Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a grinding machine having a device for conditioning a cup-shaped grinding wheel of this grinding machine for grinding workpieces, in which the cup-shaped grinding wheel is rotatable and drivable about a grinding wheel axis held in a carriage arranged on the grinding machine and in which the pot-shaped grinding wheel for conditioning in operative connection with tools arranged on the grinding machine can be brought.
  • Such grinding machines are known from EP-A-909 611 A.
  • Such grinding machines are used in particular for grinding indexable inserts.
  • the aim is that the grinding wheel can be kept in the best possible condition so that the required efficiency, accuracy and quality can be maintained.
  • the best possible condition of a grinding wheel is achieved when it has a maximum sharpness, that is to say that the grain supernatant is as large as possible with respect to the binding material that binds the grains, that it is pure, that is, the spaces between Grain and binding material are as free as possible, and that it is properly profiled, that is, that it must be reprofiled from time to time.
  • conditioning a grinding wheel is meant cleaning, sharpening and profiling of the grinding wheel.
  • an electrode is provided, which is arranged opposite the grinding wheel, separated by a gap, in which gap an electrolytic cooling lubricant is introduced.
  • the electrode is connected to the negative pole of a power source, while the grinding wheel is connected to the positive pole of this power source.
  • a current is passed, which has a dissolution of the metal bond in ions or a conversion of the metal bond into hydroxides and oxides result.
  • the metal bond is reset electrochemically, the supernatant of the abrasive grains is increased, the grinding wheel is sharpened.
  • a metal-bonded grinding wheel can be sharpened with this method, but a cleaning of the spaces between the abrasive grains is not guaranteed.
  • this method works only with metal-bonded grinding wheels, grinding wheels with other non-conductive bonding materials, such as synthetic resin or ceramic, so can not be sharpened.
  • a device is known, with which a polishing pad is sharpened by electrochemical treatment via an electrode.
  • a dressing device for dressing the polishing pad is attached.
  • dressing can only be carried out when the electrochemical sharpening is suspended.
  • only metal-bonded polishing wheels can be treated this way.
  • the object of the present invention is now to provide a device for a grinding machine, with which the grinding wheel can be conditioned in an optimal manner, wherein at least parts of this conditioning operation for reasons of efficiency and during the grinding process should be able to be performed.
  • the grinding wheel can be optimally conditioned.
  • the first tool in the form of a cup wheel, which is mounted on a rotatably mounted in the first linear drive shaft, which is aligned parallel to the grinding wheel axis, and the annular end face of the cup wheel is directed against the annular machining surface of the grinding wheel.
  • the second tool is formed as an electrode, which is mounted on the second linear drive, and which is formed so that it covers the annular machining surface over part of the circumference, wherein the electrode and the Grinding disc are each connected to a power source, and in the gap between the electrode and the grinding wheel, an electrolytic cooling lubricant is present. Optimum sharpening of the grinding wheel can be achieved with this electrode.
  • the second linear drive is provided with a rotatably mounted shaft, which is aligned parallel to the grinding wheel axis, on which an end covering the shaft end adapter can be attached, in which the electrode is fastened.
  • This adapter and the electrode can be removed, so that can be placed on this second linear drive second tool also in the form of a cup wheel, the annular end face is directed against the annular machining surface of the grinding wheel.
  • this cup wheel for conditioning a grinding wheel, which has no metallic bond, thus both metal-bonded and non-metal bonded grinding wheels can be conditioned by the use of appropriate tools in an optimal manner.
  • the two cup wheels complement each other favorably, that is, the harder cup wheel is used for profiling, the softer cup wheel for sharpening or in-process cleaning of the grinding wheel.
  • a further advantageous embodiment of the invention is that the shafts of the first linear drive and the second linear drive can be driven via drive means. By changing or adapting the peripheral speed of the cup wheels to the peripheral speed of the grinding wheel, the effectiveness of the respective tools for conditioning the grinding wheel can be optimized.
  • a further device for profiling the grinding wheel is mounted on the grinding machine stand, which is equipped with a profiling tool, which can be brought into contact with the grinding wheel for profiling.
  • the infeed movement takes place via the grinding wheel infeed. Since profiling is only necessary after a certain number of grinding operations, and the profiling requires a renewed correction of the positions between grinding wheel and workpiece holder or a workpiece held thereby, it does not make sense to carry out profiling during a grinding process. Consequently, the profiling process can be carried out with an additional profiling device without further ado, thus resulting in no significant additional loss of time.
  • the first tool and / or the second tool can be employed during the course of a grinding operation for grinding a workpiece via the first linear drive or via the second linear drive to the grinding wheel.
  • the cleaning and optionally the sharpening of the grinding wheel can thus be carried out during the execution of a grinding operation, it does not give any loss of time through travel paths.
  • Fig. 1 shows the cup-shaped grinding wheel 1, which is held in a rotating bearing housing 2, and which is driven by a motor 3.
  • the bearing housing is held in a known manner on a carriage assembly 4, by which the grinding wheel 1 is movable in a known manner with respect to the workpiece to be ground in the correct position.
  • This workpiece is clamped in a workpiece holding device 5, which workpiece holding device 5 in a known manner has the required degrees of freedom, so that the workpiece can be ground in the desired manner by the grinding wheel 1.
  • a dressing device 6 is additionally arranged with which the cup-shaped grinding wheel 1 can be profiled in a known manner from time to time.
  • a first linear drive 7 and a second linear drive 8 are mounted on the bearing housing 2.
