Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a cremone handle for window units, in particular for window units that are outward opening or form curtain walls.
- Document
EP-A-0874119 describes a cremone handle according to the preamble ofclaim 1. - The window units, whether metal or synthetic, forming outward opening or curtain wall windows comprise a traditional fixed frame and a mobile sash with vertical members and horizontal members, but, unlike a traditional side-hung window, the sash is pivoted, that is to say, it opens and closes by rotating about an upper horizontal member or about an axis parallel with it, or using a system of levers hinged between the fixed frame and the sash in such a way as to allow pivot opening, or a complete sash movement forward and backward, that is to say, parallel with the fixed frame.
- This configuration of the sash movement system causes some variations both in the window hardware and in the assembly and positioning of the accessories used to move the sash.
- As illustrated in
Figure 1 (an exploded view of part of the movement units on one of these types of known window sashes), part of the sash contact andclosing elements 12 are located at the lower horizontal member, where the sash movement handle unit M is also fitted, whilst another part of the elements is located on the two vertical members. - This different positioning of the contact and closing elements means that the handle unit M is also in a different position (again see
Figure 1 ), mounted on the surface of the horizontal member forming the wall of the tubular chamber of the section bar which forms the sash. - If the handle unit M were the traditional handle body with a grip attached to it and a centred axis of rotation, see
Figure 1 , it would be difficult to move the grip IM, since the handle is mounted close to the glazing and, therefore, the space allowing access for the user's hand on the grip IM in that position would be at a minimum to allow grip rotation with the axis of rotation Z parallel with the extension of the glazing. - This problem is currently solved using an off centre grip, shaped so that it moves away from the window sash, increasing the distance between the grip and the glazing.
- Said solution, on one hand, solving the problem of grasping the grip, on the other hand made it more necessary to always allow for the possibility of fitting a grip shaped to the right or left on the handle body depending on operating or aesthetic requirements of the window unit, with obvious negative effects on the stocking of such handle parts.
- This disadvantage arises as a result of the fact that the particular shape of the off centre grip and the fact that it is made in a single special block for application on the handle body does not allow any type of reversibility when it is assembled on the handle body.
- The aim of the present invention is, therefore, to overcome these disadvantages by providing a cremone handle for window units, in particular for window units which open outwards or form curtain walls which is extremely practical, easy to use and allows the grip to be reversed.
- Accordingly, this aim is achieved by a cremone handle for window units, in particular for outward opening window units comprising a fixed frame and a mobile sash consisting of two vertical members and two horizontal members connected to the fixed frame in such a way as to allow at least part of the sash to move away from and towards the fixed frame so as to form respective sash opening and closing configurations. A handle unit is attached to the lower horizontal member of the sash, the handle unit being designed to allow sash opening and closing. The handle unit comprises at least: a handle body which can be attached to the lower horizontal member of the sash, a movement grip projecting from one side of the handle body and able to rotate about an axis of movement, control parts projecting from the opposite side of the handle body to the grip, and able to connect to movement devices for the sash closing and opening configurations. The handle unit also comprises an angled connecting element, inserted between the handle body and the grip, which can be connected on one side to the control parts, through the handle body, and on the other side is fitted with means for a removable connection to the grip, applicable reversibly, that is to say, on the right or on the left of the handle body, to the connecting element and able to rotate with said element about the axis of movement.
