The method involves using an evaluation unit (5) and a sensor (6) for rotation and revolutinary speed of drum to detect possible presence of child in washer. During the first phase (10) of the wash program an improper motion of the drum (16) is detected and on detection the drum drive is stopped and an alarm is sounded.
