Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for protection a telescopic sight fitted to a rifle, especially a hunting rifle.
- This invention relates to the field of manufacturing accessories intended to equip a weapon, more particularly a sighting system that includes such a weapon.
- Such a device is arranged to be associated with each end of a such a telescope and is in the form of a tubular tip engaged over such an end and on which is mounted hinged cover.
- the latter is completed by a spring of recall in the open position of this cover as well as by a mechanism designed capable of controlling the tilting of this cover in the open position, this under the impulse of said spring recall and after manual actuation of a control member.
- such a device can be located on the side of the telescope intended to be positioned at proximity to the weapon bearer's eye which due to the presence of said control member and said cover, is likely to cause damage to this eye, especially case of recoil of this weapon.
- such a device is intended to provide protection of the scope so that, when transporting the weapon, its cover is usually closed. Also, in case of detection of a target, in particular game, it is advisable, first of all, open the cover of each protection device equipping the scope before being able to shoulder the rifle and make fire. This opening substantially delays the shooting so the target can be hit so inappropriate (ball badly housed), or even missed. It is may, again, that the bearer of the weapon be aware of the closing of such a cover after having supported his weapon and attempts, however, to open this cover which, when this the latter is placed close to his eye, is likely to hurt him.
- the device is tightly engaged on the bezel and that the cover closes this device in a substantially sealed manner. It results, firstly, that the opening of this cover and the fact temperature differences, the optics of the telescope tendency to fog up and, on the other hand, only if water comes into the device, it stagnates without possibility of being evacuated and risk of contaminating the optics.
- the present invention is intended to remedy these disadvantages through a protective device particularly clever and effective.
- the invention relates to a device for the protection of a rifle scope equipping a rifle, in particular hunting device, this device comprising a tubular nozzle extending along an axis and on which a cover is mounted by by means of articulation means, said end piece being intended to be engaged over the end of said telescope oriented towards the end of the rifle barrel, characterized by the fact that it includes means arranged to provoke, automatically and by gravity, a tilting of said cover relative to said tip when the axis of the latter comes to form a determined angle with respect to the vertical, this during a tilting operation of said device.
- the protective device is designed so that its cover, on the one hand, opens automatically and without any intervention of the bearer of the weapon as soon as it supports this weapon and, on the other hand, closes automatically and, there again, without any intervention, when this wearer gives his weapon slung.
- this device includes means arranged to authorize a circulation of fluid through this device.
- Such characteristics allow, on the one hand, air circulation which allows to prevent the lens of the telescope from fogging up due to the opening of the cover and, on the other hand, an evacuation, outside of the device, of a residue of water which may have entered the device after opening the cover.
- the present invention relates to the field of manufacturing accessories intended to equip a weapon, more particularly a sighting system that includes a rifle.
- This invention find a particularly suitable application when is to practice hunting, especially in conditions inclement weather such as rain.
- such a rifle comprises a barrel having two ends, one of which is oriented in the direction of the butt while the other presents an outlet at the level from which the bullet is ejected from this rifle.
- the latter can be equipped with a sighting system consisting of a telescopic sight sight, usually mounted over said barrel, and having two ends, one of which is intended to be oriented in direction of the weapon bearer's eye while the other is oriented towards the outlet of the barrel.
- the present invention therefore relates to a device 1 for the protection of such a telescopic sight 2.
- this device 1 comprises a tubular end piece 3 extending along a axis 4 and on which a cover 5 is mounted via hinge means 6 authorizing a tilting of said cover 5 with respect to said nozzle 3, this around an axis of tilting 7.
- This tubular end piece 3 is intended to be engaged over the end 8 of said bezel 2 oriented at direction of the outlet of the barrel C of the rifle. Through such engagement, the axis 4 of said tubular end piece 3 is at least parallel or even coincident with the optical axis 9 of said telescope aiming 2.
- said device 1 comprises means arranged to cause, automatically and by gravity, a tilting of said cover 5 relative to said tip 3 when the axis 4 of the latter 3 comes to form an angle determined with respect to the vertical V, this during a maneuver tilting of said device 1.
- these consist of a center calibration of gravity of the cover 5 relative to the axis 7 of its means hinge 6.
- such a calibration consists in carrying out said cover 5 so that its center of gravity is located on an axis which, on the one hand, cuts, in particular perpendicularly, the axis 7 of the articulation means 6 of the cover 5 and, on the other hand, forms an angle ⁇ with the axis 4 of said tubular tip 3.
