid out by a sheet-processing machine, in particular by a sheet-fed printing machine (for example sheet-fed offset printing press).

Sheet-fed printing machines are known to be equipped with a delivery device, which usually has a rotating delivery conveyor with a plurality of successively rotating grippers and a stacking device. The delivery conveyor adjoins the last sheet-transporting cylinder of the last printing unit or a post-treatment plant following the last printing unit (eg coating unit), each gripper of the delivery conveyor detecting a sheet supplied by this cylinder at its leading edge oriented transversely to the conveying direction and via the stacking device transported where the sheet is released from the gripper and placed on a stack support or on a stack of sheets lying on the pile stack. If necessary, the Bow, before it settles in the stacking device, braked by a sheet brake.

The stacking device of the delivery device usually has a stack support (eg pallet whose support surface has grooves) and an auxiliary stack support (eg rake with bars that fit into the grooves of the pallet), wherein stack support and auxiliary stack support are displaced in the vertical direction, such that their Height position is adaptable to the height of the resulting stack. The auxiliary stacking support is pushed over a stack deposited on the stack support into the stacking device (usually in the conveying direction of the delivery conveyor) when the stack lying on the stack support has a predetermined height. While further sheets are being deposited on the auxiliary stack support, the stack resting on the stack support including this stack support is removed from the stack apparatus, for example with the aid of a lift truck, and a new stack support is positioned in the stack apparatus and driven under the auxiliary stack support, which is then pulled away from the stack position , The further transport and further processing of the stacked sheets takes place off-line.

In many cases, the sheets or inks or varnishes on the sheet immediately after leaving the last printing unit or aftertreatment are not so completely dry or cured that the sheets, without gluing together, stacked on each other or, without smearing, of stationary device parts can be performed. For this reason, for example, it is proposed to provide between stationary device parts and the sheets to be transported and possibly between adjacent such arc by appropriate supply of compressed air cushion and / or provide between last printing unit or aftertreatment auxiliary devices, the drying or curing of the printing inks or paints serve.

It is also known that the sheets are not stored in a larger stack on the stack support but in relatively small sub-stacks, which are separated by stacking parts and arranged one above the other, is ensured by appropriate support of the stacking partitions that the part stacks in the vertical direction spaced from each other are. This measure prevents the pressure on the stacked sheets from rapidly increasing as a result of an excessively high number of further sheets deposited thereon, so that air present between the sheets is rapidly pressed out and the sheets are undesirably pressed against one another. Even with this measure, therefore, an attempt is made to prevent sticking of the stacked sheets together.

The invention now has the task of providing a method and a device with which from the delivery device of a sheet-processing machine, in particular from a sheetfed press sheet designed to be transported and optionally further processed, the further transport and optionally further processing according to the invention on-line to connect to the sheet delivery. In this case, the method and apparatus according to the invention should also be applicable for the acquisition of sheets with not completely dry or not completely cured ink, the sheets should take no damage. Nevertheless, the method and device according to the invention should be able to be operated at low speeds simply and in particular even at high unit performance.

This object is achieved by the method and the device as defined in the claims.

According to the invention, the sheets conveyed by the delivery conveyor in a manner known per se are deposited on a substantially horizontal sheet support sheet of grippers detected a further-promoting gripper conveyor, rotated in a hanging, that is, substantially vertical position and further transported in this position and optionally further processed. In this case, the sheets are gripped by the grippers of the gripper conveyor at the same edge, as they were detected by the grippers of the delivery conveyor, namely at the leading edge at the delivery. Each of a gripper of the gripper conveyor per a plurality of up to about 100 sheets, in particular between 50 and 100 sheets is detected, these combined sheets are arranged in a small stack of sheets.

While the delivery conveyor conveys the sheets at about the same speed as the sheet processing machine and also in the same arrangement, ie one behind the other and with substantially aligned in the conveying direction surfaces, the weiterfördernde gripper conveyor transports the sheets against each other, for example, aligned transversely to the conveying direction surfaces and relative small distances from each other. For this reason, the conveying speed of the gripper conveyor is relevantly smaller than the speed of the delivery conveyor, in particular because it does not grab single sheet but small stack of sheets and transported hanging.

If, for example, sheets of A1 format are laid out transversely at a rate of 5 sheets per second and are picked up by the gripper conveyor in sheet stacks of 50 sheets and transported further, the grippers of the gripper conveyor typically being at a distance of about 10 cm from one another the delivery conveyor has a conveying speed of approx. 3 m / s, while the gripper conveyor has a speed of only approx. 0.01 m / s.

