Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for attaching a boot to a gliding board, particularly adapted to ski boot safety bindings, that is to say devices intended to securely hold a boot on a ski by exerting pressure on a ski boot. the heel of the shoe and pressing it forward against a front fixing device called abutment, ensuring an automatic release of the shoe in case of fall of the skier. It also relates to a ski on which is fixed such a device.
  • a ski binding comprises a heel and a stop for respectively cooperating with the rear and the front of a ski boot.
  • Each element of this fixing device is based on a base placed on the ski, cooperating with two jaws whose function is to maintain the boot on the ski. These jaws are connected to the base by means of a spring that releases the shoe when the force exerted by the shoe exceeds a certain threshold.
  • the stop allows the lateral rotation of the jaws along a vertical axis to release the shoe in case of torsion and allows the rotation of the jaws upwards along a horizontal axis to release the boot in case of falling behind the skier.
  • a first object of the present invention is a device for attaching a boot to a gliding board which improves safety when falling back with torsion.
  • a second object of the present invention is a device for attaching a shoe to a gliding board which remains simple and cheap.
  • the invention is based on a stop whose bearing surface between the jaw and the body on the jaw and / or the body has an inclined portion to represent a specific setting of the release threshold of the attachment for certain particular falls.
  • FIGS. 1 to 9 schematically illustrate an embodiment of the invention for a ski binding.
  • such a device rests on a stop 1 composed of a body 2 and two jaws 3.
  • the jaws 3 are connected to the body 2 by a tie rod positioned on the axis 8 of the body 2, pulling itself connected to a not shown spring whose hardness is adjustable by a front screw 4.
  • the jaws 3 are rotatable about a horizontal axis 5 which corresponds to the rear and transverse upper edge of the body 2. In the event of a rear fall, the jaws 3 bear on this axis 5 to rotate up and release the shoe 10.
  • the jaws 3 are rotatable about a substantially vertical axis 6 which corresponds to a rear edge of each side of the body 2.
  • a vertical edge or axis of rotation 6 is called "knife”.
  • FIG. 4 illustrates the implementation of such a rotation in the case of a fall in pure torsion, with no effort towards the rear.
  • the body 2 thus has on its rear face a bearing zone for the U-shaped jaws 3, which consists of an upper central part 5 and two lateral parts or knives 6. Each of these parts is located in a same plane substantially vertical and transverse to the longitudinal direction along the axis 8 of the stop.
  • the U-shaped bearing zone is not totally coplanar but also has two upper lateral parts 7, corresponding to the angles situated between the parts 5 and 6, which have the characteristic of to be inclined forwards with respect to the plane defined by parts 5 and 6.
  • This part 7 is defined more precisely schematically as a portion of triangular surface delimited by a first point 7a, in border with the vertical lateral part 6, a second point 7b, in border with the horizontal and central upper part 5, and a third point 7c positioned in front of points 7a and 7b and higher than point 7a. From each of the points 7a and 7b, the inclination of the axes 5 and 6 changes discontinuously to form the upper lateral part 7 inclined towards the front of the abutment, with respect to a vertical plane transverse to the abutment, as this is particularly visible in Figures 5 to 7. The jaws remain unchanged in this embodiment and as shown in Figure 13 for example.
  • FIGS. 8 and 9 represent the triggering of the fastening in the case of a torsionally falling back.
  • the jaw tends both to a rotation upwards and laterally to the outside of the abutment, and naturally bears on the part 7 of the bearing zone of the body 2.
  • this inclined portion 7 makes it easier to rotate the jaws than if it were in the plane of the other parts 5 and 6, because it induces a modification of the torsion torque, exerted by the combination of the force of the shoe 10 counterbalanced by the effect of the spring of the binding, in a sense facilitating the release of the shoe.
  • a simple and slight modification of the bearing surface of the body 2 of the abutment it is possible to obtain a different adjustment of the force required to trigger the stop, variable according to the type of fall, and without change the setting of the trigger spring.
  • the geometry of the inclined plane 7 it is possible to predefine the characteristics of the trigger as a function of the torsion and the back force exerted during a fall.
  • the point 7b is moved toward the center of the stop, the more the effect of the invention will apply for a weak twist.
  • the concept of the invention can thus be applied to a rear drop with almost no torsion.
  • the point 7a is lower, however still remaining above the axis of the tie rod linked to the spring of the stop, that is to say the longitudinal axis 8 of the abutment, plus the effect of the invention will apply for a low vertical force on the jaws in case of falling backwards.
  • the angle of inclination of the surface 7, ie the positioning of the point 7c, also defines an intensity of the drop in the torsion torque exerted.
  • Those skilled in the art will therefore adapt the shape of the bearing surface between the jaws 3 and the body 2 according to the needs of each particular application.
  • FIG. 13 represents a jaw 3 of the abutment whose bearing surfaces 5 'and 6' are intended to come into contact on the bearing surfaces 5 and 6 of the body 2.
  • the concept of the invention can be implemented by a modification of the surface of the jaws 3 intended to come into contact with the body 2 of the abutment, the bearing zone on the body 2 remaining unchanged, so as to obtain by equivalence the same results as those described above.
  • the bearing surface of the jaw 3 has a surface inclined towards the rear of the abutment.
  • one of the bearing surfaces of at least the body 2 or jaws 3 has a surface with an inclined portion, and therefore a generally non-planar bearing surface.
  • the bearing surface has at least one portion of discontinuous inclination, different from the entire surface.
  • the same concept can be implemented with curved surfaces, a part 7, 7 'still being distinguished with respect to the whole of the bearing surface by a different inclination for the purpose of modifying setting the release trigger for a specific type of fall.
  • this concept has been implemented for a specific adjustment of the release of a fixation in the event of a fall with torsion but it can be applied for any type of fall. It can also be implemented for a setting in an opposite direction, that is to say in order to increase the trigger threshold of certain types of falls.