- The technical features of the present invention, in accordance with the above aims, are apparent in the claims herein, and the advantages are more clearly described in the detailed description below, with reference to the accompanying drawings, which illustrate a preferred embodiment of the invention, without limiting the scope of its application, and in which:
-
Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view with some parts cut away to better illustrate others of an outward opening or curtain wall window unit and a relative cremone handle of the known type; -
Figure 2 is a schematic perspective view with some parts cut away to better illustrate others of the window unit illustrated inFigure 1 , to which a cremone handle made in accordance with the present invention is applied; -
Figure 3 is a schematic front view of the window unit illustrated inFigure 2 ; -
Figure 4 is a partially exploded perspective view of the cremone handle made in accordance with the present invention; -
Figure 5 is a perspective partial view of a detail of the handle grip illustrated inFigure 4 ; -
Figures 6 and 7 are respectively a top plan view and a partial cross-section through line VII - VII inFigure 6 of an alternative embodiment of the cremone handle illustrated in the previous figures. With reference to the accompanying drawings, and in particular with reference toFigures 1 and 2 , the cremone handle disclosed, labelled 100 as a whole, can be used on outward opening or curtain wall window units comprising at least afixed frame 1 and amobile sash 2 consisting of twovertical members horizontal members fixed frame 1 in such a way as to allow at least part of thesash 2 to move away from and towards thefixed frame 1 so as to form respective window opening and closing configurations. - The
sash 2 connection can be created usingconnecting means 7 which may be, by way of example, known hinges applied parallel with or at the upperhorizontal member 6, or systems of levers which are hinged and connected to thefixed frame 1 andsash 2 to allow pivot opening of thesash 2 or complete movements of thesash 2 relative to thefixed frame 1. - A
handle unit 8 is attached to the lowerhorizontal member 5 of thesash 2. The handle unit is designed to allow opening and, respectively, closing, of the sash 2 (see arrows F inFigures 1 and 2 ). - This
handle unit 8 comprises at least: - a
handle body 9 which can be attached to the lowerhorizontal member 5 of thesash 2; - a
movement grip 10 projecting from one side of thehandle body 9 and able to rotate about an axis of movement Z; -
control parts 11, projecting from the opposite side of thehandle body 9 to thegrip 10, and which can be connected tomovement devices 12 for forming the above-mentionedsash 2 closing and opening configurations (these devices are schematically illustrated inFigures 1 and 2 since they are of the known type). - As shown in
Figure 2 , thecontrol parts 11 comprise a pair ofbars grip 10 by means of elements inside thehandle body 9, of the known type and not illustrated here. As illustrated inFigures 3 and 4 , thehandle 100 comprises an angled connectingelement 13, inserted between thehandle body 9 and agrip 10, and which can be connected on one side to thecontrol parts 11, through thehandle body 9 and on the other side has means 14 for a removable connection to thegrip 10 applicable reversibly, that is to say to the right or left of thehandle body 9 depending on sash operating requirements, to the connectingelement 13 and able to rotate with saidelement 13 about the axis of movement Z. - More precisely, the angled connecting
element 13 has the shape of an inverted "L" on one side and, on itsend surface 13a, has aseat 15 for stably housing acontrol shaft 11c, which is one of thecontrol parts 11, rotatably housed in thehandle body 9, whilst on theother end surface 13b, theelement 13 has means 14 for a removable connection to thegrip 10. - In practice, on the
end surface 13b, theelement 13 has a projectingpin 16, forming theconnecting means 14, which can be connected in acorresponding seat 17 in the portion of thegrip 10 which faces theend surface 13b so as to render the angled connectingelement 13 integral with thegrip 10. - As illustrated in
Figure 5 , on thegrip 10 there may be means 18 for removably securing thegrip 10 on the angled connectingelement 13. Themeans 18 may be located on thegrip 10 and act on thepin 16 housed in theseat 17 in thegrip 10. - These
securing means 18 may comprise a threadedgrub screw 18g which can be screwed into a through-seat 19 in thegrip 10 and in such a way that it transversally intercepts thepin 16 housed in theseat 17 of thegrip 10. - As illustrated again in
Figure 4 , thehandle 100 axis of movement Z extends vertically, whilst the angular connectingelement 13 forms agrip 10 axis of motion X perpendicular to the axis of movement Z and such that thegrip 10 and the angled connectingelement 13 rotate in a substantially horizontal plane (see arrows F1). - As illustrated in
Figures 6 and 7 , another way of accessorizing thehandle 100 disclosed may be to insert a safety lock with a key. - To do this, on the connecting
element 13 there areparts 20 for locking and releasing thehandle 100 rotation, extending along an axis Z' parallel with the axis of movement Z and close to thecontrol shaft 11c. - These locking and
release parts 20 operate between the connectingelement 13 and thehandle body 9 to allow rotation of the connectingelement 13 and thegrip 10 relative to thehandle body 9 to be stopped. - By way of example, without in any way limiting the scope of the invention disclosed, the locking and release parts 20 (see
Figure 7 ) may comprise akey cylinder 21 housed in arelative seat 22 in the connectingelement 13. - The upper end of the
cylinder 21 is located, in view, at anupper surface 13c of the connectingelement 13, whilst the lower end of the cylinder has apin 23 which is vertically mobile between a first, release operating position (illustrated with a dashed line inFigure 7 ), in which thepin 23 is completely housed inside the connectingelement 13 and allows free rotation of the connectingelement 13 with thegrip 10, and a second, locked forward operating position (illustrated with a continuous line inFigure 7 ), in which thepin 23 projects and is housed in aseat 24 in thehandle body 9 so as to stop the rotation of the connectingelement 13 and thegrip 10 relative to thehandle body 9. - Moreover, the
handle body 9, may have twoseats 24 diametrically opposed so that thehandle 100 can be fitted with thegrip 10 to the left or the right without having to change the position of the locking and releaseparts 20. - Therefore, a handle structured in this way achieves the preset aims thanks to a simple structure, but with the possibility of reversible fitting of the grip, according to the operating or aesthetic requirements of the window fitted.
