Abstract

The welding head (1) for a banding machine has a band fixing facility for fixing of the overlapping band ends, a welding device for the fusing of the band sections, and a pressure unit for pressing the fused band sections against a pressure piece. The band fixing facility is constructed as two separate, pivotably mounted clamping jaws (4,5) movably coupled to the longitudinally movable pressure unit (9) in such a way that they are movable into and out of the strapping band (2) depending upon the movement of the pressure unit. An independent claim is included for banding machine including a welding head.

Description

The invention relates to a welding head for a Bandumreifungsmaschine comprising belt fixing means for fixing the to be welded, overlapping band ends, a welding device for melting the band sections to be welded, and a pressing device for pressing the molten band sections against a pressure piece.

A strapping machine is used to strapping a packaged goods, such as a catalog or magazine stack, with a strapping, usually a stable plastic band. To fix this in the tensioned around the packaged goods a welding head is provided, which makes it possible, the two overlapping tape ends of a suitable Einschießvorrichtung first in a surrounding the packaged goods frame, which is then opened and the band is firmly clamped, supplied strapping connect. This happens because the tape ends are locally melted in the overlapping area by means of a welding device and pressed firmly against a pressure piece by means of a pressing device, so that the compound results in the molten area. The operation of a strapping machine is well known, a closer inspection is not required.

A welding head of the type mentioned above is known for example from DE 199 48 880 A 1. It has two clamping jaws and a pressing device arranged between them. The two jaws such as the pressing device are longitudinally movable, for which purpose separate guide tracks are provided on the welding head housing, which correspond in cross-section to that of the clamping jaws. Guideways and jaws must be worked very precisely for a precise longitudinal guidance. In order to ensure a smooth and low-friction running of the jaws in the guideways, laterally flat lubricant pockets are also formed in the jaws and the pressing device. As can be seen, the design effort for the longitudinal guides of the longitudinally movable parts is very large, which also adversely affects the overall cost of the welding head. Another disadvantage is the permanent assurance a continuous lubrication to ensure the proper running of the longitudinally movable parts. The open guideways continue to tend to fouling, which is also disadvantageous.

In US-A-3,269,300 a strapping machine with a welding head according to the preamble of claim 1 is described in which a central shaft is provided on which different cams are provided. About a cam with a recess a roller is operated on an arm. The arm is coupled via a spring with a jaw. Now rotates the shaft, the role is pushed upwards due to the shape of the cam. About a the arm with the described part coupling spring, which is compressed during this movement, the jaw is pressed against the tape. Similarly, the movement coupling of the second clamping member is carried out. Also for pressing the band ends to be welded against the heating plate such a cam control is provided. On the central shaft is provided a further cam disc on which runs a roller connected to a lever which is raised when the heating plate is between the band ends and rotates the central shaft. On the lever another lever is arranged with an upper end which presses against the heating plate. Here, therefore, a central camshaft control is provided, so therefore an indirect motion coupling, which is designed very expensive.

The invention is based on the problem of specifying a welding head, which is improved in terms of design and function compared.

To solve this problem is provided according to the invention in a welding head of the type mentioned that the belt fixing means are formed as two separate, pivotally mounted jaws, wherein the jaws are so motion coupled with the longitudinally movable pressing such that they depend on the movement of the pressing in and be brought out of engagement with the strapping, wherein on the pressing device or the jaws of the motion control serving guide surfaces are provided, along which slides the clamping jaws or the pressing device.

In the welding head according to the invention, the two clamping jaws serving to fix the band ends are each rotatably mounted via a simple pivot bearing. Only the pressing device is mounted longitudinally movable. Instead of previously three separate longitudinal guides only one is provided in the welding head according to the invention, while the two jaws are supported while avoiding all the disadvantages described above in a simple pivot point. Furthermore, the jaws according to the invention with the pressing device are preferably directly coupled motion, d. h., Their movement between the respective end positions is controlled solely by the movement of the pressing device. This results in an overall simpler, more cost-effective and in his function safely and accurately working mechanism that eliminates all the disadvantages described in the prior art.

It is expedient in terms of a simple motion coupling when the jaws are arranged on both sides of the pressing device and coupled to the pressing device such that they pivot in opposite directions when the pressing device moves. The movement coupling can be such that they can be brought into engagement with the strapping band at a later time, which is expedient in that immediately after the strapping band has been inserted, the fixing of the front, leading end of the band is required, which can be accomplished via the one clamping jaw , Subsequently, after the guide frame has opened, the strapping band must be clamped tightly around the packaged goods, which can be done, for example, with a tensioning system, as described in the subsequently published German patent application 102 32 580.4 using a lever clamp (to which reference is hereby expressly made ), with which the tape is withdrawn and tensioned, after which must first follow the fixation of the tape with the second jaw.

