The spring can be re-engaged for re-installation after service. However, in normal operation, the spring provides no useful function.

- the detent 32 is located such that the tail portion 20 extends from the coil section 22 to engage tab 30 while tab 30 engages a stop 36 formed in the housing.
- Detent 32 is sized to firmly hold the tail portion 20 in this position, namely, an "install" or shipping position. In this position, the lever 12 cannot be moved away from the stop 36 unless a significant force is applied sufficient to dislodge the tail portion 20 out of the detent 32.
- the spring 16 also provides a bias force to urge the lever 12 against stop 36. In this position, the connecting rod or Bowden cable can be attached to the connecting end 28 of the lever.
- the handle is operated, pulling the lever 12 in the direction of arrow A (Fig. 2) from a ready position to an active position.
- the pulling force will urge the tail portion 20 over the detent 32 whereupon spring bias will snap the tail end 20 into an operational position, engaging the stop 34, as shown in Fig. 2.

Claims (9)
- Serrure de véhicule, comprenant :a) un boîtier (18) ayant un encliquetage (32) et un taquet d'arrêt (34) ;b) un levier (12) relié de manière pivotante au boîtier (18), le levier (12) ayant une butée (30) ; etc) un ressort (16) ayant une section d'enroulement (22), une partie de queue (20) et une partie opposée (24) pour solliciter le levier (12) vers une position prédéterminée, la partie de queue (20) pouvant être déplacée depuis une position de montage jusqu'à une position opérationnelle, dans laquelle, dans la position de montage, la partie de queue (20) vient en prise avec l'encliquetage (32) et la butée du levier (30) de manière à positionner le levier (12) dans la position prédéterminée et, dans la position opérationnelle, la partie de queue (20) est sollicitée pour venir en prise avec le taquet d'arrêt (34) dès que le levier (12) est pivoté à l'écart de la position prédéterminée.
- Serrure selon la revendication 1, dans laquelle la position prédéterminée du levier (12) dans la position de montage est une position dans laquelle le levier (12) vient en prise avec le boîtier (18).
- Serrure selon la revendication 2, dans laquelle la position prédéterminée du levier (12) dans la position opérationnelle est la même position du levier (12) dans la position de montage.
- Serrure selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 3, dans laquelle la partie opposée (20) vient en prise avec le levier (12) et fournit une plus grande force pour solliciter le levier (12) vers la position prédéterminée lorsque la partie de queue (20) est dans la position de montage, que lorsque la partie de queue (20) est dans la position opérationnelle.
- Serrure selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 4, dans laquelle la partie de queue (20) du ressort (16) est amovible de l'encliquetage (32) suite à l'application d'une force sur le levier (12), ladite force étant supérieure à la force de sollicitation sur le levier (12) fournie par le ressort (16).
- Serrure selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 5, dans laquelle le levier (12) est fonctionnellement raccordé à une poignée de porte extérieure.
- Serrure selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 6, dans laquelle la partie de queue (20) du ressort (16) peut se déplacer depuis la position opérationnelle vers la position de montage.
- Serrure selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 7, dans laquelle la section d'enroulement (22) du ressort (16) est montée sur la goupille de pivotement (14) autour de laquelle le levier (12) tourne.
- Procédé d'actionnement d'une serrure de véhicule ayant un boîtier (18) muni d'un encliquetage (32) et d'un taquet d'arrêt (34), un levier (12) raccordé de manière pivotante au boîtier (18) et pouvant se déplacer depuis une position armée en prise avec ledit boîtier (18), à une position active pivotée à l'écart dudit boîtier (18), et un ressort (16) s'étendant depuis le levier (12) jusqu'au boîtier (18) et appliquant une force de sollicitation sur ledit levier (12), poussant le levier (12) vers la position armée, ledit ressort (16) comportant une partie de queue (20) pouvant se déplacer pour venir en prise avec n'importe lequel d'entre ledit taquet d'arrêt (34) et ledit encliquetage (32), une section d'enroulement (22), et une partie opposée (24) en prise avec ledit levier (12), ledit procédé comprenant les étapes consistant à :déplacer ladite partie de queue (20) pour la mettre en prise avec ledit encliquetage (32) et ledit levier, de sorte que ledit ressort (16) augmente ladite force de sollicitation retenant ledit levier (12) dans ladite position armée ;retirer ladite partie de queue (20) depuis ledit encliquetage (32) pour la mettre en prise avec ledit taquet d'arrêt (34) par un premier pivotement dudit levier (12) à l'écart de la position armée, désengageant ainsi ledit levier (12) de ladite partie de queue (20), et réduisant ladite force de sollicitation sur ledit levier (12).