For the rotation of the sheet stack from a substantially horizontal position in which they are stored on the sheet support, in a hanging position in the they are kept transported at upper edges by the gripper of the gripper conveyor, the sheet stacks are pulled, for example, from the sheet support, to be then brought into the hanging position. If the laid sheets or inks or varnishes on this sheet are not completely dried or cured, it is advantageous or even necessary that relative movements are prevented parallel to the sheet surfaces between sheet support and sheet and also between adjacent sheets. In such cases, for the reorientation of the sheet stack from the horizontal (horizontal) to the vertical (hanging) position proposed to bring the sheet support together with the sheet in the hanging or vertical position and only then to distance across the sheet stacks.

It turns out that the sheets supported in the relatively small pile of sheets do not adversely affect each other. This is due in particular to the fact that the force of gravity acts in parallel with the sheet surfaces, ie that the sheet is not pressed against one another, and that the sheets of each stack are held in a stable arrangement relative to one another by the gripper of the gripper conveyor. Since the speed of the gripper conveyor is small (see above), the airstream also does not undesirably move the free-hanging arch areas relative to each other.

Between the deposition of the sheet on the sheet support and the reorientation of the deposited sheet stack in the hanging position, the stack support can be moved together with the sheet positioned thereon, for example, in the vertical and / or horizontal direction, the sheet stack before, during or after such movement of the grippers of the gripper conveyor are taken.

Further processing steps that can be carried out during conveyance by the gripper conveyor are, for example, dry or heat treat, intermediate storage, optionally combined with reorganization or cutting. Advantageously, such further processing steps are carried out on the suspended conveyed sheet stacks.

To deliver the sheet stacks, they are released by the grippers of the gripper conveyor and, for example, transferred to a further gripper conveyor, optionally stacked on another sheet edge, stacked in a stacking device or placed behind one another or partially overlapping on a conveyor support (e.g.

The inventive device is thus equipped for connection to a known delivery conveyor a sheet processing machine and has as a main component on a further conveying gripper conveyor, wherein functionally between the delivery conveyor and gripper conveyor a sheet support is arranged, which may belong to the sheet processing machine or the inventive device.

The gripper conveyor has, as is well known from the delivery conveyor, successively conveyable gripper, which are equipped for detecting aligned transversely to the conveying direction sheet edges and for example have the shape of two mutually pressed strips or configured as a gripper row, the strips or gripper rows advantageously about as long as the edges to be taken. While the grippers are arranged on the delivery conveyor in relatively large (possibly format-dependent) and constantly regular distances from each other, the distances between the grippers of the further conveying gripper conveyor are relevantly smaller and can be regular and consistent or even variable and thus possibly irregular.

The sheet support is advantageously at least downwardly displaceable. Advantageously, a plurality of sheet supports is provided which cooperate alternately with the delivery conveyor in the sheet storage or with the gripper conveyor in the sheet gripping and / or sheet reorientation or bring the stored sheet stack from a delivery position to a gripping position. Advantageously, the sheet supports run in succession on an orbit and may additionally be arranged displaceably on arms, for example. In this way, it is possible to realize relatively complex orbits in terms of speed and motion.

The further conveying gripper conveyor is arranged and controlled so that its gripper from the delivery conveyor on the sheet support sheet designed on their leading edge in the delivery edge, that is, at the dismissed by the grippers of the delivery conveyor edge, can take, the sheet support between display and seizure if necessary, is moved. The gripper conveyor or its gripper are further arranged, designed and controlled so that they bring the gripped sheets from the position in which they are held by the sheet support in the gripping position (eg substantially horizontal position) in a suspended position and in transport this further and, where appropriate, relinquish it from this position. For this purpose, the grippers of the gripper conveyor are advantageously pivotable in the plane of the conveying direction and this pivotability in the further promotion of a free pivoting. The gripper conveyor of the device according to the invention is synchronized with the delivery conveyor or with the sheet supports such that each of its grippers detects a plurality of laid-out sheets deposited as a small stack, brings them into a suspended position and transports them further.

FIG. 1 shows a very schematic side view of a device according to the invention with reference to the inventive method will be described in detail. Left in the FIG. 1 is the delivery conveyor 1 (shown schematically in phantom) represented a sheet processing machine. This delivery conveyor 1 is, for example, a chain conveyor, on which grippers 2 are arranged in relatively large, matched to the sheet format and regular intervals. The gripper 2 advantageously have an extension transverse to the conveying direction, which corresponds approximately to the length of the sheet edges to be taken. The grippers 2 are designed, for example, as one each aligned transversely to the conveying direction gripper row. The delivery conveyor 1 cooperates with a arranged under the delivery conveyor 1 and at a distance to its grippers 2 sheet support 3 that in a conventional manner conveyed by the delivery conveyor 1 sheet 4 successively discharged from the delivery conveyor 1 and stored on the sheet support 3. Optionally, immediately before depositing additionally a sheet brake (not shown) and while depositing a front sheet stop 5 on the sheet 4. If necessary, the sheet support is lowered during laying so that the distance between the sheet delivery or one resting on the sheet support Sheet stack and the grippers of the delivery conveyor regardless of the stack height remains the same.

