Abstract

The nozzle has brushes (55-57) placed in respective housings (65-67). An air passage from an upper part of the nozzle is driven into ground when the brushes are in re-entry position. A soleplate (11) has sucking channels with front openings in vertical edges of the soleplate. The passage permits to create aeraulic blades in channel edges from where dust is lifted and carried into the nozzle.

Description

The present invention relates to a dust suction nozzle, and more particularly to an improvement of the waste collection efficiency.

Vacuum suckers are waste collection devices that contaminate the surface to be cleaned. They are therefore the object of many improvements aimed in particular to improve such collection.

Many suction cups having retractable brushes have already been proposed in the past, for example in the FR 2 313 004 where the brushes are located along the single suction channel and can protrude through a helical ramp. The mechanism of movement of the brushes is independent of the suction circuit.

It is also known from the document GB 1 119 876 , a suction nozzle equipped with brushes and having air inlets at the nozzle cap, these air inlets being effective only when the brushes are retracted. For this purpose, the brushes output mechanism comprises a pivoting lever which drives, in its rotation, valves that make it possible or not to perform the air-flow connection between the air inlets at the cap and the tubing connecting the nozzle to the body. of the vacuum cleaner. Such an air inlet automatically creates an air leak at the nozzle cap, thus locally reducing the suction power at the nozzle, facilitating its movement.

The present invention aims to improve the principle which has just been exposed by presenting an improved performance nozzle for a plurality of floors.

According to the invention, the suction nozzle open to the surface to be cleaned by at least one suction channel formed in the sole of the nozzle, said nozzle comprising at least one retractable brush, arranged in a housing and slidably mounted through of an obviously realized in the sole, said brush being able to occupy two positions: an extended position where it is prominent relative to the sole of the nozzle and a retracted position where it is slightly set back from said sole, characterized in that, in the extended position, the housing of the brush makes an airtight contact with the sole, while in the retracted position, at least one air passage is provided between the recess of the sole and the upper part of the nozzle, said upper part having an opening inlet air, to create a flow of air entering the nozzle at this point and opening into the sole at the recess when the brush is in the retracted position.

Indeed, after many tests in the workshop, it has been interesting to change somewhat the flow into the nozzle according to the position of the brush or not.

The two positions of the brush make it possible to obtain different contact surfaces depending on the soils to be treated and / or the actions envisaged. It is indeed interesting to occasionally have brush (s) to solicit the surface of the soil to be treated, for example carpet, to extract the waste attached to the fibers.

In this context, it may be advantageous to modify the air flows entering the nozzle according to the position of the brush or brushes. Indeed, when the brushes are out, the air is sucked essentially through the brushes. When the latter are retracted, the squeegee rests by the sole on the ground and an outside air inlet from the upper part of the nozzle is injected into the ground through the passage areas of the brushes in the sole.

Such an air intake at this level facilitates in particular the displacement of the nozzle on the ground, but also makes it possible to create airfoils at defined locations, and in particular the edges of the channels where the brushes are generally located, where a majority of the dust is raised and dragged into the squeegee, thus contributing to more efficient waste collection.

Advantageously, the upper portion of the nozzle is constituted by a cover, the air inlet opening is then made at said cover.

In a particular embodiment of the invention, the cover has a perforated portion on which is reported a viewing window made of a transparent material. A possible construction is then to make the opening at the junction between the viewing window and the openwork portion of the cover by a space between these parts, thus avoiding creating a particular opening at the hood, which, by elsewhere, could have been misunderstood by the user.

Other configurations are conceivable for making an opening at the hood. In particular, it is possible to make an opening at the outlet control of the brushes, or at the junction of the nozzle with the connecting tube. It is also possible to degrade the tightness of the hood on the sole to allow sufficient clearance between the hood and the sole for an air intake at this level.

According to one or other of these configurations, an improvement consists in producing a baffle at the opening, in order to reduce the transmission of the noise towards the outside through this opening.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the nozzle is of substantially triangular shape having in particular two side edges forming the tip of the nozzle, said nozzle having two channels arranged along the two side edges forming the tip of the nozzle, and that each suction channel is bordered by front brushes and rear brushes slidable in recesses in the sole, said brushes being located on either side of the channel extending substantially parallel to the latter.

Bordering each suction channel with brushes, it is possible to improve the suction efficiency at each of the channels since the latter are somehow closed by said brushes. Moreover, the two operations of brushing the soil to be treated immediately followed by a suction will occur regardless of the direction of movement of the nozzle, either forward or backward.

Advantageously, in order to facilitate the handling of the brushes, the two positions of the brush or brushes are controlled by a mechanism actuated by a pedal.

