Description

The present invention relates to storage boxes for protective goggles, such as anti-smoke goggles, for aircraft flight personnel.

Une telle boîte est décrite dans US 5 493 349 A .More particularly, the invention relates to a box of this type which comprises a bottom box and at least two doors. These two doors have closure means adapted to hold the glasses in the box, between the bottom of the box and the doors. These doors are hinged to the bottom of the box between at least two extreme positions: a closed position in which these doors at least partially cover the glasses and, and an open position in which the doors are spaced apart from each other to allow them to exit. glasses of the box. Such a box is described in US 5,493,349 A .

Thanks to these provisions the box makes it possible to store glasses and to protect them at least partially, when their use is not required.

In the different figures, the same references designate identical or similar elements.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is described in detail below.

According to this embodiment, it is a storage box 2 for goggles 2 for aircrew aircraft. This box 1 is usually placed in an airplane cockpit. The glasses 2 are for example anti-smoke glasses.

As shown in FIG. 1, this box 1 comprises a box bottom 3 and two doors 4 and 5. In variants, the box 1 could have a larger number of doors, for example four arranged symmetrically with respect to the diagonals, etc. The doors 4, 5 considered from the outside of the box 1, when the doors 4, 5 are closed, are substantially convex. The doors 4, 5 are transparent; this makes it possible to check the presence of the glasses 2 in the box 1 and to check the state of the visor of these glasses 2.

The box bottom 3 has substantially a rectangular shape, with two side walls 6 and 7, a wall upper 8 and a lower wall 9. These four side walls 6, 7, upper 8 and lower 9 extend substantially perpendicularly from the box bottom 3, and defines a substantially rectangular open face 14.

The bottom box 3 has two feet 10. Each foot 10 has an adjacent surface 11 and substantially perpendicular to a side wall 6 or 7. This surface 11 is pierced with two holes 12 adapted for fixing the box on a support such as a partition in a cockpit and this at the fingertips of the aircrew.

Each side wall is provided with closure means 13. These closure means 13 are for example hinges. Each hinge 13 supports a door 4 or 5, and allows to open and close it, about an axis Z substantially parallel to one of the short sides of the open face 14. The doors 4, 5 are articulated on the bottom box 3 between at least two extreme positions: a closed position in which the doors 4, 5 at least partially cover the glasses 2 (see Figure 3) and an open position in which the doors 4, 5 are spaced apart the other to allow the glasses 2 out of the box 1 (see Figures 1 and 2).

The hinges 13 are bi-stable. They have a first stable position corresponding to the closed position of the doors (Figure 3). In this position, the closing means 13 are adapted to maintain, with sufficient force, the glasses 2 in the box 1, between the bottom of the box 3 and the doors 4, 5, even if they are not held on the bottom 3. The hinges 13 have a second stable position which corresponds to the open position of the doors 4, 5. This second stable position is adapted so that the doors 4, 5 do not close unexpectedly. In this way, the user can put back the glasses 2 in the box 1, with only one hand, when the doors 4, 5 are open.

As shown in Figure 2, the spacing e of the side walls 6 and 7 is adapted to hold the glasses 2 in the box 1 even when it is open. Thus, this spacing e is smaller than the size of the glasses 2 taken in their width, that is to say, parallel to the binocular direction. The box bottom 3 has guiding surfaces 15, extending from the surfaces 11 to the open face 14, so as to facilitate entry and blocking, with sufficient force, the lateral edges 16 of the glasses 2, in the bottom of box 3, during the introduction of the glasses 2 in the latter. Thus, a user can engage with one hand the glasses 2 in the box bottom 3, the glasses 2 remaining in position in the latter when the user releases them.

As shown in FIG. 3, the two doors 4 and 5 are symmetrical with respect to the median plane P of the box corresponding to the plane of bilateral symmetry of the glasses.

Each door 4 or 5 has a closing edge 17 approaching, in the closed position of the doors 4 and 5, the median plane P. This closing edge 17 comprises, an upper notch 18 and a lower notch 19.

The upper notch 18 of a door 4, with the notch high of the other door 5, allows to place a first finger, at a location H, on an edge of the glasses. The lower notch 19 is located substantially in correspondence, when the glasses 2 are in the box 1, the part of the glasses 2 intended to cover the nose. The low notch 19 of a door 4, with the low notch of the other door 5 with which it forms a substantially triangular cut, allows to place a second finger, in a place B, on another edge of the glasses 2 Thus, a user can grab the glasses in a clip, between places B and H, between two fingers and extract the glasses 2 of the box 3, with one hand. The convexity of the doors 4 and 5 does not oppose this extraction, it is necessary to have previously opened the doors 4 and 5.

The substantially triangular cut formed by the lower notches 19, when the doors 4 and 5 are closed, is adapted to also allow the gripping of the glasses 2, by the part of the glasses 2 intended to cover the nose. This arrangement is particularly suitable for glasses type MLD (Detachable Eyewear Mask or attachable). As explained above, the extraction of the glasses 2 from the box 3 can be performed with one hand and without having previously opened the doors 4, 5.

The box 1 according to the invention makes it possible to store several types of anti-smoke glasses, while guaranteeing an immediate availability of the stored spectacles 2. Thus, the glasses stored in the box according to the invention can be placed on the head of a user in less than 15 seconds as recommended by the regulations.
