Definitions
- the present invention relates exclusively to the field of treatment of mail and more particularly relates to a jogging device mail items intended to equip a feed module in mail items from a mail processing machine.
- a device for jogging mail items that acts directly on the lateral positioning (and possibly rear) of mail items is essential in a mail processing machine because without jogging, the mail items would not show up in a position suitable for the printing station and the resulting postal imprint could be refused by the postal administration.
- This device must also be retractable to allow the passage of large mail items dimension.
- the present invention therefore aims to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks with an improved jogging device for exercising a optimal stress on the stack of mail items.
- An object of the invention is also to propose a device that allows the treatment of a battery large mail items (typically> 200 mm) of which the height exceeds an average value of 150 mm.
- Another goal of the invention is to propose a device whose integration into a machine traditional mail processing is easy to achieve without having to redefine the general architecture of this machine.
- a jogging device for mail processing comprising a receiving tray for receiving in a stack of items the mail items to be printed, a jogger to knock this pile of articles against a referencing wall, a means of selection to extract one by one from this pile of articles mail to print and a printing medium to print a postal imprint on the selected mail article, said jogging comprising a sliding slide sliding on a fixed slide one end of which is attached near said reference wall above a transport path of mail items and a flap of jogging, characterized in that it further comprises an external strip slidably mounted on said movable slide and at the terminal end of which is mounted said jogging flap, a friction pad forming a brake fixed on said fixed slide and mounted between said fixed slide and said movable slide, and an elastic element, one end of which is connected to said movable slide and the other end to said external strip so to ensure an automatic decline and a fixed value of said strip external to said movable slide once the pusher flap brought into contact with said
- Said setback is determined by the compressed length of a compression spring forming said elastic member.
- said friction pad is sized to apply a frictional force greater than the force obtained by the compression of said compression spring.
- said jogging flap is articulated at the terminal end said outer strip both around a vertical axis and an axis horizontal. It may further comprise an elastic element to pull the flap down against said receiving tray as it rotates around of said vertical axis.
- This elastic element is formed by a traction spring secured between a first pin secured to the jogging flap and a second stud secured to a support piece whose end is mounted on said axis horizontal and the other end can slide in a groove of the flap of jogging. It may also include a piece with a heel forming a secondary jaw element articulated on an axis fixed on the part support and provided with an oblong groove which cooperates with a pin of said jogging flap.
- said jogging flap further comprises a shaft which when rotating the shutter causes the embedding of a locking piece in an orifice of said outer strip to lock the flap in position of jogging.
- the present invention also relates to any machine for the treatment of mail integrating the aforementioned jogging device.
- a mail processing machine incorporating a jogging device is illustrated in Figure 1. It comprises classically downstream (in relation to the direction of movement of the articles of mail through the machine): a food station mail 10 provided with a receiving tray 12 on which are placed in one compact pile, homogeneous or not (depending on whether these items are the same dimension or not), the articles of mail to be printed; rollers 14 to convey the mail items through the machine along a transport path of mail items; a side jogging device 16 of these mailpieces against a wall referencing 18 whose upper part is inclined towards the rear; a selection station 20 to extract one by one from the bottom of the stack the mail items to be printed; and a printing station 22 for printing a postage stamp on the mail article thus selected.
- this machine can also incorporate collage and closure of mail items and possibly internal means of weighing mail items.
- the jogging device comprises a sliding slide 32 which slides externally on a fixed ball slide 34.
- the movable slide is mounted in an external protection strip 36 which may itself slide on this movable slide a very short predetermined distance and at the end end of which is articulated a jogging flap 30.
- an automatic jogging device formed of a brake friction shoe 38 and a compression spring 40, one end of which is connected to the movable slide 32 and the other end to the outer strip 36.
- the friction pad 38 is fixed on the fixed slideway 34 between the movable slide and the latter and it is dimensioned to apply a higher friction force to the effort obtained by the compression of the spring, so as to maintain automatic in the jogging position chosen by the operator based the width of the stack of envelopes.
- the spring 40 is compressed by the operator when it pushes against the stack of envelopes the shutter of jogging mounted at the end of the headband and therefore also moves the movable slide which is secured to it along the fixed slide.
- the spring relaxes to return to its initial free state with a determined decline of a few millimeters, for example 4 mm, bringing the headband behind a fixed distance corresponding to the length compressed (compression height) of the spring, the movable slide being as for it maintained in position by the braking pad.
- a determined decline of a few millimeters for example 4 mm
- the jogging flap 30 can take two distinct positions: a resting position, or inactive, in which the flap must be able to both fold over the transport path of the envelopes to a height greater than the maximum thickness of an envelope, approximately 20 mm, and pass documents in very large format (greater than the width receiving tray (approx. 200 mm) and an active position in which this flap is folded down on this working path, the lower end 30A flap descending from this maximum height to a height minimum sufficient to retain thin envelopes, typically about 2 mm.
- the jogging flap 30 is articulated both around an axis vertical 42 which allows its pivoting 90 ° of the inactive position in the extension of the strip 36 to the conventional active position parallel to the reference wall 18, but also on a horizontal axis 44 which allows this descent of the shutter during its rotation under the action of a elastic element 46.
- a tension spring which makes it possible to pull the flap down is fixed between a first pin 48 secured to this flap and a second stud 50 integral with a support piece 52, one end of which is mounted on the horizontal axis 44 and the other end can slide in a groove 30B of the shutter. Opening the shutter to its active position, by pivoting about the vertical axis 42, will also cause its rotation around the horizontal axis 44 under the pull of the spring 46 until its lower end 30A comes to rest on the receiving plate 12.
- the shutter causes a shaft 54 which is attached to it a locking piece 56 which will fit into a corresponding hole 36B of the strip locking the flap in the jogging position (see FIG. 7).
- the operator To return to the inactive position, the operator must first lift the flap by pivoting about the horizontal axis 44 before folding it on the flan of the band by pivoting about its vertical axis 42.
- FIGS. are external views of the jogging device respectively in the active jogging position (flap 90 ° parallel to the fold guide 18) and in the inactive position of passage of large items (shutter as an extension of the banner).
- FIGS. are external views of the jogging device respectively in the active jogging position (flap 90 ° parallel to the fold guide 18) and in the inactive position of passage of large items (shutter as an extension of the banner).
- This one comprises a part 58 articulated on an axis 60 fixed on the support part 52 and provided with an oblong groove 62 which cooperates with a pin 64 of the flap of jogging 30.
- the pin 64 of this flap descends in the oblong groove 62 by driving the articulated piece 58 by pivoting, which has the effect of ejecting below the flap a heel 66 of this part forming the secondary jogging element proper, in order to partially fill the empty space above and thus ensure perfect guidance envelopes on the means of selection.
