Description

Mobile installation for the hygienic treatment and the transport of brushes and artist's brushes
The invention relates to a mobile installation for the hygienic treatment of make-up brushes and artist's brushes in the form of a small travel case in which a partition is installed with openings and clips in which to fix brushes and artist's brushes which are then positioned with their bristles in the openings in the partition, and in which also ventilation and heating devices, plus the power source required for these, are included that generate a heated air flow to flow away through aforementioned openings so that the brushes and artist's brushes dry quickly after they have been cleaned with a disinfectant fluid. The mobile installation also serves to transport the brushes and artist's brushes, the disinfectant fluid and the requisite accessories for the hygienic treatment of the brushes and artist's brushes.
To date, cleaning of brushes and artist's brushes used to apply cosmetic preparations to people's faces and to visible skin areas of people performing on a set or stage was done with the aid of a cloth soaked in alcohol. Research has shown such cleaning to be inadequate. Testing a brush cleaned by this method on a culture tray showed many bacteria still to be present in the brush.
Object of the invention is a mobile installation in the form of a small travel case, which a beautician uses at any location to apply make-up to several persons for the purpose of their performance while ma taining optimum hygienic requirements, which holds a container with a water base disinfectant fluid, which specially developed fluid is antibacterial and possesses a low germ content, since alcohol and other fluids or solvents impair the brushes and artist's brushes, in which an air heating element and a ventilation facility are realized that provide a drying air flow around the bristles of the brushes and artist's brushes thus ensuring that disinfected brushes and artist's brushes are dried within a short interval, in the order of ten minutes, after which the next person can be made up using disinfected brushes and artist's brushes, and in which brushes and artist's brushes are fixed in such a way that the bristles are not damaged during transport.
It should be noted that the UK patent GB2278047 describes a system for paint brushes that can be cleaned using a solvent with filter present in the container, after which the brushes are dried using a forced non-heated air flow. Cleaning installations are also described in the patents GB 2213708, GB2351434, EP0289875 and US4314766, in which cleaning of objects is realized by stirring the cleaning fluid by means of air or rotating blades.
The object of the mobile installation, in accordance with the invention, is both to rapidly dry brushes and artist's brushes that have been cleaned in a water base disinfectant and to transport the brushes and artist's brushes and cleaning agents, so as to ensure implementation of hygienic precautions in any and all locations. Research has shown that drying a set of brushes and artist's brushes takes about ten minutes, and that this requires a power source delivering about eight to ten Watt.
The mobile installation, in accordance with the invention, is described in further detail with reference to a number of illustrations. These illustrations do not, however, serve to limit the protection scope but rather to demonstrate one possible design thereof.
Illustration 1 shows in section the mobile installation in accordance with the invention.
Illustration 2 shows in perspective the interior of the mobile installation in accordance with the invention.
The mobile installation in accordance with the invention consists of a case (1) fitted with a lid (2) which has ventilation openings (2a) and onto which is attached a handle (2b). The case (1) is fitted with a system of partitions (3) and (4) that divide the chamber. The partition (4) demarcates a storage compartment (8) for a bottle (8a) containing disinfectant fluid and extra accessories in the form of cups or similar for disinfecting the brushes and artist's brushes. The partition (3) contains a number of openings (9) that enclose the bristles of the brushes and artist's brushes. The brushes and artist's brushes (10) are fixed in the clips (11) mounted at the top of the partition. Openings not being used (9) are sealed with an accessory (10a) to limit ventilation loss during drying. Openings too big to fix narrow bristles can be narrowed using filler rings (10b) to assist the drying air-flow around the bristles of a brush.
The heating element (5) and the fan (5a) provide a heated air-flow (6) that leaves the mobile installation via the openings (9) and the ventilation openings (2a) or the open lid (2). The power for the heating element (5) and the fan (5a) is provided from the compartment (7) in which a transformer (7a) and an exchangeable clip-in accumulator battery (7b) are housed for power from the grid, if available, via the transformer (7a) or for twelve Volt power from the accumulator battery (7b) when the installation is used in the field should grid power be unavailable. Modern accumulator batteries utilized in power tools, with capacities of more than one ampere / hour, are highly suitable for the required drive. Two or three of these accumulator batteries supply sufficient power to allow some ten cleaning actions for the set of brushes and artist's brushes, Another option might be to provide the power for the components that generate the air flow by means of a gaseous power source in the form of a gas cartridge that provides both drive and heating. This power source is more complex though than the power source in the form of accumulator batteries.
The mobile installation in accordance with the invention is confined neither to the sample design presented in the drawings and described above nor to the defined functioning. There are several ways whereby variations within the framework of the invention are feasible.
For instance, fewer or more openings (9) can be realized to concurrently store and dry fewer or more brushes and artist's brushes, metal sheet or synthetic material can be used for the case (1), the lid (2) and the partitions (3), (4) and (7), other power sources such as a solar panel or wind power, if available, can be used to power the mobile installation and such.
The mobile installation in accordance with the invention can be interpreted for other applications as well, for instance for paint brushes and artist's brushes whereby in such an event must be incorporated a solvent for the paints being used instead of the disinfectant fluid, or for the artist's brushes used by a water colourist or calligrapher. Dimensions and shape of the mobile installation may be freely varied within reasonable limits.
The mobile installation in accordance with the invention is not limited in its use in different situations or applications.