According to a preferred embodiment, the mechanism comprises:
  • two rockers carrying the brushes and movable vertically relative to the sole against the restoring force of two springs,
  • two carriages movable horizontally and capable of interacting each with one of the rockers via an inclined cam surface during this horizontal movement,
  • a connecting rod connecting the control pedal to the two carriages.

The transformation of the horizontal movement of the carriages in vertical movement of the rockers carrying the brushes by means of an inclined cam surface makes it possible, by this simple device, to give the nozzle a compact appearance by the small size of the device.

According to this arrangement, the pedal is advantageously mounted in rotation on the soleplate of the nozzle, the rod being linked, on the one hand to the pedal by a portion parallel to the axis of rotation of the pedal, and on the other hand to the carriages by portions substantially perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the pedal, so that such a rotation of the pedal causes a horizontal movement of the carriages.

Advantageously, the rockers and trolleys are symmetrical with respect to a median vertical plane to the nozzle, which allows to evenly distribute the forces on each sub-assembly formed by a carriage, a rocker, a front brush and a rear brush. This symmetry ensures uniform movement of the different brushes.

According to a preferred embodiment, the brushes at the rear of the channels meet at the junction of the two side channels forming an inverted V.

The presence of this rear brush extending sinuating from one edge to the other of the nozzle allows, when the brushes are out, a good stability of the nozzle on the floor to be treated without the risk of tilting forward or towards the back the nozzle during his travels. The nozzle remains well flat on the floor to clean.

According to this latter configuration, each rocker comprises the points of support of one of the front brushes and a portion of the support points of the rear brush.

Advantageously, the front edge of the nozzle has at least one front orifice intended to ensure suction in a direction substantially parallel to the surface to be cleaned, said front suction orifice being connected to one of the suction channels.

One of the advantages of this structure is not only to physically have the nozzle in the corners of the parts to be cleaned, but also to suck really at the tip and even slightly ahead of this tip, through the opening frontal thus arranged. Such ease of use primarily avoids the use of small cleaning accessories that are available instead of the nozzle to access narrow places such as nooks and crannies.

Moreover, it has proved very practical and easy to direct the tip towards the objects to pick up or corners to clean, since this tip is in the axis of the tube, so in the axis of the thrust when the nozzle is moved. The interest is then to be able to target any object in free field and not only in the corners.

The present invention relates to a vacuum nozzle 1. Such. Squeegee has a connection tube 2 connecting to a vacuum cleaner body, not shown, including a motor-fan capable of creating an air intake flow.

The connecting tube 2 opens at the sole 11 of the nozzle in contact with the soil 4 to be cleaned, via connecting conduits 3. These conduits open on the suction channels. These channels are generally configured according to the shape of the nozzle, in order to optimize the suction efficiency. In the example presented where the nozzle is shaped triangular, the suction channels, as shown by the dashed lines 10, extend in part along the two edges 5, 6 forming the tip of the nozzle, as well as in said tip of the nozzle after being joined in the part central of the nozzle.

Advantageously, the angular zone forming the tip of the nozzle comprises a front orifice 7 intended to provide suction in a direction substantially parallel to the surface to be cleaned.

Moreover, in the embodiment shown, the nozzle has retractable brushes actuated by a pedal 8 pivoting. This pedal 8 is accessible at the hood 12 of the nozzle. The latter, in this embodiment, has essentially only aesthetic functions and environmental protection.

Indeed, the suction channels are closed on the one hand by an internal structure made in part during the manufacture by molding of the sole, such as the parts of the suction channels extending along the edges and opening through the opening 7, but also by an upper part 14 which, according to the embodiment, is a viewing area made by making transparent the triangular piece attached to the sole.

Such a feature allows to view the waste 16 on the surface being cleaned. Depending on the shape of the nozzle and the suction channel or channels, this viewing area may cover a larger field than that of the suction channel, in order to adjust the target of the waste to be extracted from the ground.

Le capot 12 présente alors une simple ouverture 15 en regard de la pièce 14, tel qu'il est visible figure 9.The cover 12 then has a simple opening 15 opposite the part 14, as it is visible figure 9 .

Advantageously, the viewing area has a magnifying effect, having a convex shape. Thus, the waste under the viewing area is magnified, improving the visualization of the surface to be cleaned.

The figure 2 presents the nozzle seen from below. So the sole 11 of The nozzle comprises several suction channels: a channel 19 substantially parallel to the edge 6 of the nozzle, a channel 20 substantially parallel to the edge 5 of the nozzle. These channels meet in the central region 21 of the nozzle. The channels 19 and 20 have front openings, that is to say in the vertical flanges of the sole, respectively 36 and 35, allowing a lateral suction substantially parallel to the surface to be cleaned.