  • the first linear drive 7 and the second linear drive 8 are arranged side by side and aligned parallel to the grinding wheel axis 18.
  • a first tool 9 is attached to the first linear drive 7, while a second tool 10 is arranged on the second linear drive 8 is.
  • the first tool 9 and the second tool 10 are about the respective linear drive 7 and 8 in the direction of the grinding axis against the annular machining surface 11 of the grinding wheel 1 towards adjustable and offset from this. With this first tool 9 and the second tool 10, the grinding wheel 1 can be conditioned, as will be described below.
  • the first tool 9, which is attached to the first linear drive 7 has the shape of a cup wheel 14.
  • the first linear drive 7 and the first tool 9 forming the cup wheel 14 are arranged so that the annular end face 12 of the cup wheel 14 is directed against the annular machining surface 11 of the grinding wheel 1.
  • This cup wheel 14 is placed on a rotatably mounted in the first linear drive shaft 7, as will be described later, which is driven by a hydraulic motor 13 rotating.
  • a hydraulic motor 13 rotating.
  • another motor such as an electric motor, could be used.
  • the second linear drive 2 carries a second tool 10, which is designed as an electrode 15.
  • This electrode 15, which may for example consist of copper or graphite, is attached to the front end region of the second linear drive 8, as will be seen later.
  • This electrode 15 is thus connected to the second linear drive 8 and has a shape such that it covers the annular machining surface 11 of the grinding wheel 1 over a certain angle, as can be seen in particular from FIG. 3.
  • the electrode 15 is connected in known manner with a current source, not shown, and is insulated with respect to the second linear drive 8.
  • the grinding wheel 1, which has a metallic bond when using an electrode 15 as a second tool 10 is also connected in a known manner with the power source, not shown, and isolated from the housing 2.
  • an electrolytic cooling lubricant is introduced in a known manner, in particular via holes mounted in the electrode 15, while for cooling the workpieces, the cooling lubricant is supplied via supply lines 16.
  • the construction and the Operation of such a device is described for example in EP-A-0 909 611.
  • the cup wheel 14 is placed on a shaft 17 mounted in the first linear drive 7.
  • This shaft 17 is driven in rotation via the hydraulic motor 13, with a predetermined speed.
  • the first linear drive 7 is CNC-controlled, the cup wheel 14 can thereby hone in the direction of the grinding wheel axis 18 against the annular machining surface 11 of the grinding wheel 1 out until they come into contact with each other.
  • the grain size and the hardness of the cup wheel 14 are for example adapted to the properties of the grinding wheel 1 such that the spaces between the abrasive grains of the grinding wheel 1 are cleaned by the abrasion of the cup wheel 14. This cleaning may be performed as required during the performance of a grinding operation, for example, grinding an indexable insert.
  • the speed of the cup wheel 14 is adapted to the rotational speed of the grinding wheel 1 or its peripheral speed and the properties of the grinding wheel 1. This achieves fast and good cleaning with minimal grinding wheel and cup wheel wear.
  • the electrode 15 is mounted on the second linear drive 8.
  • This second linear drive 8 is also equipped with a shaft 19 in the same way as the first linear drive 7 (FIG. 5).
  • the end region of the second linear drive 8 is provided with an adapter 20, which also covers the front end of the shaft 19.
  • the electrode 15 is attached.
  • This electrode 15 can be adjusted against the annular machining surface 11 of the grinding wheel 1 via the CNC-controlled second linear drive 8.
  • a gap 21 remains between the electrode 15 and the annular machining surface 11.
  • the electrolytic cooling lubricant is introduced as already mentioned above mounted in the electrode 15 holes.
  • This sharpening operation of the grinding wheel can be easily carried out during a grinding operation if necessary.
  • the grinding wheel 1 is cleaned with the cup wheel 14, while being sharpened with the electrode 15 and profiled with the external dressing device 6.
  • the cup wheel 14 can also be designed and employed with the appropriate peripheral speed to the grinding wheel 1, that both a cleaning and a profiling of the grinding wheel 1 can be achieved.
  • the profiling of the grinding wheel with the external dressing device 6 is then eliminated, the grinding machine could be formed without such a dressing device.
  • electrolytic sharpening can only be applied to grinding wheels which have a metallic bond.
  • the electrode 15 and the adapter 20 can be removed from the second linear drive 8, shown in FIG. 4.
  • a cup wheel can be placed on the second linear drive 8 in an identical manner as in the first linear drive 7, which is connected to the shaft 19.
  • This cup wheel and the shaft 19 can also be rotated via a correspondingly mounted hydraulic motor in rotation, the on and off the cup wheel of this second linear drive 8 is then identical to the first linear drive 7.
  • the patch here and serving as a second tool 10 cup wheel should profiled the grinding wheel 1, ie Grain and hardness of this cup wheel are chosen so that the grains of the grinding wheel can be removed.
  • the acting as a first tool 9 cup wheel 14 is then formed so that with this sharpening and cleaning of the grinding wheel 1 can be performed.
  • a profiling of the grinding wheel 1 with the dressing device 6 is no longer required for this case, the profiling can therefore be performed more optimally. Again, the grinding machine could be formed without external dressing.
  • the grinding machine is designed in a known manner so that the required by the conditioning of the grinding wheel corrections of the zero point positions of all slices can be performed automatically.
  • the grinding wheel can be optimally conditioned, depending on the design, even during the execution of grinding operations, an interruption of the successive grinding operations can be at least limited, the efficiency and the grinding quality are thereby increased.