If the intended number of sheets is deposited on the sheet support 3, it is replaced by a further sheet support 3 '. For this purpose, the sheet delivery 3 is moved down in a conventional manner and pushed the other sheet support 3 ', for example in the conveying direction of the delivery conveyor 1 above. With the lowering of the sheet support 3 is also moved from the area of the sheet stop 5.

The weiterfördernde gripper conveyor 6 (shown schematically as a dotted line) is arranged and controlled so that his grippers 7 meet, for example, from above on leading edges of the deposited on the lowered sheet support 3 sheet 4 and can detect them. So that the sheet support does not interfere with such detection, its leading edge is as in FIG. 1 shown opposite the front edge of the deposited sheet 4 set back slightly or the front edge of the sheet support 3 has gaps through which the sub-gripper of a gripper 7 forming gripper row can be driven. So that the gripper conveyor can be operated continuously, the sheet support 3 is advantageously at least synchronized during gripping with the grippers 7 of the gripper conveyor 6 moves so that gripper and support have an equal height. Once the sheets are detected, the sheet support 3 is withdrawn, for example, parallel to the conveying direction of the delivery conveyor, so that the detected sheets slip from it and then assume a free-hanging, that is vertical position. In order to avoid deformation of the sheet in the region of the detected edge of the gripper is advantageously at least in the area in which the sheet or stack of sheets are rotated freely in the plane of the conveying direction and can thereby adapt to the new position of the sheet or sheet stack.

The in the FIG. 1 illustrated embodiment of the acquisition of the sheet 4 by the gripper 7 of the gripper conveyor requires at least two sheet supports 3 and 3 ', but advantageously has more than two sheet supports, as shown in the FIG. 1 is also shown. The more sheet stops are arranged between the position in which the sheets are laid out and the position in which the sheets are separated from the sheet support, the longer is the residence time of the sheets on the sheet supports. During this dwell time, the sheets can continue to dry and can stabilize the sheet stacks by becoming more compact by draining air between the sheets. Whether the sheets or sheet stacks will sooner or later be detected by the grippers 7 of the gripper conveyor during such a dwell time can be adapted to the stability of the sheets or sheet stacks or to equipment-side conditions.

During the said residence time, in which the sheet stacks 8 are moved lying on the sheet supports 3 downwards, the sheet supports 3 can also laterally, that is perpendicular to the paper surface of FIG. 1 are moved, so that the plane of the conveying direction of the delivery conveyor 1 is displaced laterally relative to the plane of the conveying direction of the gripper conveyor 6. In this way, the end face of the delivery conveyor 1 and at least positioned in the Auslgeposition stack support 3 remains largely free of other device parts, so that taken in a known manner from this page by staff probes, inserts inserted or other work can be performed.

Since the bow for their reorientation and for onward transport in the embodiment according to FIG. 1 are drawn from the sheet support, this embodiment is not suitable for sheets that tend (even after the above residence time) still smearing. Another embodiment of the acquisition of the sheet 4 by gripper 7 of the gripper conveyor 6, which is better suited for the case mentioned, is in connection with FIG. 5 described.

From the FIG. 1 shows that by corresponding synchronization of delivery conveyor 1, sheet supports 3 and gripper conveyor 6 different numbers of stacked sheets (sheet stack 8) grabbed by a gripper 7 of the gripper conveyor 6, reoriented and can be transported without the principle of the method or the Device would have to be changed.

The sheet stacks 8 conveyed by the gripper conveyor 6 at relatively small distances (typically about 10 cm) from one another and facing one another, essentially vertical surfaces, held at the upper edges, are conveyed through a further processing station 10, for example. This further processing station 10 may be, for example, an intermediate storage in which the sheet stacks are optionally reorganized, that is, their succession is changed, or it may be a drying plant in which the hanging sheet dried by heat and / or targeted air currents or cured inks or coatings become. The post-processing station 10 may also be a cutting station in which non-held sheet edges are trimmed.

After the further processing station 10, for example, still suspended conveyed sheet stack 8 are released from the gripper conveyor 6 and, for example, partially overlapping each other on a conveyor support 12 stored.

Further examples of further treatment stations and discharges by the gripper conveyor 6 are in connection with the FIGS. 2 to 4 addressed.

Figures 2 and 3 show two exemplary devices in which the inventive method is advantageously applicable.