The triangular shape is completed, at the rear of the nozzle, by a solid portion 40 having two locations 42 of means promoting the displacement of the nozzle, which may be either PTFE-type pads or wheels, such as visible wheels 43 to the figure 9 .

The nozzle also comprises a blade 23 extending in the region 21, from the edge 5 of the nozzle to the edge 6, thus defining a front channel 18 and a rear channel 22, the front channel 18 opening at the tip of the nozzle by the front opening 7. This blade 23 has a zone 24 where is disposed a pull-wire fabric as it is known per se.

This blade 23 connects the edge 5 to the edge 6 as a bridge, providing a space between the face opposite the zone 24 and the upper part 14. This blade is preferably parallel to the rear edge 9 of the nozzle.

A second zone 124 carrying a pull-out fabric may be provided on a border of the channel 22, symmetrically to the zone 24 carrying the pull-son.

The channels 19 and 20 each have scraping blades 46 and 45 extending respectively from the edge 6 and the edge 5 towards the other edge in the suction channel. According to the proposed example, these blades are fixed and issuing from the bottom plate of the nozzle, extending substantially parallel to the rear edge 9 over a distance close to half the width of the channel. Preferably, these blades are not or are not prominent relative to the bottom plate of the nozzle.

According to the invention, the nozzle comprises brushes 55, 56, 57, said brushes being retractable through the sole. The brush 55 is disposed between the suction channel 20 and the edge 5, while the brush 56 is disposed between the suction channel 19 and the edge 6. The channels 19 and 20 joining at the front of the nozzle forming an inverted V, the rear brush 57 follows this shape along the border defined by the two channels and their meeting. As shown figure 3 and 4 , the rear brush has in particular a notch 157 in the middle of the brush, that is to say in the bowl form of said brush, to facilitate the suction of waste that can be housed in this form of the brush at the moment the movement towards the back of the nozzle.

The Figures 3, 4 and 5 represent, in isolation, the brushes and the output control mechanism of said brushes. A remarkable fact of the device is, in addition to the arrangement of the pedal, its perfect symmetry with respect to a vertical median plane and perpendicular to the nozzle.

The pedal 8 comprises a lateral stud 81 intended for its connection with the sole of the nozzle, via a vertical piece 82, visible figure 9 and having a hole in which said stud is housed. The stud thus housed in the piece 82 constitutes a pivot axis of the pedal. The latter also has a hollow extension 83.

Furthermore, the pedal 8 is linked to a rigid rod 28 of motion transmission, this rod being fixed to the pedal in the extension of the axis of rotation of the pedal, ie in the extension of the pin 81, as it is clearly visible figure 4 . This rod comprises several elbows constituting a specific shape whose particularity is to remain flat by including a horizontal portion 280 which is the connecting portion with the pedal, and two substantially vertical portions 282. These are located at each end of the rod and are each connected with a carriage 85, 86. The vertical portion 282 located under the pedal 8 passes into the hollow portion of the extension 83 of the pedal which thus constitutes a guide of the rod and ensures the transmission of the force at the stem.

The rod 28 is also supported by two vertical supports 128 from the sole.

The carriages 85, 86 are two identical L-shaped pieces having a rather long horizontal portion directed forwardly of the nozzle and a shorter vertical portion directed downwardly. These carriages are secured between the sole of the squeegee and the hood so as to be able to move only horizontally, towards the front or towards the rear of the squeegee. Two arches 194, visible figure 10 , derived from the sole and through which are mounted the carriages 85, 86, in particular allow to prohibit any vertical movement of said carriages.

Each carriage 85, 86 has, at the front end of their horizontal portion, a beveled shape, respectively 185, 186. These beveled portions constitute cam surfaces that can interact with parts 125, 126 beveled identically in independent parts 75, 76 in correspondence called rockers, during the horizontal movement of said carriages. The beveled portions 125, 126 open at their upper part, on a substantially horizontal flat portion respectively 25, 26.

Thus each carriage 85, 86 is capable of interacting respectively with the rocker 75 and the rocker 76. The rockers are substantially flat parts which are mounted in the nozzle having a degree of freedom in a vertical direction, being maintained in their horizontal clearance essentially by the sole of the nozzle, for example using slide pins 192 from the sole and on which can slide the rockers through openings 175, 176 in correspondence of the pins 192. To minimize friction between the tippers and the sole, each piece or some of them may be provided with gaudrons or small vertical bulges to facilitate the vertical translation of the rockers.