For easy movement coupling are expediently on the jaws or the pressing of the motion control serving guide surfaces along which the pressing device or the clamping jaws slides. The guide surfaces are expediently formed as inclined surfaces on which the respective part engages, wherein on the formation of these guide surfaces of course, the "timing" of the separate jaw movement can be defined.

The jaws are advantageous against a restoring force in or out of engagement with strapping brought, d. h., During their movement, a restoring force automatically builds up, which is reduced again in the course of the countermovement. The jaws are expediently coupled in terms of movement via a spring, in particular a spiral spring, wherein the spring exerts a restoring force on it in the position released from the strapping band. This means that the jaws are automatically urged by the spring in its engaged position on the strap when the pressing device is moved accordingly, while they are pressed apart during the counter-movement and thereby the spring is tensioned. Of course, it is also conceivable to store each jaw via a separate spring against a restoring force or to make the storage such that the restoring force is built upon movement into the engaged position, including the movement coupling between the pressing device and jaws is to train accordingly.

A particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the clamping sections of the clamping jaws that engage around the strapping band are formed on the upper jaw sections facing the central pressing device and laterally offset from the pivot axis. This causes the jaws, which abut, for example, only on the inner upper jaw edge on the tape, during the withdrawal of the band (relative to the first adjacent jaws) or in tensioned band (then for the second jaw) by the either active or (With strained band) due to the tight tension inherent tendency to shorten the band by this band movement wedge even more strongly with the band, thus the clamping effect is still increased. So it turns on an automatic self-clamping.

As described, the strapping is injected in a first step. For this purpose, from a tape storage, z. As a tape storage, as described in the aforementioned patent application 102 32 580.4, the strapping withdrawn and injected into a surrounding the packaged tape guide frame. The front end of the strapping band is caught in the welding head, after which the welding process can take place. In order to guide the strapping band safely through the welding head or optionally also to catch it, a tape guiding element is provided, which as a rule is also mounted longitudinally displaceable in known welding heads. It is therefore described in the prior art, a further longitudinal guide with the known disadvantages. To remedy this situation, provides a particularly advantageous development of the inventive idea that a pivotally mounted tape guide element is provided, which is so directly or indirectly coupled in motion with the pressing that it can be brought in and out of the belt conveyor depending on the movement of the pressing is. The tape guide element is therefore also pivotally mounted, according to the invention is dispensed with the disadvantageous longitudinal guide here. Furthermore, its movement is also dependent on the Anpresseinrichtung, both are coupled in accordance with movement. In this case, the movement coupling can be such that the tape guide element is moved from the Bandführungsweg only after the fixation of the tape ends by the jaws, ie, also here by the motion coupling with the pressing device, the timing of the movement of the tape guide element realized. Depending on the embodiment, an indirect movement coupling, in which therefore the tape guide element is coupled for movement with the pressing device via an intermediate element, as well as a direct movement coupling between the two parts is conceivable. In the case of a direct movement coupling, a guide surface serving to control movement of the tape guide element is expediently provided on the pressing device or the tape guide element along which the tape guide element or the pressing device slides - depending on the configuration. Conveniently, this is provided on one of the two parts along the guide surface sliding roller or roller or the like.

In addition to the tape guide element in known welding heads of the prior art usually also the welding device is mounted longitudinally displaceable, d. h., Also this part is disadvantageous in terms of its movement storage. In order to achieve an improvement in this respect, can be provided according to a particularly advantageous invention training to pivot the welding device between a non-working position and the band sections melting working position, wherein the welding device is so motion-coupled directly or indirectly with the pressing device that the movement in dependence the movement of the pressing device takes place. Advantageously, in the welding head according to the invention, therefore, this disadvantageous longitudinal guide is also resolved in favor of a simple pivot bearing, with the motion sequence also being controlled by means of a corresponding movement coupling with the pressing device. Again, in turn, different coupling mechanisms may be provided. In the case of a direct coupling of movement, a guide surface serving to control the movement of the welding device is expediently provided on the pressing device or the welding device, along which the welding device or the pressing device slides, whereby this can also be done expediently by using a roller or roller or the like. Thus, it is possible to couple both the welding device and the previously described tape guide element directly to the pressing device, but equally can also be implemented with respect to both an indirect coupling.

