Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a crash cushion for mounting on vehicles according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
Impact dampers serve to dampen the kinetic energy of a third vehicle colliding with a road maintenance vehicle, in particular to protect the occupants of the maintenance vehicles from injury. At the same time, the driver of the impacting vehicle, ie the person causing the accident, also benefits from a damped impact. Impact absorbers are also arranged on road branches, in particular on Y-shaped branches on highways in the region of the projecting between the two branching lanes of guard rails.
From the prior art, a crash cushion is known, comprising a box-shaped damping element, which on attached in a direction of impact elastically deformable strap. Together with the elastically deformable bracket, which is hinged at the end of the maintenance vehicle, the damping element from the use position, ie lying on or slightly above the road, in a transport position which is perpendicular to the position of use, be pivoted. The road maintenance vehicle can therefore, as soon as it is brought to a standstill for work, pivot the impact absorber and thus protect its occupants or possibly persons working in front of the maintenance vehicle from the consequences of a third party vehicle approaching the maintenance vehicle. The production of this known impact absorber is very complex and therefore expensive, which means that not all road maintenance vehicles are equipped with such impact absorbers for cost reasons.
From DE 297 09 396 U1 a crash cushion made of lightweight concrete is known, which can be arranged against obstacles to traffic areas, such as junctions of highways. Lightweight concrete impact absorbers probably protect the obstacle from too much damage. However, they cause costly personal and material damage to the fallible vehicle and are also not suitable because of their weight as a mobile impact protection for maintenance vehicles.
An object of the present invention is to provide an impact absorber for road maintenance vehicles and road signals, which is inexpensive to produce, has a low weight and can absorb a high degree of impact energy.
This object is achieved by a crash cushion according to the features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the crash cushion are described in the dependent claims.
The use of assembled corrugated board compartments, wrapped in a tear-resistant foil and protected by a compartment receiving container, makes it possible to solve the problem in a cost-effective manner. The cardboard, in particular corrugated, existing compartments can be assembled to form appropriately sized cubic bodies and form after welding or gluing in a tear-resistant film a very effective damper element. In particular, this has advantages if, after an impact, the protective container and possibly also the film burst, so that the filling, ie the compartments can emerge. Smaller or larger parts of the compartments that fly away can not hurt nearby people. The compartment receiving foil, which is preferably evacuated, additionally absorbs some of the kinetic energy, such as this does an air cushion. In addition, the film protects the compartments, even if they are already treated against moisture, from destruction by the latter. Preferably, the impact absorbers are not made from a single compartment with a single film, but from several smaller packages, which in turn are arranged in turn, for example, in twos or threes within a protective container and / or foil sheaths. Depending on the required absorption energy, one, two or three such containers are arranged one behind the other and connected to one another. A vehicle-mounted lifting / swiveling device allows the impact absorbers to pivot upward when not in use, ie while the vehicle is moving.

The maintenance vehicle 1 shown in Figure 1, for example, a truck, carries at its end a
In each
Air-tight wrapping films are also particularly used in agriculture, where green fodder is wrapped and held together as bales in such films. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the
In a collision of a third vehicle on a vehicle 1 of the maintenance service, the force is applied via the
