Definitions

  • the invention relates to a safety device for a motor vehicle to implement a safety function, such as may be required in an accident.
  • the safety device has at least one bearing part with at least one bore. Furthermore, there is at least one bolt which is inserted coaxially into this bore in order to connect the bearing part to a connecting part. The bolt can completely penetrate the bore or can only be partially inserted in it.
  • the safety device also contains means for removing a bearing element or the bolt, in particular a pedal bolt of the motor vehicle or for releasing the connecting part from the bearing part.
  • Safety devices of this type are used, inter alia, on the pedals in the footwell of passenger cells in motor vehicles in order to avoid the risk of injury due to impact accidents.
  • the risk of injury is due to the fact that in the event of a crash, the occupants are unable to absorb the acceleration forces that occur, so that, among other things, the lower extremities of the person sitting in the front area are thrown into the footwell.
  • the entire footwell can deform extremely in the aforementioned accident situation.
  • the resulting injuries are painful for those affected and can even lead to lifelong mutilation.
  • different solutions are known from the prior art. There are two main types of safety devices.
  • a safety device is known from patent specification DE 100 40 043, which prevents the pedal from entering the footwell by opening the pedal bearing point.
  • the safety device comprises a bearing block in which the pedals which can be pivoted about an axis are mounted on bolts which are fixed in the receptacles of the bearing block.
  • the bearing block has at least one expandable section, so that the external force applied in the event of an accident leads to a deformation of the front bulkhead and as a result expands or spreads the bearing block.
  • the expansion can take place by means of a wedge-shaped element which is driven between the legs of a bearing block.
  • the kinetic energy required for this is obtained from the movement of the motor vehicle parts that deform relative to one another in the event of an accident. This releases the bolts supporting the foot pedals, so that the pedals are released from their holders with the bolts and do not penetrate into the footwell.
  • the known safety device has the disadvantage that the pedal bearing point is only opened passively due to the deformation caused by an impact accident, and the safety device is therefore dependent on the type and strength of the accident and is therefore unreliable.
  • the known systems are isolated from other safety devices present in a motor vehicle - such as an airbag safety device - and therefore do not offer comprehensive protection.
  • the subject matter of the invention relates to a safety device for removing a bolt, in particular a pedal bolt in a motor vehicle, with at least one first bearing part which has at least one bore for a bolt connection to at least one connection part, and at least one bolt which is inserted coaxially into this bore, to connect the bearing part and the connecting part.
  • Means for removing the bolt or loosening the connecting part for realizing a safety function are provided, which are designed as a mechanism which is accommodated in a housing connected to the bearing part and is connected to the bolt in an axial extension to the bolt axis.
  • This solution has the advantage that, due to the active as well as the passive triggering of the fuse, the safety function of the device is independent of the type and strength of the deformation caused by an accident, without restricting the previous possibilities. Furthermore, the safety device can now be coupled with other active safety devices, for example with an airbag release or a belt tensioner, in order to offer more complete and comprehensive protection. In addition, the triggering is no longer dependent on the type of impact accident, but rather takes into account any type of accident that requires a safety function. Due to the compact design of the device according to the invention, there are no unnecessary risk of injury and restrictions due to excellent components.
  • the connecting part can preferably be a foot pedal located in a passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, wherein a U-shaped bearing block can serve as the bearing part, so that the assembly effort can be reduced in the case of two-sided mounting.
  • the bolt is advantageously constructed in two parts, so that instead of a large safety device arranged on one side of the bolt, two smaller safety devices can be installed, which are space-saving to install on both sides of the bolt and thus involve a low risk of injury.
  • the mechanism of the safety device can advantageously consist of a spring storage unit or a pyrotechnic unit or a combination of these units.
  • the mechanism can be triggered by a deformation or an active control as well as a combination of both by means of an actively or passively releasable fuse, which means that a significantly higher safety function can be implemented.
  • the spring-memory unit can continue to be used after it has been triggered by a simple tensioning process.
  • the spring storage unit represents an inexpensive solution for triggering the safety device.
  • Another measure improving the invention provides that in the case of a two-part bolt, the means for removing the bolt are attached to one side of the bolt end, since a space-saving, compact mechanism can be attached to the side of the bearing.
  • the two-part design also ensures that should one mechanism fail, the second mechanism will still trigger the safety function.
  • the actively releasable fuse is a fuse triggered by a sensor / actuator combination, since this enables an electrical coupling to existing safety devices such as, for example, to trigger an airbag in a motor vehicle.
  • the passively releasable fuse is preferably a lever which is connected on one side to the bearing pin in order to trigger the fuse when the bearing part is displaced, since the triggering which is dependent on the deformation of an accident can be adjusted very well via the lever arm.

  • the left half of the bolt 2a is pulled out either by an analog mechanism 8 lying mirror-symmetrically to the radial cross section of the bolt 2 or by a mechanism shown in principle in FIG. 2 and described in more detail below on the left side of the bearing part 4 '.
  • a pin 2 ' is connected on one side to a piston 9a and thus forms a piston-pin assembly 9.
  • the piston-pin assembly 9 receives a housing 6' which, among other things, ensures the guidance of the piston 9a and the Connection of a gas generator 10 allows.
  • the gas generator 10 When the safety function (not shown) is triggered, the gas generator 10 generates a positive pressure in a small cavity between the piston 9a and the pin 2 'within the housing 6', which moves the piston 9a away from the bearing part 4 'and thus the pin 2' from the bearing part 4 'away.
