Abstract

The yarn enters and leaves a pressure chamber (5) through closely fitting passages formed by grooved yarn guides (15, 16) that are pressed against each other by springs or magnets. The passage size is adjusted according to yarn thickness to keep friction low. Within the pressurized zone are forwarding rollers (10, 11) so that treatment by the steam or gas jet (7) takes place under low tension. An independent claim is also included for the corresponding equipment, which provides a seal but allows thick places in the yarn to pass unhindered. It includes devices for threading up with an ejector (9), e.g. spring-loaded cones (18) are actuated by pneumatic pistons (17) to separate the guides (15, 16). An alternative design that uses a single grooved guide block pressed against a stationary wall is also shown.
