Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer magerlauffähigen Brennkraftmaschine mit einem in einem Abgastrakt der Brennkraftmaschine angeordneten NOx-Speicherkatalysator. Hierbei wird ein Zustand einer NOx-Speicherfähigkeit und einer O2-Speicherfähigkeit des NOx-Speicherkatalysators adaptiert und mit dem adaptierten Zustand auf der Basis eines Modells für den NOx-Speicherkatalysator in frischem Zustand ermittelt, wann die NOx-Speicherfähigkeit des NOx-Speicherkatalysators erschöpft ist und in diesem Fall eine Regeneration des NOx-Speicherkatalysators angefordert, wobei eine Reduktionsmittelmenge zur Umsetzung der im NOx-Speicherkatalysator gespeicherten NOx- und O2-Menge berechnet und auf der Basis der berechneten Reduktionsmittelmenge die Regeneration des NOx-Speicherkatalysators gesteuert durchgeführt wird.