An expedient embodiment of a movement coupling provides for the welding device to be coupled indirectly to the pressing device, specifically in that the welding device is releasably coupled to the strap guiding element in such a way that it is moved out of the strap guiding path into the working position during a movement of the strap guiding element. In this embodiment of the invention, the welding device is coupled directly to the tape guide element, which is expediently in turn coupled directly to the pressing device. Due to the releasable coupling of the welding device with the tape guide element is the movement of at least partially (until the release of the coupling) due to the movement of the tape guide element.

Appropriately, for this purpose, the tape guide element and the welding device during the common movement about a common pivot point in the same direction are pivotable. Thus, only one axis of rotation is provided, the embodiment being such that the tape guide element is brought out of the tape guide path and at the same time the welding device is moved into the tape guide path.

Conveniently, the movement coupling of the tape guide element and the welding device is automatically achieved upon reaching the working position of the welding device, which is achieved according to an advantageous embodiment of the invention using a magnetic coupling of the two parts. For this purpose, for example, on one or both parts corresponding holding magnets are provided which adhere to each other during the coupling, are separated for releasing and are connected to each other again in a subsequent welding step.

It is expedient to provide a welding device and / or the tape guide element in the non-working position pulling or urging spring for generating the restoring force.

As described above, the fused tape ends are pressed against a pressure piece for connecting. In order to then be able to remove the strapped packaged goods from the strapping device, it is necessary for the strapping band to be released from the pressing piece in the area of the weld, for which purpose it is also longitudinally movably supported in known strapping machines and thus has all the disadvantages described. To remedy this situation also provides a very convenient development to pivotally mount the pressure piece and motion coupled with the pressing device such that its dependence of the movement of the pressing device between a working position in which the tape ends by the pressing device on the other hand can be pressed, and a non-working position, in which the welded strap is released, is movable. Appropriately, a guide surface is also provided here on the pressing device or the pressure piece, along which the pressure piece or the pressing device for controlling movement, optionally using a roller or roller or the like, slides. Is thus also the pressure piece pivotally mounted, so in the welding head according to the invention, in the ideal case, only a single longitudinal guide, namely that of the pressing device realized while all other parts are movably mounted on simple pivot bearings. The sole element determining the movement is advantageously the pressing device, with which all pivotable parts are directly or indirectly coupled with movement. It is thus a simply constructed and in its entirety completely redesigned welding head specified, which eliminates the disadvantages of the prior art.

As described, the movement coupling of the pressure piece with the pressing device likewise takes place via a suitable guide surface, that is to say, both are coupled in a motion-coupled manner directly to one another. In order to be able to initiate the swiveling movement of the print head in a simple manner, an advantageous embodiment of the invention continues to move the pressing device after the molten band ends have been pressed together in the contact pressure direction, during which movement the pressure element counterposed to the guide surface is released and pivots away. The pressing device is so slightly suppressed based on the actual press position, which causes the pressure piece is released from its counter bearing and can swing away. It is expediently provided on the pressing device an overhead pressing portion which engages the band ends, and which is connected via at least one spring element to the base body of the pressing device, which spring element is compressed during the further movement of the pressing device.

In addition to the welding head, the invention further relates to a band strapping machine comprising a welding head of the type described.

The figures each show a front view and the associated side view, wherein for reasons of clarity, some parts are shown only in one or the other representation.

Figures 1 a and 1b show the welding head 1 according to the invention in its initial position after the strapping 2 has been shot and is still in a not shown in detail, also not shown in detail packaged surrounding frame out. The welding head 1 according to the invention has a base plate 3, on which a right clamping jaw 4 and a left clamping jaw 5 are each pivotally mounted about a pivot bearing 6, 7. At their lower end, both are coupled together by a spring 8. Between the two jaws 4, 5 is located on a longitudinal guide not shown longitudinally movable pressing device 9, with the two jaws 4, 5 is directly coupled for movement. For this purpose, two guide surfaces 10 on both sides are provided on the pressing device-see, for example, FIG. 5a-which interact with suitable sections provided on the respective clamping jaws 4, 5. In the position shown in Fig. 1a, the pressing device 9 is in the lowered position in which it the jaws 4, 5 attacks and this urges in the not engaging the strap 2 position to the outside, the spring 8 is stretched.

Fig. 5b) schwenkgelagert. Shown is also a tape guide member 11 having an inclined guide channel 12 into which the tape is shot in Fig. 1a coming from the right. The tape guide member 11 is pivotally mounted about the pivot axis 13 (see also, e.g., Fig. 5b). It can be pivoted between the working position shown in Figures 1a and 1b and the example shown in Figures 5a and 5b swung out, so not located in Bandführungsweg position. For this purpose, the tape guide element 11 is also directly coupled to the movement with the pressing device 9, for which purpose a roller 14 is provided on the tape guide element 11, which engages on the back of the pressing device 9. The base plate 3 is pierced for this purpose, so that the individual parts can interact with each other. Already at this point it should be noted that the figures show the constructive principle and of course suitable further housing or holding parts are provided which form the respective axes of rotation, etc.

