Description

HOLZHANTEL WOOD WEIGHT
The invention relates to a dumbbell according to the preamble of claim 1.
In practice, dumbbells of this type are known as sports equipment for exercising or building muscle. A distinction is usually made between dumbbells and barbells. Dumbbells generally consist of metal, which in some cases is covered with plastic. Dumbbells according to the prior art usually consist of a handle and metal weights, which are either firmly connected to the handle or are attached to the handle in an exchangeable and detachable manner. Detachable weights usually consist of metal disks with a central hole for carrying out the ends of the handle. Barbells have a similar structure, only the barbell is much longer than the handle of a dumbbell and is gripped with both hands. If the weights are detachable and replaceable, they must be fixed to the handle or the barbell to prevent the weights from sliding off and possible injuries. In practice, the weight lock often consists of a metal ring, in the radial circumference of which a screw hole with a screw is made. The metal ring is pushed over the end of the barbell or handle and holds the weight plate against a stop. By screwing in the screw, the screw base is pressed against the surface of the handle and fixes the metal ring and thus the weights against slipping. The disadvantage of this is that there is no visible control as to whether the metal ring is seated firmly enough on the barbell bar in order to prevent the weight plates from slipping off the barbell bar, particularly in the case of heavy weights. The known dumbbell materials have further disadvantages. The use of metal or plastic coatings can cause problems for allergy sufferers. When using metal without a plastic coating, there is also an increased risk of injury for the athlete and an increased strain on the floor of the sports facility or the training equipment that comes into contact with the dumbbells.
The invention has for its object to provide a dumbbell that is safe to use and largely eliminates the disadvantages of the prior art. This object is achieved with the characterizing features of claim 1. Advantageous further developments are the subject of the dependent claims. According to the invention, the dumbbell consists of a dumbbell bar and metal weights attached to the ends thereof, the surfaces of the bar and / or weights consisting of wood or a wood composite material such as MDF. MDF is a wood-based material in which wood fibers are mixed with glue and pressed, which ensures that the material is dimensionally stable. In the following, the addition that MDF is also suitable as a material is dispensed with. When talking about wood, the equivalent alternative of wood-based material MDF should always be meant. The weights are preferably detachably and interchangeably attached to the barbell, but it is also entirely possible to firmly connect them to the barbell without this contradicting the basic idea of the invention. The barbell bar can be designed as a short or barbell bar and is preferably a solid wood bar made of solid wood, MDF or a comparable wood composite material. According to the invention, the weights have a core made of metal, preferably iron. This core is preferably completely enclosed by a wooden casing. In a preferred embodiment, the casing consists of two wooden disks, which have a recess or shape on one side to accommodate the metal core. The disks function like shells and the depressions or recesses should be so deep that the metal core can be completely enclosed by the two disks or shells. The discs and the metal core are provided with sufficiently large holes to accommodate the ends of the barbell. The peripheral edge at which the two panes or shells touch is preferably glued or sealed.
In a particularly preferred embodiment, the two wooden disks on the side of the depression have circular projections around their central bore, which engage in the bore of the metal core. In this way, the metal core is fixed within the envelope formed by the two disks, and the insertion of the barbell into the bores is simplified. It also prevents the metal core from damaging the surface of the barbell.
In an advantageous development, the barbell bar has external threads at its ends for fixing the weights placed on it. Fixation can be done using a wooden nut, which is screwed onto the thread after placing the weights and holds the weights against a stop provided on the barbell. The nut preferably has the shape of an ellipse in order to facilitate screwing on by hand, but other shapes are also conceivable which offer the user an advantageous lever for screwing the nut on and off.
In an alternative embodiment, only one of the two wooden disks has a depression for receiving the metal core, and the other disk is essentially flat and lies on the first wooden disk so that the depression is covered. The edges of the wooden disks can be provided with corresponding shoulders in order to simplify the centering of the two wooden disks.
Im folgenden wird die Erfindung anhand der beigefügten Zeichnungen näher erläutert, wobeiIn the following the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein
Figur 1 drei Ausfuhrungsformen von Hantelstangen zeigt,FIG. 1 shows three embodiments of barbell bars,
Figur 2 eine schematische Darstellung der Zusammenfügung von Hantelstange undFigure 2 is a schematic representation of the assembly of barbell and
Gewicht ist, undWeight is, and
Figure 3 shows the structure of a weight in a schematic representation.
In Figure 1, two dumbbell bars 10, 12 and a barbell bar 14 made of wood are shown. The barbell bars have external threads 16 at their ends. At the transition from the external thread to the handle bar there are shoulders 18 which serve as stops for the weights. The handle surfaces on the barbell bars 12 and 14 are smooth and curved on the barbell bar 10 to provide a better grip. Alternatively, curved handle surfaces are also conceivable for the barbell bar 14, or other patterns or shapes which increase the grip of the barbell bars.
As illustrated in Figure 2, the weights are pushed onto the areas of the barbell with an external thread. Then the weights are tightened with screw nuts (not formed) made of wood. The screw nuts are particularly advantageously elliptical and can therefore be screwed on and off more easily by hand.
The weight disks or their components shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 are essentially round. The radial lines emanating from the centers only serve for better spatial representation in the drawings and in particular should not imply that the individual components of the weights are composed of segment-shaped elements, although this can of course be a possible embodiment within the scope of the invention.
The weight plates are round and three-part. They essentially consist of two round wooden disks 20, 22 and a round metal disk 24 which, when assembled, is enclosed by the two wooden disks 20, 22. The wooden disks have a round recess 26 on each side for receiving the metal disk 24. The depth of this depression is approximately half the thickness of the metal disk 24, so that the metal disk is completely absorbed by the two depressions in the wooden disks in the assembled state and the outer edges of the wooden disks abut one another. The round wooden disks 20, 22 and the metal disk 24 have a bore 28, 32 in their center for the passage of a dumbbell end. On the side of the recess 26, the bores 28 of the wooden disks 20, 22 have an annular projection 30 which extends around the edge of the borehole. The two disks 20, 22 are preferably identical, but alternatively the annular projection 30 can be dispensed with in one of the two disks. The metal disc 24 has a bore 32 in its center, the circumference of which corresponds approximately to the outer circumference of the annular projection 30, so that this projection 30 engages in the assembled state in the bore 32 of the metal disc and centers it within the recesses 26.
The invention is not limited to the above exemplary embodiment, in particular the wood sheathing of the metal disk can also be done in another way, e.g. only one of the wooden disks has a recess for receiving the metal disc, and serves as a shell, so to speak, and the other wooden disc is flat and rests on the shell formed by the recess like a lid.