According to FIG. 2 The sheets are in turn designed by the delivery conveyor 1 a sheet-processing machine on a sheet support 3 and taken over from there in small stacks 8 of the grippers 7 of the gripper conveyor 1 and placed in a hanging position. FIG. 2 shows two possible embodiments of the gripper conveyor, which are denoted by 6 and 6 ', wherein the conveyor 6 is a conveyor with equidistant grippers 7, so for example to a corresponding chain conveyor as the delivery conveyor 1, and the conveyor 6' to a conveyor with grippers 7 ', whose distances are variable from each other, so for example, to each other independent, gripper-carrying conveying elements, which are conveyed by means of suitable drives or by gravity in a guide channel.

After further processing, in the present case, only an intermediate storage or intermediate storage with reorganization (see also FIG. 4 ) and which is traversed by the sheet stacks 8, the sheet stacks 8 are discharged from the gripper conveyor 6 or 6 'or from its grippers 7 or 7', for example as already described in US Pat FIG. 1 shown as a scale flow deposited on a conveyor support 12, to be subsequently folded, for example, individually and loaded on pallets 13 or winding 14. However, the stack of sheets 8 can also be stacked in a stacking device 15 to larger stacks and cut into these (cutting device 16), to then also be loaded, for example, on pallets 13.

If the gripper conveyor 6 'is equipped with independent, gripper-carrying conveying elements, it is obviously possible, the sheet stack 8 from the intermediate storage (further processing station 10) as needed by means of a switch 17 of one or the other storage and further processing supply. If the gripper conveyor 6 is equipped with fixedly arranged on a chain grippers 7, this is obviously possible only by a transfer to another conveyor.

FIG. 3 shows a similar device as FIG. 2 , The same elements are therefore designated by the same reference numerals and will not be described. Instead of in FIG. 2 shown switch 17, with the help of individual gripper-carrying conveyor elements are selectively fed to one or the other storage and further processing, a carousel 20 or other displacement device is used here, with the whole filled with such conveying elements channel pieces 21 are rotated or moved differently and thereby optional can be connected to further channels. Also for this type of distribution of the conveyed are independent of each other eligible conveying elements necessary.

FIG. 4 shows an example of a built-in process according to the invention further processing station an intermediate storage (top view) in which the conveyed from the gripper conveyor sheet stack 8 not only stored and thereby possibly dried, but in particular can also be reorganized. Again, it is necessary that the sheet stack 8 are held by individually movable grippers 7 '. The sheet or stack of sheets held by the grippers 7 'are fed to the intermediate store 31 in a stream 30 which is formed at the outlet of the sheet-processing machine, that is to say when the sheets are taken over by the gripper conveyor. At the entrance of the intermediate storage 31, the sheet stacks are distributed together with the grippers 7 'individually or in trains of successive grippers 7' by means of switch 32 as needed or according to other criteria optionally on different, functionally parallel conveying paths 11.1, 11.2, 11.3, 11.4. From the exit of these conveyor routes the sheet stack with the grippers to another conveyor 32 (shown schematically as dotted line) passed, the further conveyor 32, for example, equidistant carrier 33 for the gripper-carrying conveyor elements, with which such conveyor elements can be taken from one of the conveyor paths 11.1 to 11.4 , In this case, the suspended position of the sheet stack is maintained, for example, but the sheet stack are, for example, aligned in the conveying direction and arranged away one behind the other.

FIG. 5 shows a further transfer of deposited on a sheet support 3 sheet stacks 8 to the gripper 7 of the gripper conveyor 6. This embodiment is particularly suitable for the handling of sheets that are moved due to risk of damage parallel to their surfaces neither relative to stationary device parts nor relative to adjacent sheets allowed to. Identical elements are designated by the same reference numerals as in FIG FIG. 1 ,

Again, a plurality of sheet supports 3 are provided which not only move downwardly for transfer but are also rotated so as to support the reorientation of the sheet stack 8 primarily controlled by the grippers 7 of the gripper conveyor 6. Once the sheet stack 8 and the sheet supports 3 have a vertical position, the sheet support 3 is accelerated relative to sheet stack and, as soon as it has a sufficient distance away, for example, led away down.

Advantageously, the sheet stacks 8 are detected by the grippers 7 of the gripper conveyor 6 before the sheet support 3 is turned off, so that the sheets on the sheet support 3 can slip in any case. Are the sheet supports 3 but equipped with rear sheet stops 40 and the sheets are relatively stable, it is also possible to detect the sheet stack 8 until the sheet support 3 is already in an inclined position.

Obviously it is also for those in FIG. 5 embodiment shown possible to move the sheet supports 3 not only in the manner shown but also in addition to the seizure of the sheet stack by the gripper 7 side, that is perpendicular to the plane of the paper FIG. 5 to postpone, as described above for the embodiment according to FIG. 1 is described.
