More precisely, it relates to a fixing system for a biomedical electrode comprising elastic snap-on fixing means.
Most often, the electrode consists of a flexible element of planar shape comprising an adhesive face, intended to ensure the fixing of the electrode to the skin of a person, and a face provided with a male conducting element. Each electrode is associated with a cable provided at one of its ends with a female element intended to receive the aforementioned male element.
The present invention aims to improve the connection between the male element and the female element, this in particular in order to obtain better mechanical strength, better conduction between the electrode and the cable as well as to facilitate the positioning of the element. female on the male element during their fixing.
It relates to an assembly comprising a biomedical electrode, a cable and elastic snap fastening means intended for fixing said electrode to said cable, said fastening means comprising a male element and a female element, characterized in that the male element has an orifice and the female element has a protuberance, the latter being shaped to be housed in said orifice when the two elements are fixed.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the male element is disposed on the electrode while the female element is located on one end of the cable. According to a variant, the fixing system is identical to those of the state of the art described above. It differs, however, in that the male element has an orifice on its upper face and in that the female element has in its cavity a protuberance intended to be housed in the orifice of the male element once the two elements are attached to each other.
In order to facilitate the fixing of the two elements, but also in order to keep them in place once fixed, a fixing system is preferably chosen, characterized in that the male element comprises a first portion of substantially frustoconical shape, located on the side of the female element, disposed on a second portion of substantially frustoconical shape, inverted relative to the first portion. With respect to the main vertical axis of the male element, the angle formed by the side wall of the first portion is less than the angle formed by the side wall of the second portion.
According to a variant of the invention, the angle formed by the side wall of the first portion is between 5 ° and 15 ° and that the angle formed by the side wall of the second portion is between 30 ° and 50 ° .
Une configuration particulièrement avantageuse est obtenue lorsque l'angle formé par la paroi latérale de la première portion est sensiblement égal à 8° et lorsque l'angle formé par la paroi latérale de la deuxième portion est sensiblement égal à 40°.A particularly advantageous configuration is obtained when the angle formed by the side wall of the first portion is substantially equal to 8 ° and when the angle formed by the side wall of the second portion is substantially equal to 40 °.
The invention also relates to an electrode as described above as well as a cable provided with a female plug as described above.
Un mode de réalisation de l'invention est décrit de manière détaillée ci-après aux moyen des figures suivantes :An embodiment of the invention is described in detail below by means of the following figures:
Figure 1 illustrates an assembly comprising an electrode, a cable and fixing means.
Figure 2 shows a section of the male element and the female element separated from each other. Figure 3 shows a section of the male element and the female element fixed to each other.
As can be seen in Figure 1, a flexible electrode 1 of planar shape is provided on its upper face with a male element 3. The latter (see also Figure 2) consists mainly of a first part 6 of form frustoconical and a second part 7 also frustoconical in shape but inverted relative to the first part. An orifice 5 is arranged on the upper face of the male element.
L'élément femelle 4 comporte une cavité 8 destinée à entourer l'élément mâle 3.The female element 4 comprises a cavity 8 intended to surround the male element 3.
The interior of the cavity 8 comprises a stud 9, preferably constructed of a conductive material.
Une fois les deux éléments fixés (voir figure 3), le goujon 9 est en contact étroit avec les parois de l'orifice 5 de l'élément mâle 3.Once the two elements have been fixed (see FIG. 3), the stud 9 is in close contact with the walls of the orifice 5 of the male element 3.
As can be seen in FIG. 2, the angle a defined between the vertical and the side wall of the upper portion 6 of the male element 3 is less than the angle β defined between the vertical and the side wall of the lower portion of the male element 3.
It has been found that an angle a substantially equal to 8 ° and an angle β substantially equal to 40 ° constituted a good compromise for simultaneously ensuring easy fixing and an effective retaining force.
It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to a particular form of electrode. Similarly, the choice of materials and the geometry of the different elements is not limited to what has been described in the example discussed above. The invention is also not limited to a particular field of use. Preferably, it targets the field of muscle electrostimulation but it can also find an application elsewhere, for example for the establishment of an electrocardiogram.
