Abstract

The invention concerns a device for dividing a receptacle into compartments for sorting, arranged on the opening of the receptacle and designed to maintain at least an open bag, comprising a crosspiece consisting of at least two telescopic elements (1, 2) formed by profiled sections with matching shape to ensure that they slide with longitudinal guidance, the profiled section forming each element consisting of a body having a part with large cross-section (4, 10) which is mounted on a part with narrower cross-section (5, 11) at the base of which is provided, forming a single piece therewith, on its two sides and over its entire length, means for catching and locking the bags to be maintained.

Description

The invention relates to a container partitioning device, in particular a trash can or a laundry bin, for sorting the objects to be introduced therein, of the type in which a crosspiece of variable length is arranged across the opening of the container in order to make to hang on either side of the cross bag bags for receiving objects, as defined in the preamble of claim 1.

Such a device is known for example from US Patent 4,750,638. According to this patent, a bin compartmenting device consists of two identical sections that can slide against each other and fixed to one another by means of a clamping bolt. The profiles are provided at one of their ends with a bracket hook piece for fixing the device on two opposite edges of the trash. Stirrups each carrying a hook at each of their ends are arranged at intervals on the device to provide attachment to the bags on either side of the device. Two bags can be attached, on the one hand to the hooks on each side of the device and on the other hand to the edges of the trash.

This system allows the compartmentalization of a household trash with possibility of adaptation to trash cans whose opening size is between the minimum and maximum extensions of the device. The system requires an adaptation fitting with screw tightening and the use of bag hooking devices on the cross member constituted by the profiles, which devices must also be screwed. This complicates the use of this system for home use.

US Patent 5,190,183 also discloses a bin compartmenting device consisting of a cross member with elements telescopic to adapt the system to the opening of different trash. Two bags can be hung between one edge of the trash can and the transom on either side of it. The proposed system uses clamps to secure the edge of the bags to the transom.

The disadvantage of this system is that the two bags must be held on the cross while the clamps are put in place. In addition, the used clamps can be lost or broken and periodic replacement must be provided, which imposes a permanent reserve of clamps.

The invention aims to overcome these disadvantages by providing a container partitioning device, easy to adapt to the opening of a container and allowing the attachment of the sorting bags without using additional devices to fix them.

This object is achieved by means of a container partitioning device for sorting, arranged on the opening of the container and for holding at least one open bag between said device and an edge of the container or other identical device , comprising a crossmember consisting of at least two telescopic elements, the opposite ends of the crossmember being provided with hooking means at the edges of the container, characterized in that said telescopic elements, comprising a first element and at least a second element, are formed by profiles; in that the shape of the first element is complementary to that of said at least one second element to ensure its sliding with longitudinal guidance in the first element; and in that the profile forming each element is constituted by a body having a portion of wide section which overcomes a narrower section portion at the base of which is made, parting with it, on its two sides and over its entire length, a means for hooking and locking bags to maintain.

An embodiment of two elements of the device according to the invention is shown in Figure 5. It consists of a first element 1 made of a plastic profile and a second element 2 also made of flexible plastic, and than two end plates 3, 3 'for attachment to the opposite edges of the container.

The first element 1 has, according to Figure 1, a body consisting of a wide section portion 4 of generally triangular shape in which is connected a portion of narrower section 5, at the base of which are formed two wings 6, symmetrical relative to the median plane of the profile. These wings have a first section 7 perpendicular to the portion 5 of the body, a second section 8 folded upwards and substantially parallel to the portion 5 of the body and a third section 9 inclined downwardly and inwardly whose end comes to rest against the body of the profile. In this embodiment, the profile is an extruded profile hollow whose narrowest part is open towards the bottom. The overview of the profile is shown in Figure 2.

The second element (FIGS. 3 and 4) also comprises a body consisting of a portion of wide section 10, surmounting a part of narrower section 11, at the base of which two wings 12 are formed, symmetrical with respect to the median plane of the profile. These wings comprise a first section 13 perpendicular to the body portion 11, a second section 14 folded upwards and substantially parallel to the portion 11 of the body and a third section 15 inclined downwardly and inwardly whose end just lean against the body of the profile.

The elements 1 and 2 are dimensioned so that the second element 2 can be introduced longitudinally into the first and slide freely. In order to limit the sliding movement of the second element 2 in the first element, each section is provided, in its narrower part, 5 or 11, with a tongue made by bursting from the wall of the profile and projecting inwards to the element 1 and see the outside for the element 2. The tongues 19, 20 being directed in opposite directions to lock in one another when the second element is slid as far as possible out of the first element.

