Abstract

The engine has an injector rail (6), injectors (8) and an ultrasonic wave generator (10). The generator produces ultrasonic waves that are transmitted to a membrane and to fuel filled in the rail. Each of the injectors is in fuel communication with the inner side of the rail. The waves propagate through the fuel to inner side of each injector up to an injection nozzle, for cleaning the nozzle. An independent claim is also included for a method of cleaning an injector of an engine.

Description

The invention relates to the engine injectors of vehicle.

Document US2002 / 0070298 discloses an injector motor with an ultrasonic wave generator allowing among other things to clean the interior injector to prevent clogging.

However, this device has the disadvantage that it complicates the structure of the injector.

An object of the invention is to allow cleaning injectors without complicating their structure.

For this purpose, the invention provides an engine comprising:
  • an injector rail; and
  • an ultrasonic wave generator,
the generator being arranged to generate the waves in the rail so that the waves propagate to at least one injector of the engine.

Thus, the waves being generated at a distance of the injector, the structure of the injector is simplified. In addition, the same generator can generate waves to several injectors engine, or all of the engine injectors. So we simplify the overall structure of the engine while reducing its cost.

  • le générateur est unique et agencé de sorte que les ondes se propagent jusqu'à au moins deux injecteurs du moteur ;
  • le générateur comprend un actionneur piezo-électrique ;
  • le générateur s'étend à une extrémité longitudinale du rail ;
  • il comprend une membrane directement reliée au générateur pour recevoir les ondes et agencée pour être en contact avec un carburant présent dans le rail ;
  • la membrane présente une première face en contact avec le générateur et une deuxième face destinée à être en contact avec le carburant ;
  • la membrane est en appui sur un épaulement ;
The engine according to the invention may also have at least one of the following characteristics:
  • the generator is unique and arranged so that the waves propagate to at least two injectors of the engine;
  • the generator comprises a piezoelectric actuator;
  • the generator extends at a longitudinal end of the rail;
  • it comprises a membrane directly connected to the generator for receiving the waves and arranged to be in contact with a fuel present in the rail;
  • the membrane has a first face in contact with the generator and a second face intended to be in contact with the fuel;
  • the membrane is supported on a shoulder;
  • the membrane is tightened by a nut; and
  • it is a diesel engine.

Also provided according to the invention a method to clean an engine injector, in which one generates ultrasonic waves in a motor rail of so that the waves propagate to at least one engine injector.

Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent in the following description of a preferred embodiment given by way of non-limiting example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
  • Figure 1 is a schematic view of the injection circuit of an engine according to a preferred embodiment of the invention; and
  • FIG. 2 is a more detailed view in partial axial section of the circuit of FIG. 1.

We will describe with reference to FIGS. 2 a preferred embodiment of the motor according to the invention. It is an internal combustion engine vehicle and in this case a diesel engine.

The engine 2 comprises, in a conventional manner, a pump high pressure 4 and an injector rail 6 having an elongated general shape. The pump 4 is suitable for bring the fuel under pressure into the rail 6, by introducing it into the rail from one end longitudinal of this one, located on the left in the figure 1. This mixture will be injected into the engine cylinders for its operation.

On pourra prévoir qu'à chaque cylindre est affecté en propre un seul des injecteurs 8.In a similar way, the engine includes several injectors 8, for example 4 or 6, fed in parallel each from the rail 6 with the fuel. Each of these injectors is in communication with one of the engine cylinders so as to bring the fuel into the defined combustion chamber by this cylinder. We can predict that each cylinder is assigned to only one of the injectors 8.

Ce générateur est en l'espèce positionné à l'extrémité longitudinale droite du rail opposée à l'extrémité gauche associée à la pompe 4.According to the invention, the engine comprises a generator 10 ultrasonic waves. This generator is in this case positioned at the right longitudinal end of the rail opposite to the left end associated with the pump 4.

The engine comprises a circular flat membrane 14 extending in a plane perpendicular to the direction longitudinal rail. The membrane is supported by the area of its peripheral edge and by its front face 16 against an annular shoulder 18 of the rail. The membrane has a second face 20 opposite to the first face 16 and in contact with the actuator 12 at the center of this face. The membrane 14 may be for example metal or made of plastic

La première face 16 de la membrane est destinée à être en contact avec le liquide 22 remplissant la chambre interne du rail 6.The engine comprises means for fixing the membrane in the rail, constituted in this case by a nut 19 urging on the side of the second side 20 the membrane in the direction of the shoulder 18. The first face 16 of the membrane is intended to be in contact with the liquid 22 filling the internal chamber of the rail 6.

In operation, the generator 10 produces ultrasonic waves directly transmitted to the membrane 14, received by it, and transmitted to the fuel 22 filling the rail. Each of the injectors 8 being by elsewhere in fuel communication with the interior of the rail, these waves propagate through the liquid 22 inside each injector 8 up to the nozzle injection to clean them. When each injector performs the fuel injection into the associated cylinder chamber, the waves clean up the or the orifices of the injector.

Such an arrangement makes it possible to prevent fouling diesel injection nozzles. This keeps a good state of cleanliness in the injectors without having to disassemble them. Cleaning taking place during injection, it occurs as and when clogging of the nozzles.

The invention applies to all types of nozzles and especially to highly permeable nozzles sensitive to fouling phenomena, which are very useful to reach the future standards of depollution.

The interposition of the membrane between on the one hand the fuel 22 under pressure and secondly the actuator 12 makes it possible to balance the membrane under pressure without that it undergoes unbalanced solicitations.

On pourra prévoir de positionner le générateur 10 à un autre endroit qu'à l'extrémité longitudinale du rail, par exemple latéralement en regard des injecteurs 8.We can bring to the invention many changes without departing from the scope thereof. We may provide to position the generator 10 to a other place than at the longitudinal end of the rail, for example laterally next to the injectors 8.