- said protection device 1 comprises a tubular end piece 3 which, according to a preferred embodiment, is made of a material synthetic, more particularly PVC, in particular hard PVC.
- This tubular end piece 3 receives said articulation means 6 which have a base 10, on the one hand, attached to this end piece 3 preferably by screwing or riveting and, on the other part, on which 10 is hinged said cover 5 around its tilt axis 7 and, on the other hand, supplemented by damping means 11 against which abuts said cover 5 at the end of the opening stroke.
- Such means amortization 11 are preferably constituted by a element (in particular a plate or the like) attached (in particular by screwing or riveting) on said base 10 and produced in a hard material, especially hard rubber.
- this is, at least in part, made of a metallic material, more particularly brass.
- This cover 5 comprises a closure element 12, designed capable of come back on said end piece 3, as well as an element 13 designed capable of making the connection of this element of closure 12 at said base 10, this in an articulated manner.
- said connecting element 13 is made of a metallic material (in particular of the type mentioned above) and is made united (more particularly by solder, in particular tin) of a portion of said element closure 12 also produced, at least in part, in one metallic material (in particular of the aforementioned type).
- a mode of preferred embodiment of the invention is that said connection element 13 and said closure element 12 are made of the same metallic material, in particular brass.
- this cover 5 comprises a portion 14 at least translucent, or even and preferably transparent.
- the closure element 12 of this cover 5 comprises a annular element 15 made of a metallic material such as mentioned above and provided with means defining a chassis for the reception of a glazed element 16 defining said part 14 at less translucent.
- this glazed element 16 can consist of a glass whose thickness is preferably around 3mm, especially anti-scratch treatment and made integral with the element ring 15 by gluing.
- Such an embodiment allows, in particular, rainwater falling on said device 1 closed to run off from above this one 1 avoiding any penetration of this water to inside this device 1.
- said tip 3 has an extension 18 extending substantially at the front of said telescope 2.
- Such an extension 18 allows, advantageously, to protect the optics of the telescope 2 at against water, especially splashes.
- said device 1 comprises means 19 arranged to ensure its maintenance on said bezel 2.
- such means 19 are constituted by means designed capable of ensuring engagement tightened, in particular progressively, of said tubular end piece 3 on said bezel 2.
- such means 19 are constituted by at least one strap 20, preferably of the elastic type, made integral of said end piece 3 and intended to be stretched over the end, opposite the end receiving said end piece 3, of said telescope 2 ( Figure 3).
- a strap 20 may include means arranged to allow adjustment of its length for the purpose of adaptation of said device 1 to another telescope 2.
- said tip 3 has, at its internal surface, at least one stop stop 21 (more particularly defined by a stud, by a annular shoulder or the like) against which is intended to bear the end of said telescope aim 2, this when said device 1 is mounted on this glasses 2.
- An additional feature of this device 1 consists of what it includes means arranged to authorize a circulation of fluid through this device 1.
- such means consist of that there is a spacing between the circular shoulder 17 of said tubular end piece 3 and the annular rim of said element closure 12.
- Such spacing advantageously allows a air entering said device 1 or even air circulation through it, which in particular makes it possible to avoid the fogging of the optics.
- Such means can, again, be constituted by an assembly with a certain clearance of said tubular end piece 3 on said telescope 2, this more particularly in the case of a device 1 completed by at least one retaining strap 20.
- such means can be constituted by at least one longitudinal channel (in particular produced by grooving or the like) defined at the inner surface of said tip 3 intended to cooperate with said telescope 2.
- said tip 3 may include, internally, a shoulder 21 against which comes to bear said bezel 2.
- Such support is preferably made of not watertight so as to allow circulation of fluid.
- said device 1 of protection is installed on said telescope 2 so that the articulation means 6 are oriented in the direction of the barrel C rifle.
- Such a device 1 after having been placed on said telescope 2, is designed capable of remaining in the closed position when the rifle is transported, in particular over the shoulder, barrel C pointed towards the sky (FIG. 2).
- the rifle When the rifle is supported, it undergoes a tilting relative to the vertical V during which the barrel C lowers.
- the device 1 also tilts and, when the axis 4 of this device 1 reaches and exceeds an angle relative to the vertical V, said cover 5 tilts relative to the end piece 3 and the device 1 s 'opens ( Figure 3).
- the rifle is put back over the shoulder, it is tilted in an opposite direction during which the axis 4 of the device 1 switches to a vertical position.
- the cover 5 rocks relative to the end piece 3, this for an angle ⁇ and in the closed position of the device 1.