The angle plates 3, 3 'constituting the hooking means of the device on the edges of a container and shown in FIG. 6, comprise a plane cross section 15, one end of which is provided with an angled portion 16 and the the other end is shaped fork whose branches 17 are provided with a lug 18 protruding outwardly of the wafer.

The wafer 3 is sized to be introduced into a slideway 21 located in the wide section portion 4 of the first element 1, to an end thereof opposite to that where the second element is introduced. The wafer 3 'is dimensioned to be introduced and slide in the wide section portion of the second element 2 at the end opposite to that introduced into the element 1.

At the insertion ends of the angled nose plates 3 and 3 'in the wide parts 4 and 10 of the elements, notches (not shown) are formed in the wall to receive the lugs 18 of the plates 3 and 3' and thus stop the attachment means in a suitable position.

As can be seen in FIG. 5, the two elements are mounted telescopically one inside the other and can slide until they are stopped, or against the angled parts 16 (FIG. 6) of the hooking means 3, 3 (minimum extension), or by the tabs 19, 20 which cling to each other (maximum extension).

A user who desires to divide a two-part container for sorting into two bags arranged in the container slides the two members 1 and 2 until the length of the device reaches the width of the opening of the container to be divided. The invention is not limited to the example described. We can design a device according to the same principle with two second elements, that is to say one on each side of the first element which then becomes central element.

The attachment system of the bags can take various forms, in particular the wings can consist of a first section curved upwards and a second section, inverted curvature relative to the first, so that the top of the second curvature rests against the body of the element to maintain the edge of the bag between it and said body and block it.

The container may be a garbage bin or a laundry tub or other container for various purposes.

Similarly, one can consider the simultaneous use of several devices according to the invention, for example on a rectangular laundry bin where two or more devices can be arranged parallel to each other, the intermediate bags then being held on two sides by a device according to the invention.

The advantages of the invention are manifold.

First, the device being made of flexible plastic material, especially recycled, the bag attachment system is simply pushing the inclined sections 9, 15 to introduce the edge of a bag, for example recycled plastic, between one of these sections and the body of the profile.

The embodiment according to the example described allows not only to tighten the edge of the bag but also to prevent inadvertent tearing because the inclined section 9, 15 gives way in the direction of the introduction but ensures the locking of the bag in case of traction in the opposite direction.

The attachment means on the edge of the container are retracted into the folded device and also serve as a handle for pulling the elements during installation.

Claims (6)

1. Device for making compartments in a container for the purpose of sorting, placed on the opening of the container and intended for maintaining at least one bag opened between said device and one edge of the container or another identical device, comprising a cross-member made up of at least two telescopic elements, the opposite ends of the cross-member being provided with means of catching the edges of the container, characterised in that said telescopic elements, comprising a first element (1) and at least a second element (2), are formed by profiles; in that the shape of the first element (1) is complementary to that of said second element at least (2) to make sure it slides with a longitudinal guide within the first element; and in that the profile forming each element is made up of a body having a broad section part (4,10), which overlays a narrower section part (5,11) at the base of which, forming integral part with it, on both sides and over its whole length, a means of catching and blocking bags to be held.

Device for making compartments according to claim 1, characterised in that the means of catching and blocking the bags of each profile are made up of two symmetrical wings (6,12) spreading apart from said base and each presenting a section (8,14) folded upwards of the profile which is followed by a section (9,15) coming closer to said body until it is in contact with it in order to hold the bag between itself and the profile body.

3. Device for making compartments according to claim 2, characterised in that the wings have a first section (7,13) perpendicular to the narrower section part (5,11) of the profile, a second section (8,14) folded upwards and essentially parallel.

Device for making compartments according to claim 2, characterised in that the wings are made up of a first section curving upwards and of a second section, the curve of which is inverse in relation to the first one, in order to lean against the body of the element so as to block the edge of the bag between itself and said body.

Device for making compartments according to claim 1, characterised in that the means of catching the edges of the container are made up of small plates (3,3') showing an end folded back at a right angle (16) and slide within a guiding means (21) provided in the broader section part (4,10) of the profile in order to match the width of the wall of the container to be divided into compartments.

6. Device for making compartments according to claim 5, characterised in that the wall of the broader section part (4,10) of each element holds, at the end where the small place folded back at a right angle is inserted, at least one opening into which enters a pin (18) of the small plate to secure it in position.