Advantageously, the sole will also be equipped with gaudrons under each carriage for maintaining the carriages in the brushes output position in order to avoid the inadvertent triggering of the mechanism.

As it is visible figure 9 , a spring 165, 166 is mounted between each tipper 75, 76 and the sole of the nozzle.

Each rocker comprises housings 65, 66 for the brushes 55, 56, each brush being held at the housing, essentially by resilient clamps of the clip type 95, 96.

Moreover, with reference in particular to figure 10 , the sole has openings for passage of the brushes. Thus an opening 600 allows the vertical movement of the brush 56 to allow the latter to emerge from the sole. This opening is delimited by an advantageously crenellated contour 602 making it possible to form a sealing abutment of the housing 66 of the brushes on the soleplate when the brush is out.

A similar configuration is made for the brush 55 whose housing 65 bears against the contour 502 when the brush is released from the sole, as well as for the rear brush 57, the housing 67 is held for half by each rocker, to using clips 97, 98.

More particularly according to the invention, a contrario, when the brushes are in the retracted position, a space is provided at the passages 600 of brushes thus allowing aeraulic connection between the interior of the nozzle and the space under the sole. Furthermore, a ventilation link is also provided between the inside of the nozzle and the outside at the cover 12 of the nozzle.

The figure 13 which is a sectional view according to AA of the figure 12 , this air inlet 134 at the connection between the nozzle and the connecting tube 2. This air inlet is simply obtained by providing sufficient space at the opening 13 of the hood defined by the contour 130, between the connecting ducts 3 and the hood 12.

Advantageously, a substantially vertical wall 132 is disposed near the air inlet 134. This wall cooperates with a substantially vertical wall 195 for closing the suction channel, said wall coming from the sole, in order to create a baffle for incoming air as it is visible figure 13 . Such a chicane makes it possible to reduce the noise associated with the passage of the air.

In operation, starting from a position where the brushes are retracted, corresponding to the figures 6 and 8 the bevelled portions 125, 126 of the rockers and the bevelled portions 185, 186 of the carriages are substantially at the same level, side by side.

When the user wants to remove the brushes, he activates the pedal by pressing on the back of it. The pedal rotates clockwise in the figures, which causes rotation of the rod 28 in the same direction.

The substantially vertical portions 282 also pivot, causing a forward displacement of the carriages 85, 86 linked to the ends 282 of said rod. This advance of the carriages causes the cooperation of the bevelled parts of the carriages with those of the rockers. Given the impossibility of vertical movement of the carriages and the impossibility of horizontal movement of the rockers, the latter, under the forward movement of the carriages, undergo a vertical downward movement against the restoring force of the springs 165 , 166, the play of the slopes sliding the rockers 75, 76 under the carriages 85, 86, the latter bearing respectively on the plane portions 25, 26.

This vertical downward movement of the rockers makes it possible to remove the brushes from the plane defined by the lower part of the sole. In this position, the housings 65, 66 of the brushes 55, 56 support the edges 502, 602 of the sole, ensuring a good seal, thus preventing any air intake from the nozzle under the sole.

The brushes in the extended position delimit a predetermined height clearance between the ground and the sole defining the lower peripheral passage section of the air intake. The dust released by the brushes is removed by the horizontal air flows at the periphery of the nozzle and then vertical upwards in the channels.

When the user wishes to retract the brushes, by pivoting the pedal anti-clockwise, the ends 282 of the rod are brought back to the rear, causing the same movement of the carriages 85, 86. As soon as the beveled portions of the carriages and rockers are in correspondence, the restoring force of the springs, by its action on the rockers, accelerates the rise of the rockers and the return to the back of the carriages.

In this position, the nozzle rests by the sole on the floor to be treated and an air inlet opening under the nozzle is then created, the air entering the nozzle through the upper opening 132 formed at the joint and exiting under the sole by the openings 600 formed in the sole for the passage of the brushes. The baffle created by the walls 195 and 132 and visible on the path of the air represented by the bold arrow of the figure 13 , reduces the noise associated with this passage of air.

The air flow is then conducted to create aeraulic blades in strategic locations, namely along the channels where all the dust is raised. The air inlet under the sole of the nozzle makes it easier to move.

In particular, the air inlet can be made at the opening 80 for housing the pedal 8, or at the level of the viewing opening 15, ...

Par ailleurs, divers procédés et matériaux peuvent être utilisés afin de réduire le bruit du suceur, tels des cavités résonantes, de la mousse d'isolation phonique, des feutres,....Furthermore, various methods and materials can be used to reduce the noise of the nozzle, such as resonant cavities, sound insulation foam, felts, ....