Further, a welding device 15 is provided, which - see for example Figures 1b and 5b - between a non-working position (Fig. 1b), in which it is opposed to a suitable abutment 16, and a working position (Fig. 5b), in which they themselves with the melting of the band ends causing welding tongue 17 is located in Bandführungsweg, is movable. The welding device 15 is pivotally mounted together with the tape guide element 11 about the common pivot bearing 13, and movable against the restoring force of a spring 18 in the working position.

Finally, a pressure piece in the form of a pressure plate 19 is provided, against which - see, for example, Fig. 5b - the pressing device 9 presses the tape ends. The pressure plate 19 is also pivotally mounted about a pivot bearing 20. Via a roller 21, it is also directly coupled with the pressing device 9 at its rear side and mounted there against.

Overall, therefore, only the pressing device 9 is mounted longitudinally movable, while the two jaws 4, 5, the tape guide member 11, the welding device 15 as well as the pressure plate 19 are all movably received in simple pivot bearings.

Based on the figures 1a, 1b, the operation of the welding head 1 will now be described below.

As already mentioned, FIGS. 1 a and 1 b show the situation immediately after the strapping tape 2 has been shot in. Starting from this position, the pressing device 9 is moved slightly upwards into the position shown in FIGS. 2 a, 2 b. As a result, first the right jaw 4 is released after the guide surface 10 associated therewith, formed as an inclined surface, is pulled upward during the movement, and the jaw 4 can slide therealong. Due to the restoring force of the spring 8, it is thereby moved in the direction of the arrow A about the pivot bearing 6 until the clamping portion 22, here the left upper and inwardly directed edge, engages the strap 2. As can be seen, the clamping portion 22 is directed to the left and inwardly from the pivot bearing 6. This causes the jaws 4 during the return movement of the strapping 2, against the weft back into the tape storage, which - as well as the other parts of a known strapping - here not shown in detail, to stretch the tape around the packaged goods to be strapped. To fix the strapping band 2, the jaw 4 already engages at this time. Due to the position of the clamping portion 22, this jammed even more with the band, which is withdrawn after opening the frame, not shown here opposite to the insertion direction. The strapping is thus fixed on one side. Starting from the position in Figures 2a, 2b, the pressing device 9 is now further pushed up until the left jaw 5 associated guide surface 10 of the pressing device 9 also releases this insofar that it pivots due to the restoring force of the spring 8 and clamping the strap 2 attacks (arrow B). Again, the clamping portion 23 is right to the middle at the upper part of the jaw. 5

During this movement, at the same time, the tape guide element 11 is swung out of the tape guide path in which it is still in the position according to FIGS. 2a, 2b, see FIG. 3b. This is realized in that during the movement of the pressing device 9 in the position shown in Figures 3a, 3b, the roller 14 runs on the inclined guide surface 24 at the back of the pressing device 9 and controlled by the tape guide element pivoted about the pivot bearing 13 to the left from the tape guide path becomes (arrow C).

Simultaneously with this Ausschwenkbewegung the tape guide member 11, the welding device 15 is moved in the direction of the tape guide path, see Fig. 3b. For this purpose, the tape guide element 11 and the welding device 15 is coupled directly to each other, for which purpose a magnetic coupling 25 is provided, which in the example shown comprises two magnets 26, 27, one of which is arranged on the tape guide element 11 and the welding device 15. Thus, when the welding device 15 moves, the welding device 15 is automatically moved about the common pivot bearing 13 during the given coupling (arrow D). The spring 18 is tensioned. In any case, the strapping band stretched around the item to be packaged after reaching the position according to FIGS. 3a, 3b is fixed in two places over the clamping jaws 4, 5.

Figuren 4a, 4b zeigen die Schweißeinrichtung 15 mit im Bandführungsweg befindlicher Schweißzunge 17.If, starting from the position according to FIGS. 3 a, 3 b, the pressing device 9 continues to move upwards, the roller 14 continues to run on the guide surface 24, so that the tape guide element 11 always moves further to the left from the tape guide path and the welding device 15 is moved further to the left in the tape guide path. FIGS. 4a, 4b show the welding device 15 with the welding tongue 17 located in the band guide path.

