- the security material is applied to a part of the fibers forming the support, for example in the paper constituting a bank note by providing during the manufacture of the paper a proportion of plastic fibers containing the safety material and which are mixed with cellulosic fibers. Provision may also be made to cover fibers with the security material and, if necessary, to cover the security material with a varnish. It will be noted in this connection that the mere presence of fibers absorbing infrared rays and even simply distributed randomly in the paper constitutes in itself a sign of security without it being necessary for these fibers to assume a particular form.