- This reversible fitting is made simple and fast thanks to the presence of two separate elements which, in practice, form the grip, and thanks to the connection of the pin with the threaded grub screw, allowing rapid and easy grip positioning and securing on the left or the right, whichever is most suitable.
- The invention described is suitable for obvious industrial applications and may be subject to modifications and variations without thereby departing from the scope of the inventive concept as claimed.
Claims (9)
- A cremone handle for window units, in particular for outward opening window units, comprising at least a fixed frame (1) and a mobile sash (2) consisting of vertical members (3, 4) and horizontal members (5, 6) and connected to the fixed frame in such a way that at least part of the sash (2) can move away from and towards the fixed frame (1) to form respective sash opening and closing configurations; the cremone handle comprising a handle unit (8) which can be connected to the lower horizontal member (5) of the sash (2) and designed to allow sash (2) opening and closing; the handle unit (8) comprising at least:- a handle body (9) which can be attached to the lower horizontal member (5) of the sash (2);- a movement grip (10) projecting from one side of the handle body (9) and able to rotate about an axis of movement (Z);- control parts (11), projecting from the opposite side of the handle body (9) to the grip (10), and able to connect to movement devices (12) for the sash (2) closing and opening configurationscharacterized in that, the handle (100) comprises an angled connecting element (13), inserted between the handle body (9) and the grip (10), and able to connect, on one side, to the control parts (11) through the handle body (9) and, on the other side, having means (14) for a removable connection to the grip (10), applicable reversibly, that is to say to the right or left of the handle body (9), to the connecting element (13) and able to rotate with said element (13) about the axis of movement (Z).
- The handle according to claim 1, characterised in that the angled connecting element (13) has the shape of an inverted "L" and has, on its end surface (13a), a seat (15) for stably housing a control shaft (11c) which is one of the control parts (11), rotatably housed in the handle body (9) and, on the other end surface, having the means (14) for connection to the grip (10).
- The handle according to claim 1, characterised in that the angled connecting element (13) has the shape of an inverted "L" and, on its end surface (13b), has a projecting pin (16), forming the connecting means (14), which can be connected in a corresponding seat (17) in the portion of the grip (10) facing the end surface (13b), rendering the angled connecting element (13) integral with the grip (10).
- The handle according to claim 3, comprising means (18) for removably securing the grip (10) on the angled connecting element (13), said means being positioned on the grip (10) and acting on the pin (16) housed in the seat (17) in the grip (10).
- The handle according to claim 4, characterised in that the securing means (18) comprise a threaded grub screw (18g) which can be screwed into a through-seat (19) in the grip (10) in such a way that it transversally intercepts the pin (16) housed in the seat (17) in the grip (10).
- The handle according to claim 1, characterised in that the axis of movement (Z) of the handle (100) extends vertically and the angled connecting element (13) forms a grip (10) axis of motion (X) which is perpendicular to the axis of movement (Z) and such that the grip (10) and the angled connecting element (13) rotate in a substantially horizontal plane.
- The handle according to any of the foregoing claims, characterised in that on the connecting element (13) there are parts (20) for locking and releasing handle (100) rotation, extending along an axis (Z') parallel with the axis of movement (Z) and close to the control shaft (11c); the locking and release parts (20) acting between the connecting element (13) and the handle body (9) in such a way as to allow rotation of the connecting element (13) and the grip (10) relative to the handle body (9) to be stopped.
- The handle according to claim 7, characterised in that the locking and release parts (20) comprise a key cylinder (21) housed in a seat (22) in the connecting element (13); the upper end of the cylinder (21) being positioned at an upper surface (13c) of the connecting element (13) and the lower end of the cylinder having a pin (23) which is mobile between a first, release operating position, in which the pin (23) is housed inside the connecting element (13) and allows free rotation of the connecting element (13) with the grip (10), and a second, locked forward position, in which the pin (23) projects and is housed in a seat (24) in the handle body (9) so as to stop the rotation of the connecting element (13) and the grip (10).
- The handle according to claim 8, characterised in that the handle body (9) has two seats (24) which are diametrically opposed so that the handle (100) can be fitted with the grip (10) to the left or the right.