If, starting from the position according to FIGS. 4a, 4b, the pressing device 9 moves further upwards, the strapping band 2 in the region of the right clamping jaw 4, which, like the figures, has a corresponding feedthrough 29 for the band to be inserted, is moved over a knife edge 28 . cut off. Upon further lifting of the pressing device 9, the rear end of the tape 30 with the front end of the tape 31, which is still in the original position directly below the pressure plate 19, which has a corresponding catching edge 32 is overlapped, between the two is the hot welding tongue 17th In this position the two band ends are melted.

During the movement into the position according to the figures 5a, 5b, the magnetic coupling 25 and thus the movement coupling of the welding device 15 is further solved with the tape guide element 11. This happens because the roller 14 continues to run on the guide surface 24, that is pivoted to the left (arrow E), while the welding device 15 is already fixed in its working position. Due to the positive movement of the band guide element 11 over the guide surface 24 to the left, both magnets 26, 27 are necessarily separated from one another and thus the welding device 15 is released.

Dies führt dazu, dass die Schweißeinrichtung 15 vollständig freigegeben ist und in die in Fig. 6b gezeigte Nichtarbeitsstellung durch die Feder 18 zurückgezogen wird (Pfeil F).Subsequently (FIGS. 6a, 6b), the pressing device 9 is now withdrawn a short distance, so that the welded connection to the pressure plate 19 is somewhat relieved and thus also the clamped welding tongue 17 is released. As a result, the welding device 15 is completely released and is retracted into the non-working position shown in FIG. 6b by the spring 18 (arrow F).

In the next step (FIGS. 7a, 7b), the pressing device 9 is now moved upwards again, so that the band ends 30, 31 are pressed against the pressure plate 19 and firmly connect with each other as a result of the melting. The two band ends 30, 31 are pressed together for a certain time until the weld has cooled sufficiently.

In the position shown in FIGS. 7 a, 7 b, the pressure plate 19 is located between the welded strapping band and the packaged goods, that is to say the packaged goods lie on the pressure plate 19. It is now necessary to release the welded strapping so that the strapped packaged goods can be removed. This happens because the pressing device 9 is still slightly behind is moved above, wherein two springs 36, via which the pressure acting on the lower band end 30 pressing portion 33 of the pressing device 9 is connected to the main body 34 of the pressing device, are compressed. The main body 34 still moves slightly upwards, which leads to the fact that during the transition to the position shown in FIGS. 8a, 8b, the roller 21, by which the pressure plate 19 was previously mounted against the guide surface 35 of the pressing device 9, is released , Due to the pressure exerted by the pressing device 9 against the pressure plate 19, this pivots automatically on reaching the release position about the pivot bearing 20 (arrow G) from the tape guide path in the release position shown in Fig. 8b, in which the welded strapping 2 is released.

Subsequently, the pressing device 9 moves down again, which results in that first the pressure plate 19 is pivoted back into the starting position, the roller 21 thus again runs on the guide surface 35. With increasing lowering and the roller 14 of the tape guide member 11 runs again on the guide surface 24, which causes the tape guide member 11 is moved back to the position shown in Fig. 1 b in Bandführungsweg. This can be realized via a spring, not shown in detail, which retracts the tape guide element 11 into the position which spring is tensioned out of the tape guide path during the pivoting out. Upon reaching the position in the tape guide path both magnets 26, 27 again engage each other, so that the releasable movement coupling between the tape guide element 11 and welding head 1 is also created again. During the lowering movement of the pressing device 9, the two clamping jaws 4, 5 are also pressed apart again after contact of the guide surfaces 10, they pivot about the pivot bearing 6, 7 in the position shown in FIG. 1 a. This can start another welding process, starting with the entry of the strapping band.

It should be pointed out at this point that FIGS. 1a-8b are merely schematic diagrams illustrating the functional principle of the welding head according to the invention. For reasons of clarity, housing parts and the like, where the respective elements are guided or stored, not shown. This also applies to the movement control of the pressing device 9, which must be cyclically raised and lowered as described. This can be done for example via a suitable cam control, or via a suitable lifting means, such as a cylinder, or via an electric motor, etc.

Anschließend beginnt der beschriebene Schweißvorgang.FIGS. 9 and 10 show a strapping machine with the described welding head. The strapping machine 37 has a tape roll 38, is subtracted from the einzubendes tape 2. This is injected into a frame 39, which surrounds the packaged 40, through the welding head 1. After fixing the band over the jaws 4, the frame 39 is opened, so that the band 2 can be tensioned by means of the lever clamp 41, which pivots to the left and entrains the band. The clamping mechanism is known from German Patent Application 102 32 580.4. Subsequently, the described welding process begins.
